2017 Peugeot 3008 Review

We think the Peugeot 3008 now sets the medium SUV benchmark. With a class-leading interior, great refinement and good engines, it moves the game forward. But is it better than a Volkswagen Tiguan? Let me know your thoughts in the comments!

I have it... I love it in every way, I got rid of my S-class Mercedes and got this because we're expecting twins in a couple of months, so we needed something that would be a good "family wagon" and this is nearly on the same level as the MUCH more expensive competitors... wouldn't trade it for anything on the market today :)

I've been looking for a Medium range SUV for quite a while and nothing that really stands out! This one on the other hand is really beautiful both externally and internally while very practical. Bravo Peugeot!

Any progress on a comparison between the Tiguan and CX5? My misses wants a CX5 but I really want one of these and the only other comparison I could find, from CarAdvise, pitched this ahead in pretty much every category. Having driven all 3 and had them all come to market now, would you still say the 3008 is your pick for the segment?

Great to see a maker sticking with or going back to a good, conventional auto. I've been crossing CVTs and DCTs off my list but the list is very short, so it's good to have another brand to consider.

Peugeot is now offering in the new 308 2.0HDi 180 a 8 speed torque convertor, it should hit the rest of the brand soon...

Can anybody ensure me about the diesel motor of 3008 model please. Been year and half i am driving peugeot 3008 manual 1.5 lt gtline 130 hp 2019 model. Some people gave me some negative comments about French cars. Now i am very much worried.

Thanks for the review. I did not realise that Australian customers were dipping out by not having the brilliant 1.2 litre, 3 cylinder, turbo petrol engine available to purchase. I thought I wanted the 1.6 turbo until I drove the 1.2. I also have all the safety features you mentioned as standard (except the ACC which is an option) on my Allure. I think you have been shortchanged. I've had mine a month and loving it: I actually prefer it to my BMW 520d, which I thought was an excellent car.

Peugeot have told me that there is an option to import the three-cylinder later. However, they're keen to establish the vehicle first with a couple of more traditional engines - the turbo four petrol and diesel. Australians are a bit cynical about three-cylinders, especially in bigger cars, but it's worth trying once the 3008 has built up a head of steam, I think. Perhaps as a base model.

Chasing Cas: That's fair enough. It seems most markets have their own preferenced when it comes to engine size. All I can tell you is that I drove patrol cars for thirty years and my 1.2 auto performs really rather well on all types of roads. I am very pleasantly surprised how good it is on country lanes.

Great review and interesting to hear your comments on the torque converter auto (dual clutch seems to be every where these days!). Fantastically designed 3008 inside and out. This deserves to be the number 1 SUV. :-)

Thanks, Andrew. Yes, this has a great torque converter auto. I like DCTs, but this is a lot more intuitive to drive than a Tiguan, which requires a bit of patience at first around town.

Andrew K, Northern Ireland modern torque converter are really the best option, except maybe for super-car. DCT are more expensive, less reliable and not that good at low speed.

sucks that you can only get alcantara in diesel until 2021 and they're another 10k right now, seems I'll have to wait a couple of years

Great review, what type of warranty does Peugeot offer compared to competitors and do they offer capped services?

Harry Girgin they have just released a 8 year warranty on their current models! Not sure if this is national but saw it at the local dealer the other day. But I have heard that apparently they have now offered a 5-7 year standard warranty. I have always extended my warranty with Peugeot over the years at an additional $1500 per year. And has always been worth it!

sorry not in USA for now, reliability is pretty good, better than germans, however early 00's give a very dark image to the brand...

When you mention any feature i prefer to see it as well, you simply say storage, power port and etc... i watched many of your videos and you keep repeating this. specially when you seat in the driver seat and put the camera in the back seat and turn your face and talk about features, I don't have to watch, listening is enough. its a video mate.... please work on details.
