The funny thing is, Turning Point claims their aluminum props peform identically to their stainless, with the only difference being durability

There is an incredible advantage to aluminum props. If you are switching gears constantly picking up lobster traps or something like that, the aluminum prop is lighter and won’t tear up your transmission or sterndrive as much as a heavy stainless. Otherwise for cruising and long distance, my SS prop is superior in that sense.

Here is what I don't understand, my boat has a prop on it stamped 12.5 X 19--yet on line catalogue calls for a 12.5 OR a 13.5--how can the diameter be different for the same engine?

So why is the SS so much better than aluminum?

How do pitches correspond between 3 and 4 blade props? Say, I am using 17P 3 blade SS prop on my aluminum fishing boat, but in summer I want to use this same boat for tubing, skiing, etc. Does it make sense to get 4 blade prop for these activities and what should the pitch be to allow similar optimal performance as my 17P 3 blade prop does? Thanks for the info and advice.
