So cool! Quick question, what was the best year of racing at Reno? What year had the best aircraft turnout?? Thanks for sharing, I’d love to go one day.

Early to mid 2000’s probably had a good turnout. Racers like Precious Metal were competing. That one ran a Rolls Royce Griffon with contra-rotating props and sounded awesome. Voodoo and Strega were racing alot also. 2017 was fairly classic. Since covid, who knows whats going to happen.

You bet! I still think the best sounding racer was Precious Metal with the Rolls Royce Griffon engine and contra-rotating props. That was/is harmonic. The F7F Tigercat sounds great around the pylons too. Thanks for your comment!

when the P-51 mustang was built its engines only cranked out 1450-1600 horsepower, but these guys they soop them up to where they're cranking out more than 6000+ HP

Perhaps it uses one from an H model. I dont know. I believe there are only five H-models in existence. Sure it might have made sense to race an H model due to its lightness but i think they’re too rare.

@@vinnygee173Both race 5 and 7 are probably not H models, they have kinked leading edge wings. The H has a straight leading edge.

Good video but man the sound of the wind on your mic is killer! They have things you can get to cover the mics up on just about any camera with audio ever made. I bought one recently for my iPhone and it stops all of that wind noise.

Ron Martin Hi Ron, I know its bad. I made a windscreen and it, somehow, amplified internal camera noise (from the IS system). I removed it prior to Reno. What annoys me is that consumer grade video cameras in the 1990s were factory fitted with windscreens. These days they recess mics below sharp edges with zero windscreening. It is idiotic design. Anyone with an inkling of an interest in aerodynamics can tell you sharp edges are trouble for a start. I sure aint making excuses. The wind noise bugged me. Things will be different next time.

Sometimes if you put a sock over your mike, you won't get all the wind noises on your videos.

I was using a Sony WX350 pocket camera with built-in mikes and you cant put a sock over it, also I didn't have a stick on muff! The wind noise sucks. Apologies.

Pretty incoherent video it's all over the place didn't even show the closest head to head race ever raced All you had to do would have been to zoom out a little Voodoo And Strega were close enough together to have them in the frame the whole race.
