I love how the crowd looses their mind seconds before the huge bottle dance hit! Everyone knows what's about to happen!!

The reaction to every major theme was special, but in the build-up to the bottle dance you could feel the anticipation and excitement rising. The eruption when the ladies sank to their knees and did the first bottle dance step sent shivers up my spine. Positively electric show.

I had the honor to compete against SCV in the late 60’s and early 70’s as a member of the Blue Stars. It was unbelievable to see how they transformed drum corps back in those days. Forever proud to have been part of the activity back then and today as a volunteer and driver for the Blue Stars. We were all trailblazers back then.

I drove SCV '90-'93. It amazed me that even though the styles were completely different 20 years later, the kids were the same and the drive for perfection was/is still the same. Of course, we didn't have a food truck when I marched so there's that. ;)

I too am an alumni of the Royalaires and the Royal Commodores .. I still miss my Drum Corps having had been marching since I was 18 mo's. Old.. when I aged out I taught with many and even marched with Los Caballeros... I taught my sister who also marched with the Royal Family, the Blue Angels and on to her famed years with Blue Devils and when she aged out she taught them and continues to teach a H.S. Color Guard near Dallas, TX. I am so proud of her and her accomplishments... I look forward to seeing these videos, hearing the music and seeing the pageantry. It never gets old and seeing and hearing the music from Fiddler on the Roof. The only thing better was the Russian Sailor Dance back in the day ... I sure wish they would find a much better musically enhancing... Thanks for hearing and reading my story... Cindy McCumsey Brown

Nice touch on Bottle Dance to have the 3 in the middle with the classic SCV skirts. My only time to see SCV in person was in 82. I thank the DCI gods I got to see Bottle Dance live.

As a Midwesterner, I was all about Phantom, Scouts and Cavies, but each year that I saw the Vanguard moved me more and more. I realize that The Blue Devils do everything in near perfection but every year the Vanguard shows like Phantom of The Opera, The Russian Christmas, Fiddler, Les Mis and Scheherazade moved be emotionally in a way The Blue Devils never could and all of those 2nd place finishes in those years were to me, and the crowd as well, The BEST shows of the year! Such Passion!!! WELL DONE SCV!!!!! btw....who are the 5 total morons that hit Dislike on this!!!

My corps Guardsmen did not make finals in 1975, so I was in the stands for the finals. Saw the iconic bottle dance for the first time. Loved it! I have compilation videos of santa clara through the years. I have seen on on video tape. Yes tape ha. Love them all, but really enjoy the 1992 bottle dance and "scv" formation ending to great quick company front. Thank you Santa Clara!

It was a SVG recruiting film from the early '70s shown during my high school band class that inspired me to join drum corps. The Sacramento Freelancers kept me busy, disciplined, and out of trouble 1975-1977. Thank you drum corps. I owe you.

This brought back so many great memories, and lot of misty eyed tears of joy. 1989 was my first introduction to DCI and SCV. I said "I am going to do that someday", two years later I did. Still to this day, I am actively involved with the activity as a whole. It is such a great organization for young musicians to be apart of. Thank you for this video.

Leo, thanks for adding the A-squad picture and memorial flags at the end. I don't always watch it all the way through, but when I do, it brings me to tears to see all of those who have gone before us. My best friends, Brad Andrews and Marci Budds names are among those on those flags. I miss them desperately. But thanks to you, they will live on with this video. Thanks again for doing this.

Not the best photo of the memorial flags. Was the best available at the time. Had to include A-squad and memorial flags because it makes the video "complete" - all facets of the EVENT.

It's throwing me off in the best of ways hearing this kind of show being played on G bugles, but recorded in modern, HD audio. I know G bugles were a pain to play while also staying in tune, but there's a part of me that wishes I was old enough to experience the late 90s era of drum corps, if not just for the sound.
