I have to relate to one major element which may have been lost in the presentation. As a Vietnam veteran, everyone should understand what a powerful moment occurred with the return of "the colors" to the color guard. I wept openly at the inclusion of the symbol of our nation's liberty and justice for all. Lest we forget, the Stars and Stripes have always been our symbol of democracy and unity and were always given the honor and respect they deserved by the corps. I'm so glad to have lived long enough to once again see it restored with the dignity she deserves. Thank you Vanguard for not forgetting.

Honor guard has (I believe) gotten more popular in DCA recently. Most alumni corps still have them.

First saw in 1975 when I was with Guardsmen from Illinois. Of course, loved the bottle dance! So glad to hear they are back in 2024. To all present and past members and staff of SCV, thank you for all the great memories! Looking forward to more memories to come! 🎉❤

I first saw SCV at the 1973 DCI finals which they won and again in 1974 which they won. A bunch of us hitch hiked from NJ to Whitewater, Wisconsin for the 1973 finals. Great seeing the Alumni performance.

Totally loved this! I miss those days. SCV and so many other corps gave us REAL drum corps.

The snare and cymbals during the bottle dance are the best. Send in the clowns was the first song I heard a Drum Corps playing back in '74. ❤️💚 Fanguard

Rob wasn't in the line but he was with us the day we rehearsed in Lucas Oil stadium. Great to have him stop by and visit with us.

I bet you had a huge smile on your face listening to Fanfare and Allegro considering you played it in the Osage Precisionnaires. If only you had the patience to instruct an eleven year old snare drummer from Marshalltown, Iowa and teach him para-diddles. Oh wait... you did. : )

he was busy, teaching Impulse ..... there were three of us SCV alums on staff in 2017

This was my favorite DCI show I ever saw live. I had chills the entire time. But I was waiting for them to go into Music of the Night at the end. The members chose what songs to play so I’m guessing Music of the Night is Sacred or something. Unfortunately I was born 3 years to see it live. But damn it would have put this show over the top.

Instead of the soft fade out at the end of clowns it would’ve been so awesome if It crescendoed into a face peeling final chord just for a unique and triumphant finish

Look, I didn't march with either of these corps, but if you watch this you really should watch the Kingsmen alumni from 2007. Really, just watch it. They play a 70's show whereas this seems to be 80's-90's, but AK performed the sh-t out of it. Really, watch it.

Daniel Crawford This was a tribute show - all of the music was from past SCV shows: “Appalachian Spring” from 1976, 77, 82, 83 and 2009, Phantom of the Opera from ‘88 & ‘89; Les Miserables from 2013 and the Chava Ballet & Bottle Dance from at least 6 different shows - among a host of others. This was a show honoring 50 years of tradition, so you really can’t compare it to anything else. The Kingsmen show you mentioned was a group of alumni that got together in 2007 even though the Kingsmen had not fielded a competitive Corps since 1988 and had formally disbanded in 1991.

We played music from '60s and '70s..Festive Overture, Procession of the Nobles, Fiddler and Clowns, just to name a few. All those who marched with SCVAC were 50 years worth of SCV Alumni only. Lots of different marching styles, playing styles and equipment styles to meld into one. Lots of respect for Anaheims Tribute show, but it had a lot of people who were not in Kingsmen originally. it was all old school style which of course they did extremely well.. As a '70s gal, it would have been easier for me to march the Anaheim show than it was our 50th Anniversary show. My brain wasn't wired to follow 'dots' and do modern flag work, but it was worth all the sweat and tears to be on the field again with my Brothers and Sisters.
