I've read a few comments about the movement being inferior. Although it has less power reserve, the movement is significantly thinner than previous one. This allowed them to reduce the thickness of the case which was definitely needed. Cheers!

@coreybrown35077 жыл бұрын
Leslie Corella, I don’t know whether the new versions of the Seiko Cocktail Time are better than the original. The new colors are definitely beautiful. I enjoy my original Seiko Cocktail Time. It’s a great watch to own. If I am in a room full of luxury Swiss watches, I feel very proud to wear my watch at a fraction of the cost of their watches. My watch garners many compliments too.

@@lesliecorella9041 technically the origional sarb065 has a better movement. It's considered the better of the two but of course you're going to pay for it.

Just got this piece. The strap is very comfortable. Its decent. The blue second hand sometimes looks black then silver. So the second hand trips me out. To me it looks like a work of art. It's not boring or busy, it just screams professional and class. I've only been collecting for a year. But I think it's nice. I do wonder if sapphire would change the look though?

I am the proud owner of a SARB065, and it is one of the absolute favorites in my collection. Comparing the two versions, just a few thoughts: 1. I fully agree with you on the sub-minute divisions. On a dress watch like this, I think it is a little overkill and I would have preferred minute markers only, for a cleaner and more elegant appearance (and I'm saying this as someone who generally prefers function over form) 2. The crown: To my personal taste the crown on the SARB065 is aesthetically more pleasing - I find the SRPB43 version to be just a little bit oversized and "industrial" looking in relation to the rest of the watch;, BUT as far as usability goes, the SARB065 crown is the most awful and annoying piece of ** - being curved on the inside (I could almost describe the crown as a somewhat squashed onion shape); that, together with it being relatively dainty, means that unless you are blessed with the talons of an eagle, it is practically impossible to pull out the damn thing, so I'd choose the SRPB43 crown any day. 3. The hour-indices on the SARB065 (except for 6, 9, and 12) actually consist of two separate segments, and again I very much prefer those on the SRPB43. I think that they look more elegant and again contribute to making the dial look less "busy/disjointed". A last remark: When this Presage line was introduced I bought one, but I went for the SRPC03J1 as I didn't want two versions of the same watch. That model also has a stunning dial with an intricate texture, but to my taste it does not come close to the SARB065/SRPB43 variants. To this day, and mainly for the reasons given above, I regret not having chosen the SRPB43 instead.

Great looking watch, but they need to up their game with a better movement, sapphire, and a more modest case.

they should really think about dropping the automatic rotor with this style watch and going full mech. The crystal doesnt bother me , but a 12mm thickness for this style watch , does. Should be 10mm , tops.

I must say losing 9 hours of power reserve on an automatic watch makes no difference for my lifestyle. It’s winding whilst you wear it! When I wear my speedmaster I have to wind it. That’s when a power reserve should be called into question. I take my watches off for my 8 hour sleep. 41 hours is more than enough for my daily life. The crown is what sets this apart from the cocktail time and the fact that it is only 320 dollars! Is this the best 300 dollar dress watch brand new?

I have to admit, to me the block lettering "PRESAGE" looks clunky and out of place on this dial compared to the italicized script "Automatic" on my SARB065 (I do like the new onion crown, though). It also kinda bothers me that they put a less expensive movement in this new model, but didn't drop the price. I think I'll keep mine.
@dangerspouse47417 жыл бұрын
Yeah, I bet if they'd put "Presage" in cursive-italic that would have been a big improvement, you're right. My guess is that they wanted to keep font continuity among the entire Presage line. While I'm at it, I also like the way the hour markers on the SARB065 are broken up into two pieces. When you look at them from the side through the domed crystal, it really makes for a fantastic effect. Not that the single-piece markers are bad, but....

I had been eyeing the SARB065 for a long time and when this new line was announced I compared them to the old cocktails and decided to buy the 065. While this one is nice the old one has a few differences I prefer, like the script font and 6R15 movement.

I look forward to comparing them myself someday. Seeing as you've had that opportunity, I'll take your word for it. Can you describe what's different? I have to say though that even if there was a discernible aesthetic difference, I think I'd still opt for the 6R15 movement.

Well, ladies /can/ wear it, but they do need to like the over-sized look. And over-sized tends to look better with a fashion watch or G-Shock, with a dressier watch a bit smaller is better, and actually also for men. Example (of the old one) : i.imgur.com/aq3GWEj.jpg

@frikdt Жыл бұрын
No, you were not the only one - but then again I own similar models, so you could say I've been cheating a little ;) In fact, all the watches I own having deployant clasps (2 Seiko's, one Tissot) came with the straps fitted that way. And to me it is actually such a good idea that I started fitting the standard buckle-and-pin straps on several of my other watches in the same way. In the past I've had too many straps ending up with broken retaining loops or even getting ripped off because of the tail-end getting caught on all sorts of things. I have found that having the strap fitted with the tail on the inside of the arm, greatly reduces that risk.

I am sticking with the SARB065 (and 033, 035, 017). I don't care for this new movement. Losing 10 hours of reserve time is a deal breaker for me. The PRESAGE lettering is ugly. I wish they would have give this a blue sapphire crystal and a hand winding movement (not automatic). I do like the new crown.

@tombryan17 жыл бұрын
MaverickIQ the movement is almost the same as a 6R, just less decorated and slightly less power reserve. Who needs more than 40 hours reserve anyway. What you gain is a thinner movement, hence a thinner watch, 11.8 mm. I own both the presage and the 065 and the presage is much more pleasing to wear. 6R15s are overhyped.
