Instead of using the foil tape I had some exhaust sealant putty left over from a customer's exhaust I installed. Spread it over the 3 mesh cutouts on the tailpipe couple thin layers let it dry for an hour, did the flapper valve mod took 3 min and started the truck. Cheap easy mod

No muffler or free flow mufflers always sound good revving but the true test is at highway cruise speed. Its going to either sound good or drone so bad you cant hear your radio. If it drones you can make a j-pipe to help reduce it.

You should always weld your exhaust. Clamps suck. Sounds crappy before and after. Flowmaster muffler with a resonator delete is better. Remove that exhaust flapper. Its useless and it can get stuck causing a restriction in the exhaust.

How does it sound on the road any drone? I've heard that adaptive/flapper valve is a huge restriction. It is there so the truck doesn't sound goofy when it goes into 4cyl mode. I want to remove mine, but I'm first going to get the range master to stop 4cyl activation.

Just unbolt it before and hang it to the side. If you dont like it, put it back. the benefit of it all. My 05 silverado, i unbolted right after the cats on the Y pipe. That was loud as fuck and annoying

I think he his talking about the "Range" brand ob2 plug in that disables Active Fuel Management. I love mine. I bought an 8 cylinder truck, to have an 8 cylinder truck. I have 35's as well it still tried to shut off 4 cylinders every once in a while.

Hahaha as someone who's worked as a diesel mechanic, carpenter, and a nurse I've had my fair share of OSHA in-services. And I'm always the smart ass that brings up the moments safety glasses are worthless 😂. Wearing safety glasses , I got 2 part epoxy in my eye and metal splinter. I have more safety gear in my garage that collects dust. Everytime without fail I say ok self .. let's be safe today while using the table saw and wear my $30 safety goggles with foam cushion. And sure enough in 20 seconds they're so fogged up it's way more dangerous to continue wearing them than go without eye protection lol. I've tried all the no fog hacks and they still fog. So I'm a safety squinter 😂 or face shield guy now. Even face shields fog up . OSHA can suck my sweaty balls . They're a corrupt pos gvt agency that absolutely failed the American workforce over the last 3 years. Millions injured on the job due to illegal mandates and OSHA was helping to facilitate the damage.

Since deleting your muffler have you had any performance issues? I have seen and herd a lot of people day that the check engine comes on because the oxygen ratio is changed when you take the muffler completely off. Still awesome video. Can't wait do do this mod myself!

@@McMrs that valve is supposed to help hold heat and the exhaust in the muffler for longer to help it burn off. Your truck will still drop down to 4 cylinder. I deleted muffler and resonator and tack welded the valve in the open position. Truck sounds mint even if 4 cylinder it still growls just not as loud

My brother he should not have left that little flapper valve in there. You’re supposed to cut out both of them when you do the muffler delete or else it’s going to give you a really bad drone especially if you’re leaving the resonator on the rear near the tail pipe

Should've taken the third cat, butterfly valve out and welded it all together. Clamps are cheesy. Cold starts are the best after doing this mod. If ya haven't already, add a cold air intake and a throttle controller - just sayin'! 😎

Enough with the cold starts most people don’t realize that only really applies to old wore out diesel engines they have bad glow plugs or pre-fuel injected engines all modern engines start easily whereas the old stuff did not
