shift at 3000-3500 it’s nothing wrong looking at that tack that’s what it’s for or one of the of the reasons.

13 seconds in shows my two bikes, the FLSS on the right, and my Street Glide in the center. Love them both, you missed a chance at a great ride.

I like the idea of the M8 but not with all that garbage up front. I'm kind of a minimalist in that part of the front end. Wouldn't mind the better shocks and seat though.

I know what you mean. I'd love to see the M8 in a Low Rider or Softail. Will probably happen eventually. My next bike is a few years away, and will certainly be pre-owned.

I ride in 5th going 60 u.s. because I can pass a lot better. I usually wait until I get up to 70 -75 before getting into 6 gear on my M8.

Thanks for posting this. I do similar when I'm riding unless I'm on a steady cruise, not a lot of traffic, etc.

How does the ride compared to a Road King (my closest harley reference point)?

I haven't ridden a RK yet, maybe next year. All 3 bikes I rode that day rode like Caddies, lol.

Great motor, clutch sucks, handles the twisties real good.

Dont you hear that poor bike? Its saying shift me smdh
@bluesriderDF8 жыл бұрын
No, I don't/didn't. I ride an XL1200 which is geared pretty tall, has very loud pipes, and I wear ear plugs. I couldn't even hear these M8s. In 4th gear on my bike the engine lugs at 50mph. These 6 speeds...just not something I'm used to.

Nope, smooth as buttah!

55 mph you should be in 6th gear ,your rpm should be under 3000
@bluesriderDF8 жыл бұрын
I couldn't ride around on these mountain roads at 55mph in 6th gear, the RPMs would be too low and I'd be downshifting constantly. At 55mph, the Twin Cam 103 does better in 5th gear than 6th IMO. Maybe some M8 owners will chime in.

then use 5th gear .Your rpms are why to high. You riding red line all day isn't good for the bike or gas consumption that's for sure.

You are hysterical my friend. Red line is 6,500. I was between 3,000-3,500rpm for the brief test ride, not all day as you say. As I already said here, yes, 4th or 5th gear would've been better. I don't know what else to tell you. It was my first time on a touring bike, I had ear plugs in, the bike was very quiet, and the M8s are very smooth, I didn't "feel" the need to shift. Next time out it won't be an issue.
