Tom Bromley Talks Cars is a car blog designed to give high quality informative car content, where you will find me reviewing a variety of vehicles. In this video I tested the latest 2017 Subaru WXI STI.
For over two decades now the Subaru Impreza has offered supercar baiting levels of performance in a family friendly, four door package. However, controversially upon releasing their four generation of the rally thoroughbred the legendary moniker was dropped. And in its place we were greeted with the new 'Subaru WRX STI'.
The WRX STI sticks to a simple recipe of a 2500cc turbocharged Boxer Engine. This is good for 296bhp with just over 400nm of torque.
When the latest generation WRX STI first came to the UK the reviews were not overwhelmingly positive. People criticising the thirsty tendency of the Boxer powertrain and its one dimensional character.
The WRX STI finds itself in an interesting predicament, with people questioning whether it is still relevant amongst today's highly capable, versatile hyper hatches. Vehicles, that are not only rapid like the Subaru, but relatively frugal on fuel, well built instead, and easy to drive everyday.
The WRX STI has been face lifted for the 2018 market. Subaru hopes this will enable them to secure a larger percentage of sales from individuals who would have previously considering buying cars like the: Volkswagen Golf R, Honda Civic Type R, Ford Focus RS, Seon Leon Cupra 300 and Audi S3.

In 2018, they had the final edition of the Subaru STI in the UK and now you no longer can get STI's in UK.

Yes you guys are both right. When i went to the Subaru dealership to get my wrx, the salesmen was acting surprised when i said both aren't reliable but more so the sti. Still love sti's but it's nostalgia at this point.

very reliable ,, since 2010 these engines ,, i recently got 34mpg at speeds between 70 and 80 motorway driving ,, plus you can easily map these motors to actually beat the opposition !

Retrojon 5 the problem is tuners with no common sense, you can’t turn the wick up on the turbo with stock internals and expect things not to start breaking.

Retrojon 5 not anymore mate ..subaru not had problems since 2010 with pistons ..my mates is mapped to 380 bhp no problems as long as under 400 bhp and on our roads nowadays 380 is enough !

Subaru doesn't have the smartest of technologies but they work well and long. Same can't be said with eh German cars, quite the opposite actually.
