This is, by far, the best comparison video I've seen. Been researching between the two for a while now... was leaning toward Ford in the beginning and Ford wins. Will be picking up my new 2017 Escape Titanium in a few hours (had to have one shipped in to get the color and options I wanted...)

Ford Escape is a much better vehicle. With today's cars, reliability is a fraction difference. I know families who drive Toyota's and has problems with them. and the Dealership service depts are a huge problem to deal with. I know friends who drive Fords and never had one problem with them and over 200K before any signs of oil leaks, transmission issues etc.. I have owned Honda's, Acura's, Fords, Toyotas, Nissans, Volvo, Mazda's. My top choices is Honda, Acura, Volvo, Ford. I recently sold my 2008 Volvo S60, 11 yrs of trouble free driving, only oil changes tires and 1 battery replaced. one of the best cars ever. But due to a boomed up leg, I was having issues getting in and out of the car due to its low ground clearance. So I shopped around for a compact SUV, test drove all the ones I narrowed the list down to the CR-V, CX-5, Outback and Escape Titanium AWD 2.0L. Then narrowed that list down to the top two choices CX-5 and Escape. Overall both were super close and was a hard decision to make . both had the sportiest and most nimble ride and handling of the group. I think the Panoramic visit sunroof and the towing capacity what was the deciding factor in the Escape. The Escape won hands down. though not the most cargo space in the lot,(CR-V won in that cat. as did RAV-4) but the handling and ride were more responsive to the competition. AND the Horsepower/power plant 2.0L delivered 245 HP at 275 Ft of torc at 5000 RPMS, So no surprise towing beat the comp by a wide margin, with 3500 lbs, I have had my 2018 Escape AWD Titanium 2.0L for 1 month and have clocked in 928 miles Highway and city driving, took a road trip a couple of days ago and my fuel economy averaged better than the EPA est. 23 combination city/highway I got 26.5 combo.. And I have, at times, a lead foot. I expect this fuel economy to only improve with time as the Escape goes through the init break-in period. I do use premium unleaded to get the full use of the 245 HP. Ecobust. And the 0-60 time was better than most reviews.I clocked mine at 6.6 secs which is on par with the BMW X1 X28Drive 6.3 secs. The main difference with this is there is so much torc and power at the start with the AWD system/2.0L is keen on keeping the Escape composed and str lined the starting line. . I think with knowing how it responded I could beat BMW's time by a tenth or two-tenths of a sec. this SUV is powerful. Most critics even say may be to much power for the size. Let's just say passing on the highway is NO PROBLEM!, and smooth and quiet as well. This SUV is QUICK!, and it is built on the European Escape platform. Which equates to a more sports tuned suspension. RAV -4 is just one UGLY SUV, too much plastic and cheap looking (to me)) not sure what Toyota designers are on when designing their new Toyotas but they need to be fired!. Ford did not take Gov bailout money like GM and Chrysler.

I couldn't agree more with your review. And that is why i've decided to get a 2018 Escape Titanium with the 2.0L myself in white gold with beige interior. Beautiful vehicle that i hope lasts quite a while although i'll just be leasing it for 3yrs first and then decided if i want to buy it outright. Also it is recommended to use premium fuel NOT REQUIRED...!!! I know plenty of folks using 87 octane in there 2.0L Escapes with no issues. So don't let that sway you folks.

I’d recommend that anyone considering a crossover suv test drive both and also ask their trusted mechanic which car has a history of more longevity/more durable parts... ask your mechanic which car ends up on their lift more frequently. Most “new car” reviews don’t cover this... but most “new cars” do not have problems.. the buyer should also consider which car is going to start having problems in 2-3 years (unless you are leasing or trading in 2 years). Good video!

Your channel is so underrated man, you have some quality work! Editing might need some work, maybe a steady cam and not shooting so close when detailing engine and interior. Also, getting your own rolling shot would add a lot of value, good work though! Also, not using words like ugly, good, nice. :)

@awaters0206 The Ford has equivalent to TSS, with driver behaviour monitoring, active cruise control, lane departure alert, blind-spot monitoring, pre-collision detection etc but is part of their tech pack, not standard, but a very cheap upgrade at time of purchase, a little over a grand. Should be standard on the Titaniums IMO.

Heres a fact, mpgs will be determined by lots of things, first, geographical location, types of driving, load, weather, and of course driving habits. I typically in my area get around 630 to 650 in the summer from a tank of gas, not bad for a 4wd that weighs almost 2 tonnes mixed city and highway driving.Doing the same driving in the winter I get about 100km less, this is normal, why, we idle more winter tires weigh more there's more resistance pushing through the snow. Last year during the late spring on a trip through Quebec and eastern Ontario my fuel went to 794 km per tank, I could not believe it.

I ended up getting the 17 escape in magnetic with leather, fully adjustable power seats that are heated, trailer tow package key pad entry, ford pass, navigation, 2.0l engine, dual zone climate control, roof racks power lift gate and 72000km later its a great vehicle in all aspects of driving, especially in the snow, zero issues to report, my wife tells me its the second best decision we ever made. As far as the center stack, it makes sense to me after using it for so long

If something is within a 5% margin (horsepower, what about torque?!) or subjective (looks) you should NOT award a point to either vehicle. You have to give the RAV credit for looking unique, for better or worse. A 2017 RAV4 HYBRID Limited is under $36k. It has more power, much better fuel economy, and lower emissions. Use your phone and skip the tech package and it matches the Escape's price. Most buyers would be happy with the Hybrid XLE which is around $30k.

Toyota definitely does not have a better interior . I sat in one it feels tacky and that clunky ugly shifter is ridiculous . Toyota is still a great car but I drove both and couldn’t believe how much quieter and more refined the ford is . Long term Toyota engine will most likely have a edge in reliability since it doesn’t have a turbo . But at the end of the day the the toyitas engine is much louder and the cabin does not do a good job filtering out noise and also I noticed the ford soaks up bumps much better and feels buttery smooth .

I have been buying Fords for over 50 years. But when they started supporting NFL players kneeling during our national anthem, I wrote Ford a letter telling them how disappointed I was with them supporting the protest. They wrote back and told me that it was the players right to kneel during the anthem in protest So last Thursday I went and traded in my 2015 Titanium Ford Escape for a 2018 Toyota RAV4 Limited. I won't ever buy another Ford, but I really do love my RAV4, lots more room inside, and the standard 2.5 L engine has lots of power, and even new, it is getting better gas mileage than my 30 month old Ford Escape.

That's funny. You dumped a car you like because of players kneeling. This has truly been blown so far out of proportion. You totally ignored the reasons for the peaceful (very American) protest. So much easier to get your panties in a bunch about the national anthem. Good luck buddy. Sure hope your rights as a citizen are never compromised. There won't be anybody left to kneel for you.
