Honestly I just got one, my first time owning a new truck. I had a 92 Toyota pickup , drove like a beast!! Loved that little truck, decided i wanted a new truck for work. Love this Tacoma! I drive all day and I can tell you it's comfortable! For just one of the basic models it runs pretty good. I go up hills a lot , pretty steep ones and the 4cly handles well. Of course those v8 broncos gonna climb those hills easy (because there meant for that). This truck does it just as well, hit that little button ECT button and you'll feel it kick up. If you don't like the bumper then go buy a new one and get it painted, this bumper is textered. If your looking for a flashy truck and your disappointed with the inside get the TRD then lol. This is a utility truck mostly, back and fourth. You won't be disappointed with this purchase. We work for what we want right! Enjoy!

The one without the back seats and black bumper is called the Utility Package and actually reduces the base price of the truck by $1700 or so.

Bought a 2019 Brand New one last Saturday. They have added some more features since this model like lane assist, blue tooth, etc...… I love the 4X4 and the 2.7 4-cylinder engine, plus 2-year Free Maintenance! Paid cash in full, good deal! Highly recommend!

I bought a 2016 SR , great truck , no frills , nothing I don't need or want and a fine looking truck in my opinion . I am old school , trucks are trucks , not luxury cars . And the reality is that those that buy the loaded versions with all the bells and whistles will never see half the off road use mine does . You want a nice 4cyl truck , but one , you'll be more than happy

It's a great truck and a great deal. I now have 13,000+ miles on a 2016 with the dark gray paint, same truck otherwise, and it's actually great on gas. I break my trucks in the right way, no need to drag race the first 5000 miles anyway. To have a truck that stands tall and stronger than expected, and still get over 30 mpg on the highway, it's the best deal you will find unless someone can break in the Chevy Colorado and hit the 33 mark. You have to drive like you can't find the accelerator when taking off, but keeping the rpm's around 2000 or less is the key. The six speed transmission will help you do just that, I wish I knew if the v6 could be broke in for a high mpg rating. Toyota don't tell everyone the secret for the high numbers but they told me in 1993 when I bought my first new two wheel drive Toyota truck, and now I can't get away from them. Before Toyota I drove cars and trucks hard, and was quick to complain if they broke, but now I have much appreciation for car manufacturers. They can't make armored trucks out of plastic, and we can't afford much more than plastic, not in my neighborhood anyway. Didn't want this to sound preachy but if someone wants to know if Tacoma's are really worth it, I say yes and they're getting better every year.

It would have a 4x4 badge on the side of the tail gate if it was. I got a regular cab '03 4-speed automatic 4x4 with 267k miles. Toyota hasn't made the transition to synthetic oil yet. Tip: after about 500 miles, drain that factory break in engine oil that is 0W-20. Use full synthetic 0W-40 Castrol. Also, drain both differentials and Transfer case, and use full synthetic 75W-140 instead of 80W-90. The first generation requires 5W-30, but I've used 5W-50, 20 and 30 do not protect as MUCH. These trucks are extremely tough and built to last 300+K fairly easily. Maybe a water pump, rack and pinion, door handle, lighting could be the few problems on the way to approaching 300K miles. Toyota quality is second to none. Excellent value with these entry-level pick-ups.

scary how you can straight up view the ground below engine, makes it easy acess for rodents to make nest under hood and chew up those soy based wires they love so much costing thousands to repair.

A) That is not consumer reports that is an individuals customer's review who claims he bought the truck B) There is absolutely no information in the review whatsoever. He goes on and on about how he wished he didn't get the truck but tells us absolutely nothing about why. If there are legitimate problems I would love to know but unfortunately this review should definitely be ignored. It is kind of irrelevant anyways, the review you posted referred to the TRD Off road which only comes with a V6 and the new transmissions. This Tacoma in this video has the same 4 cylinder and 5 speed manual that has been around forever and proven to be one of the most reliable motors/transmission combos on earth.

i don't pay attention to that shit. i've never had a Tacoma break down on me, but i also don't buy a first year model of any vehicle. but i do have 2017 model, and so far that truck has been reliable and dependable for the 8 months that i've own it for.

michael lee a $25,500 basic 4 cylinder Tacoma is not overpriced, the fully loaded TRDPRO Tacoma is a bit overpriced for a $43,450 but still worth it. So the basic? Hell no it’s not over priced.
