I have a 2009 4.0L extended cab Taco, it has 235k miles and runs smooth no shakes; sometimes I forget its on and double crank it. No leaks. Only did radiator flush, transmission fluid flush once. Just did oil and spark plug changes and runs like a champ. Toyota is very reliable.

Sadly, I gave up my 2011 Tacoma last year due to the frame rusting from the inside out. I spent a fortune to get it to look the way I wanted. Now, I drive a crappy 2022 Jeep cherokee limited. However, I am on the hunt for another Tacoma! 2015 with the long bed, 4.0, and the color doesn't matter at this point. But, the Barcelona Red, is my favorite!

Only had a few batteries, break shoes replacements, and alternator go out...... INCREDIBALLY RELIABLE!!!!! I have taken very good care of my truck and drive it well. I have a 2005 crew cab, Tacoma SR5, TRD off road, V6, 4x4, Automatic Transmission. It 's a Great truck. 214,000 miles and counting, I live and work on rough dirt roads in mountain terrain, not highway miles! it still drives like the day i bought it, shifts smooth as butter, I have done factory spec per owners manual maint too the T since day 1.I power wash under the truck every couple months....Most vehicles will last a long time if taken care of, that means replace things before they falter, shocks, radiator, hoses, front end bushings. Spray the cv boots and all the rubber on the car with silicone spray a couple time a year. Maintaining a vehicle will save you Money and maintaining a Toyota just makes sense, it will last a lifetime if you do.

So I just bought a 2011 Tacoma with the 4 cyl. in it. Just hit 100 grand before I bought it. It has never had any issues, so I figured it has been through the break in period. Prior owner took very good care of it and followed all the recall probs (no big ones). I couldn't be happier with this truck. All the bugs are history and I reap the rewards.

@@jakesock58 A 2007 with only 42k is incredible! Just keep up with your oil changes and fluid changes (brake fluid, tranny fluid, coolant, transfer case, diffs) and she'll last a long, long time.

I've owned a 2011 TRD since new I bought in 2010. 385,000 Kilometers, and I have never had a single issue. Routine maintenance only, and a recall where I had the leaf springs replaced for free by Toyota. I was going to trade it in for a '24 Trail Hunter, until the dealership told me there is a 2 to 3 year waiting list.

I have a 1998 V-6 4x4 I absolutely love this truck. It has 230,000 miles on it, the only thing I’ve done other than oil changes is replace the starter and alternator. It still has the original clutch.

It looks like 2009 was a bad year based on a little research on my part but it never failed me. So now I'm in the market for a new Tacoma. Yes, I own a 2007, Toyota Tacoma Crew Cab with tow package that's given me no problems as of today's date: 11 July 2023. I purchased it from Dick Dyer here in Columbia, S.C.in 2007 and it had about 45,000 miles on the Odo. Currently, it has 117,600 miles--all done by my wife and me. I have had all recalls worked by the dealership and I keep a good eye on the maintenance of this vehicle. I would definitely recommend this year or second gen. Tacoma to anyone out there looking for one!

The 80’s and 90’s toyota pickups and Tacomas are by far the most reliable. I’ve owned a1994 4x4 22re manual bought new for $14.5k and have only done routine maintenance. Now has right at 200k miles and still in perfect condition. I also own a1996 Tacoma 2.7 manual bought slightly used for $16.5. Also still running great only routine maintenance. I used undercoating over everything shortly after purchase. My insurance and taxes are low. Best vehicles I’ve ever owned. Along with a great 2006 Highlander. It now has almost 300k on it.

Still driving a 2000 Tacoma 2WD 2.4 L Auto Transmission, frame and body rusty from NYS Salt but still passes NYS Inspection with 237,000 miles on it. 3 of the 4 ball joints have been replaced in the 12 years I have owned it. Original Transmission, Rear Axle, 2 Shocks on Front. Engine was replaced after I bought it with 47,000 miles on it by my mechanic who got it from an vehicle auction place in Virginia, once they changed the oil in initial service, it started burning oil like crazy. They tore down the engine, found a ton of filings in the oil pan, figured the original owner never changed the oil, then the auction place probably put 20W-50 oil or even gear oil in it so it wouldn't smoke. My mechanic bit the bullet, replaced it himself at no cost to me. Put in another 2.4 L engine with 27,000 miles from a side rear end wrecked Tacoma. Still running strong with no issues except the rusty frame, probably have 2 more years before it won't pass NYS Inspection. 😢

My 2.7 09 Tacoma is a tank, I’ve raced it, delivered in it, forgot to do oil changes and redlined it to the moon for fun. The truck was my first vehicle and it’s still running to this day. 126k miles original everything except battery

Yeah, I still owe own my 2009 I bought new! 2.7 Yep, they were tanks. Probably the best motor ever built. I don’t believe that nonsense about 09 having problems. I still consider it a new truck. I parked it under oak trees so it never gets abused from the sun. It just stays dirty but when I detail it 95% of the paint still looks like new and the motor runs absolutely like new with 150,000 the record is 1,200,000+ on the 2.7.

2011 PreRunner V6 with towing package. Bought new. Now 285,000 miles. Great truck. Doesn't burn or leak oil. Rebuilt AC at abt 4 years old. New front brake pads at 90,000 +/- & 265,000 +/- miles. New alternator at 275,000. New gas cap at abt 165,000. New spark plugs at abt 100,000. Synthetic oil chanes at abt 7,500 mile intervals. Cabin filter at abt 235,000. Headlight units replaced under warranty at abt 40,000 (parking lights were charging plastic. Replaced headlight bulbs at abt 12:30 235,000. It's easy on tires - average abt 75,000 a set. No other issues. Regularly take it on 700 mile trips with no concerns abt reliability. Thought abt (and test drove) a new one while you can still get V6 but didn't see a reason to spend the money.

In 2012, I bought a 2008 Toyota Tacoma crew cab trd prerunner for $12,500. It had 97,000mi, had been in a bad accident, frame was bent and had a salvaged title. Now has 270,000mi. Tires: drove on the first set of tires till they were shot, no weird wear. Just bought my second set of tires in 2021, no weird wear, even with a bent frame, got lucky🤞🏼 Transmission: every once in awhile, when I'm sitting at a red light, it will feel like it's shifting down? I asked my mechanic, he said, they do that. I asked if I should get it rebuilt, he said not till it blows up 😂. At 160,000mi it started slipping. I asked my mechanic if I should do a service. He said he wouldn't do it because it would probably get worse, just leave it till it quits working. 100,000mi later and it's still running strong and it stopped slipping 😂. Catalytic Converters (it has 4): my truck wouldn't pass smog. I took it in to Toyota. They said I needed to replace all 4? $4000 in parts + installation. I told them I couldn't afford it. Then they told me I could probably just replace the front two, $3000 + installation. Recalls: first I got a recall for the leaf springs, Toyota replaced them, sweet. Then there was a recall for my frame 😅. I never got it inspected (I'm an idiot). Needless to say, this truck paid for itself and then some. Starts every morning 🙌

I own a 2010 TRD DBL CAB 4X4 that I purchased new. I have 189,618 miles on it. I've had a few warranty repairs made by the dealer. The stock sound system sounds poor. The rear drum brake shoes finally wore out at 167,000 miles. The dealer was surprised and told me that most last 250,000 +. I drove mine off road mountain passes in Colorado for many years, and really like the size for that sort of thing. No major issues. I'm 73, and it will most likely outlast me. Mileage isn't great on the 4.0L 5 spd auto at 17.8 MPG tops hwy. Change my oil with full synthetic every 5,000 miles. Love my Taco.

I Bought a 2007 V6 6 speed, extended cab. Drove it til 2014 with zero issues, had people fighting over it at trade in time. I now have a 2013 4 dr cab V6 auto that now has 200,000 KM on it, same deal, no issues, looks great and they were/ are work trucks. I might look for a new truck or maybe just keep this one until it dies. We had our first Camry for 430,000 Km and our 2nd for 345,000 Km, no issues with either and our son is on his 3rd 4 Runner with no issues. Keep the oil changes up to date and if it needs anything more, just fix it. We have never had to do any repairs other than wear items like brake pads on any of these.

Shoot, my dad had a 2007 Tacoma trd Something, he got it since he had a shitbox and needed something to carry a newborn me, and till this day, that Tacoma still runs as if it were brand new. The only thing that’s broken is the radio volume knob which doesn’t work…you try to turn it and goes to random volumes, other than that my dads truck works like a charm and he lets me use it too

I have a '05 TRD pre runner that I bought new and have 298,00 on it. The only issue I've had other than regular maintenance is had to replace u-joints around 250,000 due to vibration in the driveline which I considered normal because dang ! 250,000. Best truck ever.

Very interesting. I have a 2011 Tacoma pre runner 4 Dr TRDSport, v 6 , has been great truck. Has 130k & is solid. I change oil about 4K miles. I have a 2006 Silverado V 8 with 177k, paint coming off, roar in rear end or wheel bearing, engine light stays on ..no one knows why...air conditioning is broke again. I am afraid to take it far from home. Both are outside trucks, both got same maintenance initially..now Chevy is used for short hauls of trash or garden supplies.

Almost to 250k on my 2011 TRD Offroad, nothing too crazy on mechanical issues JBL radio volume control only works on steering wheel control (knob will have volume all over the place and it is the same on my sister's 2009 Sequoia) replaced the u-joints a few times and a new center support twice (Get a Toyota factory one because the parts store sucks) Front brakes twice in 150k miles (only use factory pads and rotors) Brake calipers at 240K miles rear brakes and drums once at 170K miles A/C Compressor at 175K miles I still love my truck and the Speedway blue is my favorite color and mine looks amazing for being 11 years old.

As always, never buy the first year of a new generation. Think about how much more reliable a 15 (the last year of gen 2) would be compared to a 16 (the first year of gen 3)

I have a 2015 v8 pre runner. Owned it since new and the only issue i have had is that the original tires were faulty, the dealer replaced them for free. Oh and when my wife borrows it somehow it gets another scratch or little dent somewhere. It has 78,000 on it (late 2023) and i have had ridiculous offers for it, all of which i flatly refused.

Got a 21 TRD Sport Taco 2 months ago, a bit getting used to after a 05 LS Crew Cab Silverado. It was the Toyota dealerships service managers lease truck, so it was taken care of!~ Mine has a weird thing about the cruise control, I set it to 77 and it will go to 76 with no cars in front of me, an it's normal CC (long hold).

Most of the complains are the shifting ,people dont know that it changes depending on what the computer says it will change from direct to port injection or vice versa, the driver will feel it or hear it

I know the 3.0 V-6 gets a bad rap, but I have a 1992 4x4, manual trans with 320K miles.It uses a quart of oil every 1500 miles. I have changed the oil and filter every 3000 miles. I did the head gasket recall at 50K.

I On a 2014 Toyota Tacoma TRD off-road pro V6 absolutely amazing never had a problem whatsoever. I have 160 km Never missed a beat. It’s been great for offloading. I take really good care of it and it takes good care of me. I love my Toyota Tacoma and I will never sell it. Keep it forever …. My cousin up north he has a 2012 off-road TRD he drives the crap out of it. I believe he’s got over 700,000 km on it. They handle great great snow hearing Canada. We get very extreme weather both ends. My air conditioning works as good as the day I bought everything else. Everything‘s tight awesome vehicle best vehicle I’ve ever I’ve only jeep grand Cherokee Dodge ram, never go back to American made products just junk spent thousand fixing this junk American. I’ll never buy dodgy and horrible ass. Just ask anyone that drives a Toyota and they’ll tell you reliable zero problem the end I have to search no longer.

I drive a 09 double cab prerunner and have had in 3 years, 60k miles out of it trouble free other than having to replace the rear u joint twice in that time. Outside of the paint fade and clear coat cracking which makes the truck look a lot worse for the wear than it really is. And a new issue that popped up at around 185k where the door look actuator quit working I've not had any issues with it.

I own a 2004 Tacoma and love it. I've driven and owned other trucks, but none of them are as easy to work on or as comfortable as my Tacoma. Only issue I have is my rheostat has gone bad and it's a discontinued parts so I can't even replacement. Otherwise best vehicle I've ever had the chance to drive. When it dies I will absolutely be getting another Tacoma.

I bought a 2007 new. Silver paint still looks like new. Only thing that has needed fixing was the e brake cable. I should have protected the frame from the road salt as it is not looking healthy. 197K :)

@@kemangraya2382 I wished I had applied something like wool wax or fluid film on the undercarriage annually from the start. Didn’t know about the frame being a big problem in salty WI. I just ran it through the car wash every few weeks in the winter. It still roadworthy after 15 winters.

I have a recall on my 2013… i haven’t had any issues with it at 120,000 mi but I keep getting an email every month to take it in to resolve the issue… I just don’t feel like taking it to Toyota to change the label in the door (incorrect tire pressure printed on the label) 😆

The first on was brand new - TRD Sport w/ 6 speed manual. I sold that after 4 years (sad subject) missed it so much after a couple years that I found my current one - TRD off road automatic. both have been great and have never had issues.

I’m a new driver only been driving for a year and have baught a TRD sport 2015 Tacoma thing is a unit I have not had any issues with it at all the only thing I dislike about the truck is the MPG other than that she’s a beut

I’ve got a 2011 and it’s the most reliable vehicle I’ve ever owned and I’ve owned a lot and every major brand. Tacoma is Hands down the most reliable vehicle. Just clicked over 200k. Basically done standard maintenance and that’s about it. Can’t go wrong with them.

My first is a 1989 4X4 EX Cab(still have and running well, used as hunting truck), Then bought a 1995 EX-Cab 4X4 (Wife took in divorce, I miss that truck), next is a 2001 EX-Cab 4X4 (Still have 324567 miles running great, my daughter drives daily), 2006 four door 4X4 TRD 229453 miles and still my daily driver. If you have not figured it out I am a Loyal Tacoma Owner.

I bought my 2016 toyota tacoma 4x4 4cyl 5speed manual sd new for 23,800 iv put 95,000 miles on it. I change oil every 5k miles on time at dealers and iv not had one single problem . I love this truck 3 inch lift makes it look like TRD put rock bars on side and it's a sweet ride. Iv taken her on a few challanging camping adventure trips and lots of snow driving . I got the 2.7 5speed manual becouse they are bullet proof. Can't wait to post when I get 500k then 1 million miles on it. Thats what the toyota 4cyl engine is known for. 1 million miles. there is no need to sell this reliable truck. I keep her new looking. I was just offered 25k but then what? Go buy a 45k to 55k new toyota tacoma truck.. no thanks ❤ Do yourself a favor and try and find this same 2016 truck 2.7 5dpeed 4x4 6ft bed acess cab jump seat basic SD model.

I got a 2005 tacoma I purchased it when it had 150k miles now it has 223k miles. I have replaced shocks, clutch, brake pads, valve gasket, the outer & inner rods. I love my Taco, but i will let her go this year 😢. The engine & transmission is still strong.

My 2016, 2.7 4cyl, perfect at 93000 miles. Not a clunker, no repairs at all, haven't even had to do the breaks yet.. Bad year? Lol😅 not at all, buy it again in a heartbeat

We have a 2014 tacoma with 23x,xxx miles on it, and it starts like its brand new every single time. We are considering buying a 2017 Tacoma, just because we are moving and beginning to commute further for work. And honestly it's a hard decision.

Most of these problems are simple fix. Pushing 180k HARD miles on my 2008 and i’ve never had any serious issues. Amazing machines

I paid 5300 for an 07 4x4 tacoma reg cab 2.7 5 spd. All original drive train and 4x4 works great. .just turned 240 000 mi. Had it 2 years and drive it daily no problems. Its lifted and widened....a real eye catcher. I plan on 300,000 easy. Full disclosure: the previous owner took it in on the frame recall in 2016 and it didn't qualify for a new frame. It did get new heavy duty leaf springs. 5 years later I had to patch a small spot on the frame. I patched and reinforced so there's no issues for years.

the whole thing abotu recalls is a tough one becasue some people dotn take the vehivle in to get then fixd fr free , on a recall on my older ford ranger I didnt take it in for almopst a year after the recall besacue Icouldnt afford to not have my truck because of work and als othe dealers shop were not open on the weekends so a yr later I finally took my truck in. I have known two people tha thave own tacomas and both trucks broke down and ahd to be sold, I am not saying that ther aer junk I think in those cases the iowners were at fault for not keeping up with things on them, for myself i probably would buy one if I could afford on but I would only buy one that was manual trans in it so basically finding a unicorn I have also heard that they are not the greatest truck for power meaning you may not be able to go for after market tires with out not havnt hte power to turn them but I am nto sure maybe it there was a 4 cylinder under the hood Ican see that issue . the last hing is I am not sur eif Iwould comforabily fit in tha ttruck I am 6'2" 240 Lbs large frame guy I barely fit i nmy ranger and there were times when my head would bump the ceiling in my truck when drivign over railraod tracks lol

I own a 07 toyota tacoma 4 door prerunner 52,000 mi. I drive it to work & back home only 6 miles, 5 days rarely drive it on the weekends. So far the only parts I changed was alternator & fuel pump which is weird because I have low miles. The original factory paint is still top shape. I notice the newer tacoma paint fades quickly. Overall love my truck.👍

I have a 2007 Double Cab SR5 TRD Off Road with 160K miles. No major issues. The paint could be better but over all it has been a dream of a truck. Hubby wants to sell it for a new model or a 4Runner. I love it and don't want to sell it. I bought it brand new. He inherited it after his mustang started falling apart. We bought a ford edge for me and that was a huge mistake!! Never again! I will stick with Toyota's. Maybe we should sell the edge and keep the Taco.
