This is embarrassing. Who okayed this city racing format? They should be fired. It's a mountain bike, stick to natural outdoor trails. Watching a bunch of road cyclists on an incredibly boring city circuit is not mountain biking. This will not inspire anybody to take up mountain biking or racing. I love short course MTB racing, but this is an absolute fail. Did not a single person imagine how slow it would be with cobbled city streets and rain? Oh and I hate to pile on, but that had to be the worst commentary I'm heard in many a year.

Why run knobbies at all for an urban course? Surely for a course with these many tight corners, do they not pack flat pedals and shoes to fiercely carve and dab, and not worry about pedal strike. My oh my, this is my first time watching XCE rules in action. As a mountain biker (mild XCM) turned majority gravel roadie, how do I explain XCE to other genres of cycling and non-cyclists? So embarrassing, sub-2 minute laps yet no punch of BMX and 4X, even CX riders carve and jump away corners faster these ARGGHHH! I've always thought XCE races were a lot longer; like for a 4 rider race, first lap no elimination to settle down the racers, then second and third lap eliminates the last rider on course, then it's a sprint out on the fourth lap for the race winner. See there you go UCI, 6 minutes of racing instead of this dull sub-three minute cruise. But 4 riders on course is a little too dull for me, 6 rider field now yields a 10 minute race without the endurance of XCO.
