I daily drive mine, a Sapphire Black one, which is a true sleeper. It's a 2015.5, one of the numbered cars, and the only year sapphire was offered as a color. I do take it to fun track days, snow driving events, and great rips through some winding back roads. The car checks so many boxes for me and still rings true after 28 months and 25k miles.

The 2016 comes in Black. Not sure if its called sapphire black though. I really enjoy mine also. Very fast and comfortable wagon. Also extremely rare too.

Joseph Muro Gotcha! It's sweet to have one of those numbered cars. I have a 2016 so it isn't numbered but it does have the slotted rotors like the 2017 have.

I own a 2015 Rebel Blue one. Pulled the CPU out and had it shipped to the Netherlands. Came back with 380 HP and 415 ft torque. Shifting is improved, but new 8 speed should be great improvement. Brakes are now taxed because of increased output but car is fantastic overall - rare to have so much more torque than HP. Great tires but did only 12,000km on summer tires and will only get 2 seasons out of winter tires. Car is also poor on gas consumption, but fun factor makes up for it...

I daily drive my S60 Polestar here in Canada...It's the perfect car for this country. 55,000km (34200mi) on it so far. I've driven it everywhere both in the winter and summer... to work and around the city...on road trips packed with friends and luggage... sometimes with roof racks/boxes. Once on a ski trip I drove 700km (435mi) non-stop on the freeway through a blizzard while many cars were sliding into the ditches.. I drove with absolute confidence and feel for the car on some nice snow tires. I've also tracked it and was able to pass some pretty fast cars/drivers... No other car begs to be DRIVEN in so many conditions as this one does. Adjustable Öhlins suspension? World class. Also, controlled snow/rain drifts are effortless in ESC off+sport mode (closed course obviously;) The Rebel Blue colour on it is always fantastic... Pops out in the sun and gets tons of compliments... looks dark at night and very masculine.. and looks great in rainy weather as well.. doesn't show dirt easily either..a truly unique colour. The Polestar is a ticket to feel a part of a special project by a team of dedicated and experienced engineers and race car drivers. Their goal was to make a car that their race car drivers wanted to drive to work...and with the help of some niche companies like Ferrita, Öhlins, and Brembo they've done that and so much more. Pop that bitch in sport mode through a tunnel and you'll be exiting the other side with a grin from ear to ear. (Yes I have the 6 cylinder)...When you compare it to a 3 series BMW you would think it compares to the 340i, when in reality it possesses the distinction of an Alpina D3 with the engine of the former. Cheers to all my fellow Polestar owners!

I have a 2017 white S60 Polestar, I use it occationaly, my son uses it more, both for school and car meetings. We have had it remapped and we use 98-100 octane fuel, it is around 4.3-4.5 sec to 100km/per hour, its runs 1/4 mile in just under 12 sec and uses 6 L/100km long distance, and around 9L/100Km in town.

2017 owner here. I bought because I love hot wagons and they are nearly extinct in the USA. I hope Volvo is successful with Polestar wagons and maybe Audi and BMW will wake up and bring their high performance touring cars back to the USA. There's a market for those cars here, they've just been too obsessed with SUVs for the last decade. I disagree the interior looks dated... I think it's elegant and well designed. The tech is long in the tooth for a $60K car. Having just come out of a very loud Porsche Cayman S, I think the V60 sounds fine. It's got a mild growl under acceleration and the exhaust makes a nice sound on upshifts. My only complaint is the suspension which is very stiff for lousy city streets. I wish it have an electronic magnetic system instead. (Tried adjusting it to the soft settings... it just made the car bouncy.)

Audi enthusiast here . Haven't been able to find replacement of my 04 Audi Quattro wagon with 6 speed manual transmission within Audi model lineup. Tried 15' S4 with 6 speed and sports diff. Drove it for two years. Comes only as sedan in the USA. Didn't work for me. Sold it a couple months ago and got a V60 Polestar. I'm much happier with the Polestar

I have a 2016 P* wagon in black. I drive it everyday. As noted in comments, brembos are 6 piston in the front not 4. I love it. I have little kids and as a gearhead have always love fast sleeper wagons.

The front pistons on The Polestar is actually 6 pistons. Not 4. It is the only car in its class which comes with a 6 piston front calipers (not an option).

I'll wait for the redesign. Interior is so dated at this point, and the new styling of the XC/S/V90 are too good to not to imagine them traveling down to the 60 series.

Old design is easier to use, because there's no touch monitor... It constantly gets dirty because of fingers... I decided not to wait and bought Volvo S60 Cross Country 2017.

One other thing.. Price points. Polestar are $60k. I was hooked on the original Polestar with its 500+hp! Not unlike Alpha Romeo Guilia! What became available is this watered down version with just 385hp four banger? IDK?

What is faster, this gen or the newer hybrid polesrars? Because the latter are heavier, and I'm told that it's higher hp rating is kind of a lie because you can't deploy full electric and full gas engine combined. Seems misleading, and I have yet to get a clear answer

Great review. I would take the old 6cyl 3.0 over the “ lawn mower” 4cyl 2.0 anytime. Simple math: 6 cylinders will last a lot longer than 4 cylinders. I have 2002 S60 T5 in manual with the IPD CAT and back exhaust and do not even turn the radio on; absolutely beautiful sound of the 5 cylinder. I wonder, how long the 4 cylinder will last without major breakdown. Anyone?
@nickcheema907
@nickcheema907 Жыл бұрын
totally agree, the inline 6 is the way to go. The 4 cylinder is a disaster with many issues including oil leaks, supercharger gasket leaks etc.
@marek19
@marek19 Жыл бұрын
@@nickcheema907 According to my extensive research, these years are th best to avoid, due to the supercharger seals leaks: 2017, 2018, 2019. 2020 and newer should be ok. Also, definitely worth to spend extra and use Premium fuel on these puppies, not regular. Hard to find very well maintained 6CYL V60.

@v60polestar88

Jrv200008 No! The transmission holds gears longer before changing. Using the paddies in sports mode though turns this car into a beast. If your from the states don't pay more than 50K. Volvo offers huge discounts on these. I was offered 9K off the top and talked it down to 48K

Jrv200008 90K. WTF! Volvo doesn't sell a lot of cars in the USA so discounts are steep. I live in the northeast where Volvo is very popular, but still doesn't sell well. Either way the Polestar is a awesome car. Fast and comfortable

Just to let you know that I am mainly only interested in SUV's or Crossover's. Comparisons are helpful and your top pick in this area would really be appreciated. Also, your evaluation of the electronics and Media interface is of interest. I need to know on a rating system basis how well the SUV handles, the ride quality and exactly how quiet is the interior to make an informed purchase decision.

I don't like the four-cylinder sound. They think they can cheat you with these four cylinder turbo charged and supercharged cars and you'll be well into the $60k range. Something needs to be done about this. Also look at two year old Volvos that you can get for $19,000. Very strange the loss of that much.
