Installation of the front mud guards requires a jack-nut tool that I would venture to say the average person would not have in their toolbox. You also have to temporarily remove the outside trim around the front wheel well which many may not be comfortable doing for fear of breaking something. My daughter and her husband just got a 2021 CX-5 and I installed the mud guards since I bought a cheap jack-nut tool a few years ago in order to install guards on my son's MX-5. Never thought I would need the tool again so I am glad I saved it. I also got them the retractable rear cargo cover, cargo net and all-weather cargo mat. I am happy that Mazda does not include these with the car since the price of the car would be increased and some buyers may not want them. In my daughter's case, she received a perk where she could purchase up to $400 worth of Mazda accessories for half-price. So, the $250 retractable cargo cover cost $125. Since she got a 7% discount from MSRP on the car, had this accessory beed included from the factory, she would have had to pay $231.50.

Nice addition would be hood supports, about $35 at amazon and 30 minutes to install. Did mine, hate the hood support rod.

Really glad you fanboyed out and got some of these accessories as it is helpful to see a review to aid my decision. Was the rubber from the brake and accelerator removed to install the alloy pedals? I see a screw on the accelerator pedal but not on the brake.
@jdbolander65743 жыл бұрын
When replacing the brake pedal cover, the pre-installed rubber pedal is removed and replaced with the new stylized one.

We had the same result with the footwell lighting kit for our 2017 Accord. It was the OEM Honda kit and we had it installed by the dealership we bought the car from when it was getting serviced. The first time I saw it at night I thought, "that's it?!?" Very disappointing from a value perspective. One other comment; no way would I have accepted that rear bumper protector with a kink in it like that. Send it back and get it from the dealer instead, even though you're going to pay more. At least you can be certain it's not damaged. These accessories are already overpriced for what they are, they have to be in perfect condition when I receive them.

I did not notice that but that's huge! That thing is gonna wear our over time and may not adhere too well either.

The foot-lighting kit, at least in Canada, is no longer available for purchase according to 'Mazda's website. Likewise, the OEM plates for the sides of the doors are no longer available.
@CoroaEntertainment6 жыл бұрын
A friend that works at a local Mazda dealer told me that they stopped selling the plates, because people were complaining that dust and dirt were easily caught underneath them, which would also trap water/moisture on rainy days, which can lead to paint damage and then rust forming. Here is an image taken from the above video showing gaps where debris can enter and get caught. tinyurl.com/yabmb47q

You may be able to find them in inventory from third-party sites that sell Mazda OEM parts and accessories. We used www.oemautopartz.com/mazda/ for most of our items (have no affiliation with them) and they shipped quickly, had reasonable prices, and seemed to source from dealerships that have inventory.
@jdbolander65743 жыл бұрын
While this site appears to no longer be active, you can simply do a web search of the part numbers and you’ll find plenty of places that sell them.

I also have the 2018 Mazda CX-5. I purchased the all-weather rubber floor mats (at 6:40). I would not recommend them. Within a matter of DAYS, there was extensive wear on the driver's side mat (from normal everyday use/driving) and within a few weeks, there was a hole in the driver's side mat where my right foot heel normally rest. Maybe I just got a defective floor mat, but bottom-line, they did not last long!
@jdbolander65744 жыл бұрын
After nearly three years of use, I heartily agree with you. The Mazda mats did not last or wear well at all. Similar to you, the rubber worn down almost immediately.

@@jdbolander6574 JD, thanks for the reply. I was thinking I just got defective mats. I am looking at floor liners, along the lines of WeatherTech, Husky, etc. Have you switched to some other mat / floorliner?

Be careful, my local dealer tried to install aftermarket rear parking sensors and didn't even bother to paint them, they were flat black and on a white bumper they stood out and were ugly. They also didn't install them in the proper positions, had to send them pictures of the locations from my 2017 with factory installed ones. They then had to swap my bumper with another on the lot, so they could install the OEM ones in the proper positions. Also the aftermarket ones beeped at everything not even close to the car, so backing down my driveway they beeped at the house, the fence, you name it, the OEM work like they are supposed to.

Can the dealership install the sensors once you buy the car?
@jdbolander65746 жыл бұрын
Yes, you can have the dealership order the sensors and matching color caps for your car and then have them install it. The kit was $275 but the labor was a whopping $723 for our install at Royal Automative Group in San Francisco, CA.

There are fasteners that come with the kit and they attach to the preinstalled clips in the trunk.

Did you get the front windows tinted through the dealership or third party?
@jdbolander65746 жыл бұрын
We went through a third-party company that specializes in ceramic-based tinting which cuts down on heat in the car and doesn't interfere with cellular or radio signals. For those in the SF Bay Area, we went with mistertint.com in San Jose.

Do yourself the favor and find out if all the the lug nuts on your vehicles are actually a one piece and not a two piece (aluminium cap over the actually lug nut) otherwise if they are I can assure you that your going to have a difficulty time removing them in the event you get a flat tire while driving on the highway...My Ford Fusion apparently is having this issue thank god I haven't got a flat tire yet, but I'm differently going to replace all 20 lug nuts with new solid steel lug nuts, purchasing them on Amazon.

All that stuff you spent money on and didn't get an air deflector for the sunroof?? Cuts way down on noise when you have it open and redirects airflow over the car vs creating a swirling vortex inside!
