I think I’m mostly annoyed at Chevrolet for picking such an obscure bolt size. Screw em I’m just gonna replace with whatever 1/4” drive screw I have kicking around. There are tabs on either side of the door, just below the screws that should be squeezed in to open the door. If you try to just flip it open, the tabs could break. Mine did. They seem to hold the door in place in addition to the screws.

Well mine (daughter's) is 2019 and nothing was so simple. I would prefer a clip that goes around the front. The directions in the book say that after the screw removal, one pushes the clips to the "inside." That did nothing and would not allow me to get the door open. I took a screwdriver and strength to get that door out of those clips. Putting it back, it would not go in tightly in the clips so I was thankful for screws. Pretty much the same as the 2002 Avalanche I had. Got to be a simpler design...the screw behind the housing a bit on left limits certain tools, too. Oh, and the squeeze in wasn't as easy as the video either...wonder if gets more flexible after time passes. That said, your video filled in the holes and helped figure out work-arounds.

I have a 2020 equinox with very low miles. Lately I'm noticing a bit of musty air when I first turn on the AC. I've replaced the filter several times myself in the past but I'm wondering your thoughts on removing the filter to conservatively directly spray a good antibacterial directly into the intake where that filter slides in? I see vids on spraying into the vents at the base of the windshield but it seems to make sense to bypass all that and spray a little directly into the air intake where the filter is to begin with? I'm concerned to not cause any type of electrical short in doing so. Then I would also spray into the windshield vents since the filter is out. I realize the best way is they spray a cleaner directly into the AC water drain from under the vehicle get it up into the coils, but I'm trying to avoid the expense of going there unless I have to. My thought is perhaps it may be the best conservative attempt before paying someone to do it. Any feedback is appreciated:)

Why GM installed screws in the in cabin air filter housing is beyond me. I had a 2012 Equinox previously and there was no screws. I have a 2020 Equinox that I purchased in February and for some reason the dash gets dusty and needs a frequent wipe down. The odometer is only 3.5K and I live in the city.

How often does this need to be replaced? I have a 2019 equinox. I have a horrible mildew like smell that comes from AC. This happens after I haven’t used the AC in a few months during the winter. It’s happened the past two years. The first year, I took it to the dealership and they turned on a fan or something that wasn’t on due to factory preset. The dealership I took it to (twice) this year can’t figure it out. Half the people don’t even smell it but I do. It’s very strong and actually takes my breath so I don’t think it’s good. Any ideas?

Its good to replace these filters at least once a year - depending on how much you drive. There are products that you can spray in the intake for your A/C system to help with mildew smells - you can find them at pretty much any larger auto parts store. Some people also just use Lysol to do this.
