I’ve replaced a hand full of pinch sensors for the sliding doors, not super common, but a fairly easy fix. Centre rollers seem miserable on these, so hopefully they don’t turn into a problem like the older generations

I have a 22 Odessey and the other day as I was driving, I got the “Electric Parking Break Problem” warning and simultaneously the transmission will just randomly shift gears on me for no reason. The transmission issue happens usually when I apply the break. Have you heard of similar issues?

Thank you very much for your informative video. I own a 2018 Odyssey Touring (bought it used) and was recently informed by the dealership that my vehicle has a minor oil leak in the main seal, which is located between the engine and transmission. They didn't recommend immediate repair due to the leak's insignificant size. Subsequently, I had an oil change at a reputable independent garage. During a conversation with the service advisor about the oil leak, I was told they had encountered another Odyssey from the same generation with an identical issue. I'm curious to know - is this a common problem with these Odysseys, or is it merely an unfortunate coincidence?

We do see them from time to time, although it’s not something we are consistently seeing. As they climb up in mileage they will be more likely to leak tho.

2018 odyssey here: transmission replaced at around 60,000-70,000 . It started with a grinding noise and drop of rpm. Christmas light and van did not turn on. Eventually the dealership replaced the fuel injectors and solved the problem. Recalls of sliding door, seat belts and backup camera replaced. Still have that annoying acceleration issue coming off a full stop or while steering wheel is fully turn either side. Now going through the battery drain issue, and yes we triple checked any dome lights left on.

@BCautosolutions It was a bad battery! The autozone said battery was ok with their machine. Put battery back, same thing but no patterns. Long story short took it back one more time before heading to dealership and replaced with new one (still under warranty). Van is good now. I’m having problems with my elite 2018. When I go on reverse, it doesn’t go and I have to turn off the car and turn on, then it will work. When the car isn’t turned on for awhile, I have to warm up the engine so when I put it on drive, it will move. Otherwise, it takes awhile for the car to move then it jumps. Basically, it lags.

My wife has a 2020 EX and we did have a problem with the popping radio. Unfortunately, the first tech did not fix it on the first try and 8 months later we had to take it back. The second tech fixed it permanently as it's not been an issue for 2 years now. My understanding is that can be a tricky fix. We also had the recall done for the sliding doors and cluster update. I agree that the brakes on this van are under sized. in 40,000 miles I have turned the rotors once and just replaced them last October. They are now warped again. No comment on why.

Thanks for your feedback. Yeah the popping issue was/is i huge issue although like anything else with time we have been able to pinpoint the culprits for each vehicle (all different locations). Have a 2018 Honda Odyssey and the horn quit working. Check the fuse it’s good, bench tested the horn it worked. Of all the steering wheel controls its the only thing not working so I don’t suspect the clock spring. Could not find a relay location even after hours of searching Google and the manual. I finally gave up and took it to a reputable Honda mechanic. They hooked it up to four different scan computers and none of them even recognized that the car even had a horn. Sure can’t diagnose a problem when the diagnostic tools show it doesn’t have the part! Don’t know what to do next. Any suggestions?

I own a brand new 2023 Honda odyssey in Vancouver. After two weeks of delivery we start hearing “clicking” sound underneath the dashboard at driver side. There’s a forum at Reddit suggesting bad cv axle or strut, but my dealership can’t pinpoint the issue and claiming the aftermarket floor mats, or plastic trims are making the noises. It happens in hot weather. No sound when temperature drops down below 18 degrees Celsius. Tried to tape all gaps of trims and tie up the cables around fuse box but still no luck. Anyone having the same issue here? I even switched back to oem mats too.

I have the same issue. I just bought a used 2019 honda oddyssey from a certified dealer (vern eide honda sioux city, iowa) and the first day i got the car home the check emission system light came on. I live 1 hour away so i had to drive and take it to the shop and they said there was a small leak in the lines. They fixed it for free and i was fine with it. Brought the car home and drove it for 4 days. The check emission system light came on again. Contacted them and they said for me to bring it back. I brought the car back to them again. This time they said the car charcoal canister needs to be replaced so they replaced it after i waited 7 days before i got the car back. Drove the car home and in 3 days the light came back on again. Called them again telling them how frustrated i am with the car. They apologized and told me to bring it back again. I brought it back and thia time they said the fuel injectors was pumpimg too much fuel and needed to be replaced. I told them thats fine but you guys need to find out why there ia so much issues and so much leaks with the car. They said it wont happen again. This time i waited 3 weeks before i got the car back. Note: At this point the dealership has had and seen/test drive the car longer than i have all together while owning it. After the 3 weeks i drove the car for 6 days, almost 1 full week. Guess what? Check emission system light is on again. Contacted the dealership sales manager and he said he is sorry what is going on and that he will contact me back asap. 3 days passed and i havent heard a word from the sales manager. I was getting really irritated, pissed off and frustrated with the car so i decided to drive there and talk to the sales managers myself. When i got there i felt like the sales managers and consultants didnt want to help me at all. The sales manager finally came and try to kiss ass to me saying he is sorry and what can he do to help. I told him i want a new car or my money back. He said gice him 1 more chance to fix it. This time itll be good as new and promised me no more leaks and check emission light. I told him i will give him another chance to fix it and if he doesnt fix it i want a refund or a new car or my legal team will be in contact with them. They had the car for a total of 10 days. Claimed they fixes everything. Picked up the car from them and drove it for 6 days again. Guess what. Check emission light comes on again. This time i drove straight to them and demanded a new car or my money back. At this moment im still waiting for another van because they arr currently out. I just thought id shared with everyone about my bad bad experience. Looking around to see if people.had the same issue as i did. For some reason im reading from the 40k - 80 k milage on these cars then the check emission light comes on for a leak, co2 sensor, canister, gas cap, fuel ejectors and much more. Idk why these cars has so much issues with this but it really frustrate me. I lost about $350 on gas money driving 1 hour each time just for them to fix it. Each time i went i had to drive 2 cars. The most important thing is the time wasted out of my life just for this bs. I had to call in 2x at work and ask.for days off just to deal.with this issue. I really hope honda would fifure this out because a lot of people are having the same issue.

I had that same message across my screen emissions system problem with the check engine light on. Dos you notice you gas milage was horrible and the green economy light wouldn't come on your dash anymore it was always white. It turned out it was my purge valve.

Is there a 6th Generation Honda Odyssey coming in 2023 as a 2024 model year or Honda is discontinuing its Minivan?

Can't wait for the 6th gen. Things I hope to see are - climate controls decoupled from infotainment and all hard buttons, like the new Pilot - ceiling vents for 2nd and 3rd row, like the 4th gen - removable front center storage that can make a walkway from the 1st row to 2nd row, like the 4th gen - extra compartment at the bottom of the center console, where the "cool box" was on the 4th gen - passenger seat shelf like on the new Pilot

One could always hope, although if sales keep declining, might not be another generation.
@Blank00
@Blank00 Жыл бұрын
@@BCautosolutions Hopefully Honda understands that the sales dip in 2022 were due to supply chain issues. 6th gen Odyssey shouldn't be too hard. Odyssey has always had the same powertrain as Pilot. Interior wise, what they should do is carry over the Pilot interior, but change what's below the Climate buttons so that a walkway from 1st row to 2nd can open up if the center console is removed.
@BCautosolutions

@@Blank00 considering Honda loves the new design language that it’s in basically the whole lineup, I would think that would carry over into the new odyssey as well. Only time will tell. 👍🏻

Is it normal for alignment to go out on a 3-4 month old van 2023? 3 of our 4 tires failed for alignment. At Honda they told us that’s normal. Also our odyssey automatically switches to manual shift while driving down the road, is that normal?
@BCautosolutions
@BCautosolutions Жыл бұрын
Tire wear is dependent on driving style and roads driven on with pot holes and stuff. It should not be switching modes tho
@cardbored_
@cardbored_ Жыл бұрын
The only time I've experienced it switching modes is if I accidentally touch/tap one of the paddles behind the wheel. It seems Honda automatically switches to Sport mode when you touch a paddle, not sure I agree with that implementation but that's how our 2024 works.

Just bought a 2023 and I’m happy that your conclusion is that you either get a good one or can get a buggy one. So far almost 3,000 miles in. Thanks for reassuring about VCM not being bad on these. Are the valves on these ones prone to gunking up thanks to DI?

TRANSMISSION SUUUUUUUUCKS! Delays between hitting the accelerator and the car starting to move (especially when trying to accelerate quickly) have caused my van several near misses. Dealer says it can’t be fixed - an artifact of adaptive tranny. Honda’s aware, but won’t offer a fix because not enough owners have complained. I’m buying Toyota from now on!

I’m not in the market for a van, but I alway appreciate one. The SOHC J35 with the 10 speed is sweet but something I know will be fading away. What’s your take on VCM muzzler? It’s always a controversial topic. Also - would you always disable the start stop? (I know there’s bypasses for that too, voiding warranty aside) Thank you for the rundown as always. There’s always more room for Honda content on KZbin.

So yeah the j35/10 at combo works well. We have 2-3 nearing 200k on original powertrain so that’s reassuring. I would stay away from the muzzler, we haven’t had any oil consumption issues or spark plugs fouling with the earth dreams engines thus far. I absolutely can’t stand the auto start/stop and would absolutely bypass it. Appreciate you watching!
