Much prefer the look of this Focus to the newer one. Have had a couple in the past - mk1 and 2 - and wouldn't hesitate to buy another. Great cars, cheap as chips to run and insure, and practical.

Active is not 4 wheel drive but so are 90% of suv and crossovers.

I have the 1.5 diesel version of this. Great video BUT you have not mentioned the horrific issues with the Eco boost engine with its wet cam belt! The whole engine has to be removed - and, at a Ford main dealership - for the cam belt to be changed. Imagine for a moment the cost! (about eight/nine hours of labour alone). That is, if bits of a decomposing cam belt have not blocked oil filters, etc. and seized the engine before that can even happen.

I have the 1.5 ecoblue diesel. I love the lane assist on the motorway and enjoy the engine in sport mode. Not got the claimed 80 mpg on a run though..Its got enough power for me..95 hp, but I imagine the 2.0 litre would be more fun across the country.

I have the same model and DID achieve 88 m.p.g. (according to trip computer) upon a long run on the M6. This was with the traction control set at 63 m.p.h. Great car!

@@stuarthall6631 Yes, I suppose driving at the recommended 56 mph is the route to the economy figures. I sold mine a few months ago to buy a Vauxhall Combo for my DJ business and I miss the Sync 3 system the most. Mind you, when you ask for locations often they are no longer there, despite running all the updates on wifi. Still a great, economical and smart looking car..

There is no 4-cylinder petrol in these anymore. All the petrols are 3-cylinders apart from the 2.3 ST. The 1-liter petrol still has a timing belt, the 1.5's went back to timing chains and they have no replacement interval

I have the st line 1.0 ecoboost 125 bhp mild hybrid and it’s a timing chain .

Have a titanium estate mk4 2021 it has a 1.0 ltr engine 125 bhp but is beautiful to drive and is really practical for my carp fishing and don’t underestimate that little 1.0ltr engine it’s great

The same here and I did give the engine to be reprogrammed and now is going like it supposed to with highest octane fuel (140hp)

@@ngacnido you have to run it on high octane or do you just loose power if you put the cheap stuff in?

@@ngacni interesting. I’m looking at 2019 st line x. I think it has the newer chain driven engine. If it’s the old wet belt I might pass.

@@miniaturefun-guy Very definitely pass on the wet belt version. The cam belt breaks up in the oil and engine seizures are not uncommon. If you survive this, a cam belt change can only be done at a Ford main dealer who will charge you eight/nine hours of labour. (image cost!). The whole engine has to come out for this to be done every 10K miles.

Unless it's a proper off roader suv, why not get a hatchback or a wagon? We've always been neglected in the US when it came to the focus. They were almost never the same as the euro markets car save for the first gen the most recent RS

Hi I have £10k to spend on a hatchback Focus. Can you advise between the 1.0 and the 1.5 petrols please? I only do 5k miles per year but don't want to buy the wrong car and I can't find a comparison vid. Thanks.
