Great choreography! A huge improvement from Golden Spin

Very elegant.

I wouldn't really call them elegant since she doesn't even skate upright, but it's a lovely program and I like it a lot better than I did at Golden Spin. I don't know if it was intentional or a coincidence, but there are places in the program where it's choreographed for her to have her chest down, which is usually how she skates anyway. Some of the GOE were absurd even in comparison to the teams in this watered down field. Their throws are smaller than just about every team, so any mistake, especially one that obvious, should make it automatic -GOE. But the order of finish was correct.

Why did China not enter any pairs? They had entries in all three other disciplines, even non-frontrunners.

Sui/Han and Peng/Jin were originally on the Entries list, but then withdrew to rest little injuries before the Olympics. I don’t know why they weren’t substituted, but given that China didn’t fill their third spot to begin with, they must not have been interested in sending anyone else. First time in the history of the event they didn’t send a pair, but clearly it wasn’t a priority this season.

To me, this music made them skate so SLOWWWWWWWW... They need conditioning BAD.

I think they have improved a lot this year. Not a perfect performance but so many beautiful elements and difficult transitions. They've come a long way and hopefully US Pairs skating is in the rise not only with Tarah and Danny but also Alexa and Chris.

I think they look very similar to before. But they are improved from any rough outings they have had the past few years. They used to really struggle in the short program every time I saw them, including this season at Golden Spin. Tarah's jumps were better here. But they don't have super strong elements, or pair skating quality, or athleticism, and she isn't very balletic despite all the warhorse ballets they skate to. The transition into the 3S throw is still cool even though they've been doing it for years, but I don't see it as that difficult because they don't follow it up with a strong throw, even though they did complete it. But this is probably the best choreographed program they've had.
