I live in the mainland China. When I was a kid, around 1970-1985, there were farriers almost in every village. At that time, people needed animals to help transport and grow crops. However, after around 1985, farriers are rare. I'm glad to see that this profession is not extinct and there're so many people who take interest in this job and keep the horses, cows, donkeys, etc. in good condition.
