Here is a "real world" review of my 2018 Beta 300RR. I've been riding bikes for over 30 years. I've raced some and done a lot of trail riding, this is my honest over-view of this bike and why it might be a good purchase for someone that is interested in it. Pretty much all 300 two strokes are great bikes! I really like this one and can't wait to put some more time on it.

Check out my Amazon link for some of the tools and other cool junk I use. I get a super small part of the sale, so small that I probably can't even buy a fast food hamburger from the sale, but I figure it's worth a shot. I update this page every once and a while, take a look!

My computer also broke on my 2018. My dealer immediately replaced it. The only other issue I have had with mine was I did not like the sensitive front brakes. Other than that I love my bike.

My dealer I guess didn't care about me. I've called 3 times and they still didn't have a computer for me, so whatever. It's not completely broke or anything since I've fixed it with epoxy. It would have been nice to get a new one, but mine is still okay. It took me a while to get use to the front brakes as well, LOTS of stopping power. You really have to take it easy! It's a great bike, I'm glad that I have it and it sounds like you are too! Thanks for watching!

I have the same Beta 300rr 2018, the problem is this bike it will make you think you are a better rider than what you really are and then you start to get cocky then into trouble, LOL . My speedo has done the same and it was a common thing, Beta should replace this for you. I have never had a bike that you don't need to do a thing to it, as in suspension, power or add on like the FMF, V-force reed cage, hand grips, springs. The seat to me is not to bad, my one has soft written under it on the backside, the bike handles very well. The Beta's in Australia are around $2000 cheaper than the KTM and even cheaper than the Husky. I have friends with KTM's and they all need the suspension done to make the ride more enjoyable?usable or exhaust done, or replacing the reed cage to a V-force4 or something needs to be done. Beta's statement (Ready for anything) is spot on.Thanks for shearing.

@ BrokenSkull; 100% spot on with everything that you said! When I went on my first serious ride I felt like a friggin' hero on this bike! Everything just comes together and works so well for it being stock! People really need to get out and give the bike a ride or just get one, they are honestly that good. A friend of mine who tried my Beta still went out to buy a new TPI 300 KTM. He wanted the standard kicker and liked that the KTM dealer was close by. I understand all that, but with how easy it is to get parts of the internet, I would never be too worried. Most people that ride have spare junk lying around for minor crashes or flat tubes, etc. Anything serious can be had in a few days I believe. But yeah, great bike and with the money that I saved I was able to purchase some REALLY nice riding gear. I hope to see more people on Betas in a few years great bike and thank you for sharing your thoughts sir!

Nice review, I've owned mine around 10 months and never had a problem. When I was riding in -10c in the winter the starter sometimes missed the first few times of trying but the battery never let me down and it was kept in an unheated garage down to -25c some days. Kick start not needed in my opinion.

That's great to hear and thank you for sharing! I keep mine in another building that is heated, but yeah, there are going to be times where you may ride in cold weather, so it's good to know that this baby will crank. I really like the bike, very well balanced and seems to be built well. I did have to go over nuts to make sure things were tight after a few hours, but you'll get that with any bike. Thanks again for watching, it means a lot!

Do you think the computer is programmed for that? I wonder if it knows that hours from the hour meter or whatever. I also remember the book saying to put some pre-mix in the tank for the first few rides as well. That's what I did for my 300RR.

What was your previous bike? I am going to the beta demo tomorrow (STOKED!!!), but I have narrowed my next bike down to either the Xtrainer, 250RR with fork swap, KTM 250XC with lowering and fork swap, Husky TX, or the KTM 250XC-F. Had to throw one four stroke in there to get you guys going LOL. I have really narrowed it down haven't I. Sooo many dirt bikes, so little time. #first world problems

I hate to admit it, but I ran a 1993 CR250R before, for a LONG time. I loved the way the frame felt and it had really good power. The 300RR is LIGHT YEARS better. Wait till you try one. You'll be amazed. I like how the frame feels, it reminds me of my CR and the suspension on the Beta is great out of the box. If you are even semi-serious about riding, I don't know if I'd even look at the XT. KTM's are nice too, my buddy just picked up a TPI 300 and really likes it so far. There are a lot of great bikes today, I don't think you could pick a bad one! Let me know what you end up doing!

You can get the Xtrainer expansion chamber for the RR series 2t bikes. The rr's can be tuned like the Xtrainer for way way less then putting Sachs suspension on the x trainer.

Don't know where you are but I bought and get anything I need for my 16' RR from Adventure Off-Road in Tennessee. That's nice, yeah, my dealer has been a bit of a let down. They never got back to me about my speedo, even though I called them a few times. I sort of gave up. Went to the Beta demo day and .... as suspected the 250rr was my fastest ride. two unsuspected findings were; I was almost as fast but more comfortable on the 390, and I did not like the Xtrainer. The Xtrainer is the perfect size for what I want to do, but the engine vibration was a deal breaker for me. The 350 was comfy but no dice, the 390 was far better for me which was really surprising. In fact the 430 and 390 were both great to me and I was very comfortable and quick on them. I also did not care for the 300RR in the tight single track, but it was stellar in the open. In summary, if I had to buy one today it would be the 250RR with ohlins inserts.

That is interesting to hear about the 250's
@A1soldiersaint
@A1soldiersaint 5 жыл бұрын
@@mxfreaks I can geek out over this LOL. If you look at the engine specs of the KTM or Beta 300, its what they call "square bore/stroke" meaning the bore diameter is the same as the length of the stroke. the 250's on the other hand, have the same stroke but with a smaller bore cylinder giving you what they used to call a "long stroke" where the length of the stroke is greater than the bore diameter. Different power characteristics. Almost all the four strokes went to an "over square" cylinder to stroke ratio, where the bore diameter is larger than the length of the stroke which makes for higher revving engines.

@@A1soldiersaint are the Ohlins inserts a factory option on the beta? I think I'm going with gasgas as I hear the KYB suspension is really good all around plus the motor is great from bottom to top.
@A1soldiersaint
@A1soldiersaint 5 жыл бұрын
@@mxfreaks they are an option and reasonably priced. Beta USA's suspension guy learned from "Bones" Bacon and worked at pro circuit, or so I heard. The Beta 300 and 250 have that kind of power, and can be easily turned into a fire-breather by adjusting the power valve screw. One thing I like about beta over KTM (besides better handling, and more useable power, is they feel slightly smaller and fit guys under 6 foot better.

Here is the issue I have with Beta and the lack of kick starter. They dropped the starter and kept the price the same. Then they want approx. $400 for one. And they bumped the price up another $500 for the next model year (2019). Getting close to the price of the KTM 300 tpi bike that has a kick starter. I personally have a had my new battery take a crap on me on the trail. I'm glad I had a kick starter vs trying to bump start it in the middle of the muddy woods. I'll stick with the KTM for now.

Sorry to hear about your battery. I have been pretty lucky with mine. No issues at all. When I get home I make sure to put it on the maintainer. Part of me misses not having the kicker, but the other half doesn't care. I'm sure I'd be singing a different tune if my battery went flat like yours did while on the trail. My one buddy REALLY liked my Beta when he took it for a spin, but the no kicker was a deal breaker for him, so he got a 2018 TPI. But yeah, trying to bump start in muddy conditions SUCKS!

If you get a chance to take one for a rip you should should do so and yes, that 300 will have so much more power than the 200 you are use to. BarnStangz I will say that Italians have their warning lights backwards. In the rest of the world when there’s a cautionary detail to address.. like being low on something... you get a yellow light. Red means immediate attention. But no, beta uses a red light for low level oil injection. The first time that light came on on a trail ride 20 miles from the trailer I was like shit I’m about to have a bad time. Turned out the reservoir was half empty... plenty for the day. I laughed it off.. wasn’t funny for a few minutes though lol. I also agree figment of panels could be better. I recently installed number plate graphics and it’s where I noticed the terrible gapping on the left side cover. Had to shift the graphics over to get the lines to match up. The OI will seep a little when the bike is off. This loads up the cylinder so at start up it’s almost choked up till it burns off. Check your plug regularly. Tool kit has all that you need. I’m 180 pounds and thought the stock springs were too soft for my local rocky terrain. The consensus is that Beta underrates their spring rates. I went two rates up on the fork springs and up one rate on the shock. Couldn’t be happier with the result. Change for oil every 6 months or so or at around 50 hours of use. Much after they start to diminish in my opinion. I’m just a trail rider with an occasional hare scramble and Enduro race here and there. This is my first true dirt bike coming from a dual sport background. Needless to say it was interesting in the beginning adjusting to that 300 hit 👍 To clean your bars up for accessories like a roll chart holder or whathaveyou you can relocate your map switch to the steering stem lock on the right side of the bike. Easily accessible. I still use mine. Ram Mounts makes a bolt that replaces the fuel tank bolt you see when you sit on the bike. Keeps phone below the bars and out of the way in the event of a crash.

biggest rear tire I've ever seen on a dirt bike. I know it's not a mx bike, but they could have made the number plate the slightest bit larger. I like oil injection

Yeah, I wasn't thrilled with the stock rear tire. I'm sure I'll put something better on it in the summer of '19. I like the oil injection too. It seems to me, that, people either love it or hate it. I find it really nice! Thanks for watching!

Thanks a lot Luke! I'm glad that you liked my video, I really appreciate the view! When I get even more time on the bike I'll post another video. Took it out yesterday for a little rip and it did well, just took a while to get started, likely from the cold weather here and sitting a while. Still a great bike, really enjoy it. Thanks again for watching.

I've heard this a few times. So far I've had no issues with the stock jetting, but I've only gone up to maybe 2000-3000 feet above sea level.

AKG 1; nice to see you on here. I would have to agree that TPI is still in the teething stages and causing problems. There are quite a few people with KTM's that had them go lean and blew the engines. I'd stick with a carb for a while. Easy to tune and reliable. Thanks for watching.

Where did you buyed that cycra handguards with beta colors ?
@BarnStangz
@BarnStangz 5 жыл бұрын
Hello; I got them from my Beta dealer. I honestly don't know if you can get them directly from Cycra or not, I'd suggest you take a look at Beta's web site. WELL, I just looked at the Beta USA web site and I only see the Enduro Engineering ones, I would suggest that you call your closest Beta dealer and see if they have the Pro Bend Cycra's. Thank you very much for watching, please subscribe if you like this sort of stuff. I'll have more off road videos at some point.

Thank you very much for watching! And I appreciate the sub, GREATLY! I actually took the Beta out today and it took a LONG time to start up since it was sitting for a while. I've noticed that with this bike. Good thing that it has am electric start. I bet it had to crank for a full 20 seconds, but it did start. I also make sure to plug the battery into a tender, that's a must to keep the battery fresh! I'll have to do a little review video on this bike, now that I've had it for a while.

I have not ridden any "newish" KTM's yet. A friend of mine just got a 2019 TPI KTM and I'll give it a good rip this summer. I honestly think you'll be more than happy with the Beta 300RR suspension unless you are an expert racer maybe? I'm sure you'll like the bike. I have also heard that some people with TPI KTM's have been experiencing issues? Have you been one of them? Thanks for watching and commenting sir!

I like your experienced opinion, thanks for the review. I've been riding moto and have had "steel framed CR's" and all kinds of CRF450's and CR's over the past 25 years, and am now thinking I'd like to do some off-road. I've got a friend with this bike that is possibly looking to sell it, so I'm considering it.? What has your opinion been on the build and parts quality? Being a Honda guy all my life, I'm a bit nervous about the on line issues people are mentioning with the Betas.....
@BarnStangz
@BarnStangz 5 жыл бұрын
Dude, I was feeling the EXACT same way you are right now. Is the fit and finish going to be up to par with Honda? Cause let's face it, Honda makes one, if not, the, best quality bikes out there, all the time. So here is the thing; the quality isn't as good as Honda. I'm not going to BS. BUT, it's very decent, VERY close to the other Japanese OEMs. My bike has been holding up very well and has not let me down. I also maintain my stuff, as I'm sure you do. The internet is FULL of horror stories, but very seldom do you hear all the good stuff. I am sure there will always be a few issues out there, but the majority of the people that own the 300RR LOVE IT! I would say, if your buds 300RR is in sweet shape and he took care of it, I'd go for it. OR, if you've got some cash laying around and can buy one of these new, do that. It'll give you a little piece of mind with the warranty. The only thing that I think about, is the oil injection, if/when that will fail, but I keep an eye on the injection line and I made sure to zip tie it to the manifold and keep that little tank full with the oil that Beta recommends and I haven't had an issue. I took the bike for a 8 mile ride the other day and while I know that isn't a lot, I didn't have a single issue. AND, this was after the bike had been sitting for at least 2 months. It did take a while to get going, cranked for at least 10 full seconds, but started and idled fine. I keep it on a battery maintainer and also use non-ethanol fuel. If you have any other questions, or want to run something past me, don't hesitate to ask my friend. Thanks for reading my wall of text, lol and good luck!
