The dealer seemed to be fast paced to get this one off the lot. This is a great vehicle that GM should advertise more. Why wife absolute loves it. I bought one, I've had it for a day. Its great. I have an Essence trim, for under $30k, I didn't look at much else other than the Subaru, which I felt was just too unattractive for me to want to drive. The leather seats are harder than they could be, true. The stop/start is annoying, although there is now a device which you can purchase to defeat it (with apparently some impact on remote start). The interior is gorgeous to look at, and the technology is honestly all you'd need. None of the reviews mention it, but at night, the metal trim on the dash has an invisible line of light, I don't know how, you can't see it in the daytime. But at night it illuminates and is very cool looking. The Essence package is a must, if you ask me, as the switches at the trunk to drop the seats alone is worthwhile, plus it includes the leather and a better infotainment screen. I did not get a sunroof, I have an Audi with a sunroom, and some leakage. I don't want to deal with that in 10 years. I did not get driver confidence package one or two. Don't know what I'm missing, so I guess I don't care. I did not get the "sights and sounds" package, so no Bose stereo. HOWEVER, the speakers still say Bose on them, and the sound is unbelievable. I am deeply suspicious, I wonder whether ALL of the cars have the Bose sound system. It would certainly make manufacturing easier. Then for an extra little bump in price, or a bargaining chip, the factory puts a "BOSE" logo in some cars. Dunno, just spit balling. If you, like me, are looking for a versatile vehicle that looks terrific, and can still haul the occasional something or other, while also going to the slopes (but not off road), put bikes on top, skies on top, etc., then I don't see that there's a better bang for your buck. Now if I had $100k plus for an E63s wagon....

Spencer - now that you've had your TourX for a while, can you provide an update? I'm seriously considering this car in Essence trim but was concerned about driver comfort on 5 hour+ road trips. You need the high end Essence model with as many packages and accessories as you can find. The basic car doesn't cut it, like many others out there. But the Tour X is in a class by itself. I think the interior criticism was a little harsh. Remember this car starts at $29,900 and comes with standard AWD and is huge compared to the other wagons. It also looks good. Put it this way, when you consider the fact that a BMW X1 or Audi Q3 can almost hit $50,000, paying $40,000 for a car this big is something to really consider. Especially since Buick is advertising taking 16% of the MSRP as we speak.

He bitches about privacy glass, which many sedans also don't offer that either, and thus forgetting that this is a wagon which is based on a sedan model. At lot of folks are saying that this doesn't compete with Subaru because it doesn't have offroad capabilities. There are tons of people who have no intention of going offroad but buy Subarus (specifically in the Northeast) because they know it's a reliable performer in snow. Some of those people can afford to buy more car than a Subaru, but don't want to pay for an Allroad, Sportwagen or V60. Maybe Buick wants to sneak off with that specific set of customers? I would not buy this new, but think it would be great as a preowned low mileage option. I may consider it in 2020 or 2021.

This car is great. I never knew it existed until I had an Uber ride in Europe and I instantly loved it. When I returned stateside I went for a test drive. Then I was shocked when I checked the price. Fully loaded price is around $40k+, which is insane. That's a price of an Acura RDX and so many other SUVs that are way above this Buick/Opel wagon. Interior on this car is very *entry* level luxury, so it should have been cheaper. That's why left-over 2018 models are now selling with $10k discounts. Now it is a great car for $30k fully loaded.

Good points...I bought a top-line TourX a few months ago loaded sans pano roof (didn't want that) at a freaking amazing price. I refuse to pay $40k+ for ANY new car, including the RDX (I traded an '07 RDX for my TourX), and I'm an Acura fan. I find TourX interior more than nice enough - and functional. I don't need it for high tea. I use mine for spirited driving, camping/hiking, road trips and hauling my bikes and dogs around. On that note, TourX has great dynamics, and is definitely road-trip comfortable + much quieter than my Acura. Great looks, too. Best of all, it's not a tall SUV and *those* complaints are what's silly. This is a car, people. Remember those?! I shopped Subies and tried to like them, but not for me...and you see them on every corner. Most of us drive on the road 100% of the time, and a *very* small percentage go "offroad" (read: somewhat unpaved road to trailhead parking lot that's easily navigable in cars) - a few times a year. I can tell you that my TourX will get me to the trailhead exactly as well as my AWD RDX did. TourX AWD is also great in deep snow (5-7" to date). Great job, GM - you hit this one out of the park. Now just get the msrp right and/or give it the marketing it deserves.

I also built an Outback with similar options. $39,064. I’d say this is right on the mark with equipment and interior materials. I just picked mine up with a MSRP of $40,500. I seen this at the L.A. auto show and it looked great and the fact that the rear seat does have ac vents is fine enough with me. As far as the windows....tint them lol...tint the windows now barely cost $100 if that and the manufacturer way of tinting a window in other brands is not dark enough to block the glare of the sun. Every car has hard plastic at any given place so it doesn't matter and why do people care if the dash is hard plastic or feels soft? Are you sitting on it? The car is in a class by itself, as long as you aren't looking for a more upscale luxury wagon, even with the packages and available accessories, which I mostly recommend. The BMW 3 series station wagon offers more but at about twice the price of the Tour X. I have found through experience that high end German cars have complex suspensions with potential maintenance issues which the Tour X is not prone to and still a near luxury German design. The Subaru Outback is more SUV and also more expensive to buy and to operate. Those are the 2 closest. Living down south, I opted out of the moon roof, too much heat potential, especially considering the glass on the side windows, as you have pointed out. The car is maybe a bit plain on the interior but extremely well thought out and functional, not to mention the comfortable and supportive seats, and not objectionably cheap looking, my opinion. Getting a bit up there, I chose the two driver assist packages, especially since this is my wife's car and we are a bit concerned about her driving. She wasn't crazy about any of the other cars we looked at but liked the near luxury look of this car and was blown away by the test drive. Best of all, there are absolutely incredible year end deals on these cars. I don't know why such a well made alternative to a sedan or SUV isn't selling better!

A lot bitching going on here. I had the pleasure of driving this car myself, fully loaded, and it was an amazing place to be. I have no problem at all with the interior materials. They were perfectly tasteful and what some people are calling hard plastics, I question your acumen. There were plenty of soft touch points, and I don’t know who spends their time sitting in their car feeling up their dash, door panels, or their center stack. LOL. My only complaint is about the cost for all of the extras to get yourself to a fully loaded model. I think that Buick is wrong to nickel and dime people for items that are standard on so many other cars. However, Lexus and BMW do the same kind of nickel and dime price packaging for the same tech and safety. I should know, I researched them. If they can do it, I guess why can’t Buick? In terms of this being an Opel, who cares? Doesn’t the company have the right to rebadge for other markets? Doesn’t Honda do this with Acura? Doesn’t Toyota do this with Lexus? Don’t many companies rebadge and it’s perfectly acceptable? In terms of what you get for the price, get an American Express card and then use their Auto Purchasing Program. On a $41,700 version of this car, my out the door price, if I choose to go through with it, is going to be $33,000 and change. If you ask me, that’s a hell of a deal for a very nice car that, in my opinion, is leaps and bounds ahead of Subaru and could be considered in the territory of an entry-level BMW or Audi.
@thatsanicepicture26 жыл бұрын
You're saying that the dealer is selling you a $41,700 TourX with no down or trade for 33K? That would be in the neighborhood of 7K under invoice. I assume you're not telling us about your trade in.
@socalguy976 жыл бұрын
Dale Smallwood, even better. I have no trade. I’m leasing my current vehicle. I went through (as I said earlier) the Amex Auto Purchasing Program. It’s the benefit of card membership. You do the search through them, they find a participating dealer, then they give you a receipt with a barcode with the final price that you take to the dealer. This is before a trade is even considered. The savings are close to 8500. I realize this isn’t an option that applies to everyone, but it apparently does for me as an Amex cardholder. I’d show the receipt if I had a way to post it.

The Buick is incredibly attractive but that’s it. Test drove one and while it felt like a genuine wagon, the powertrain wasn’t very refined, felt very rough, and the interior felt very cheap. Leather quality wasn’t very good either. And resale is absolutely horrible. I would take the Outback over this any day.

Norm T My friend, you quite literally can not believe anything MT says. Easily the most bias magazine published to date. With that being said, I would get the Regal Tour X over the Outback and AllRoad myself. For me the styling is right, the car is huge when compared to others in its class, and it’s affordable to own an maintain (two things that Subaru and Audi owners can’t say). Personally I don’t care how great the materials are in a car that my daughter is gonna kick on anyway. Buick could have made the entire interior plastic and I would have batted an eye. Easier to clean!

@thatsanicepicture26 жыл бұрын
Nope. Not a Outback person. Not rabid either. But I did get an extended drive in the TourX and it has no claim to off road capability. It is way to low... I wanted this car and hounded the local dealer to get it in ASAP. But it had to be what they were pushing it as... At least a crossover. They are the people (GM Marketing) that said it is a Outback competitor... I just isn't. AND it is expensive in the Essence trim and a few options that come included on cars with a lower price point. Great car in bad weather I'm sure. Don't go off road. Also if you would like a few of those nice options you have to get the Essence trim. It's the only way to get the driver confidence packages (there is two ) for a total of just short of $3K. However if it's a beauty contest the TourX has the outback and most (all?) other wagons beat. It is gorgeous . Really really pretty. BTW I have a 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee Limited and it was to far to jump down to with no price advantage and cheap interior. Outbacks are nice.

Blake Swan, Speaking from the perspective of an owner, you are wrong. I agree there would be concern if you were trying to judge the materials quality based on what you see in the videos here. However, I don’t find the materials to be bad at all and I think I’m a pretty good judge because I drive this car daily. No, they are not BMW quality. They are not even Lexus quality. But I would say that they are on par with what you find in the Audi which I did test drive and not far from the Volvo. They are also leaps and bounds ahead of the Subaru, which I didn’t test drive but I saw in person. Believe me, you are not driving a Malibu when you drive this car.
