The tag says that the empty weight of the trailer is 6,670 lbs, and that the GVWR of the trailer is 25,000 lbs. By subtracting the empty weight of the trailer from the GVWR, you can find out how much the trailer is able to safely carry so you don't overload it... Which in this case, turns out to be 18,330 lbs of payload.

On this trailer the rear bar folds under as the dove lowers down. So it would not be capable of handling that wieght on this model. Thanks for the question.

This is an old comment now, but I believe what he's trying to do is get away with being able to haul more without having to have a CDL or "hotshot permit" depending on his State's regulations. Two things here though, 1.) if you get stopped and they force you to weigh-in, you're still screwed because you're hauling more than the VIN tag states the trailer is rated for, and 2.) the manufacturer isn't going to illegally under rate the trailer for you (however, there may be a loophole here that will work in your favor)... I don't know if Diamond C does it, but Gatormade specifically makes "non cdl" or non-commercial use goosenecks that you can tell them to GVWR whatever you want, and because it isn't commercial they aren't breaking any law that I know of. However, if you get pulled over and forced to weigh in, and they find you overweight even if "not for hire", you're still going to be fined (or worse).
