A lot of people are saying the NDSU needs to be in FBS, and I do agree but I don't know if they want to spend the money to increase the scholarship quota, increase the stadium capacity (they're one the few teams that have a dome) some program are more successful than others, like App state, they're doin alright, but some other former FCS school aren't doing too good.

App. State was already top-dog at FCS and had the same coach going from FCS to FBS. It’s not that much of a leap since they transitioned well, and have won two conference titles and 3 Bowl games since joining in 2017, but you’re right that not all teams are great at changing, but I also think of App. State did it well NDSU could do it even better.

After they beat a ranked Iowa team in 2016 and Iowa State in 2014, no team in the FBS ( Power 5 nor Group of 5 ) wanted to have to play a game in which they can have their season ruined and wing count for much in the season.
