This is my truck. Easy for you guys to say you wouldnt have taken possession. I waited 70 days for it to be built. My 2017 Raptor was a buyback and I turned it in the day this 2018 arrived. Ford let me drive the 2017 until the 18 was received and that was a hell of a battle. Scott fixed the paint and all is well. I didnt pay over msrp either. If this was a Toyota Tacoma I would have rejected it also. But my situation is a little more complex. Scott got me back to good.

Michael J Barnett excellent point Mike! The paint needed just a little help and it was so worth it! I wouldn't turn down that truck and it was a privilege to work on it and meet your beautiful family. Enjoy the truck my friend, you worked hard for it and i honor that

Michael - hopefully the dealership was willing to help out (at least in part) with Scott's work. I waited more than 90 days for my 2015 Mustang and it had "issues" with a couple areas where the paint seemed to be hazy or marred. The dealer corrected to my satisfaction that day - I really didn't want to wait for another one but I cautioned my sales person that if it wasn't right I wouldn't be taking delivery. In the end the dealer wanted me to be happy and I wanted to take delivery - I've bought 2 more higher end Fords from them since then so it was worth it for them to work the situation....

Sort of a side note. Curious, why did your 2017 wind up being a buyback? I own an Expedition myself...

So I'm a fan of griots finishing sealant. You have me interested in the correcting cream my question is, when would you choose to use the correcting cream, fast correcting cream, perfecting cream, or finishing sealant. I ask because you mentioned in another video the correction cream doesn't need to be followed with a polish.

yes if you order the vehicle or if a car just got off the transport truck...you can always ask they don't touch it or even wash it for that matter..they will say yes..i do it all the time for myself plus for my clients

I didnt let the dealer touch my truck. No wash, no PDI. No sticker or tape removal. I dont think it had a hood film on it. I drove it home very dirty with tags and stickers all over it. Dealership destroy paint and body. Never let them touch your ordered ride. Never let them wash your car. Its all dirty sandy rags in most cases.

Scott have you ever used any of the 3m perfect it compounds? I use it at work and wanted to try something different. Bought the chemical guys v line of compound and honestly I think Its garbage. I've heard you talk a few times about the griots fast correcting cream. Is that what you use for a sort of all purpose 1 step? I like the 3m line but it's so expensive it's just not something I can spend my money own for my own work.

the camera would have had a really hard time showing the scratches before..it happens all the time and the human eye in certain light can only see the hairline scratches...thats why i said it wouldn't be worth filming the before..plus i make these videos for other reasons as well but i love having you guys along for the ride...thanks Tom:)...much love

Excellent work as always, Scott. I wouldn't have taken possession of the vehicle but that's just me. I would have either had Ford give me at least an extra $5k off or reorder the truck.
@scottbley9740
@scottbley9740 6 жыл бұрын
Go Trixie Go it doesn't work that way..you can't demand 5k from ford..my customer does have an invoice from me and perhaps he could try to get reimbursed for my service but for 4 hours of my time it wasn't an arm and leg..lol..all vehicles will have some form of surface defects and most individuals would never see them..my client had a critical eye and i totally understand that and appreciate that..every car i have purchased new with my critical eye always needed paint correction in my opinion but no dealerships would adjust the price for me:)..the scratches on the paint and trying to determine if it happened by them removing the protective film would have turned into a pissing match with the dealership, so either take the vehicle or turn it down..but what if next vehicle they gave you was the same?..you have to decide at some point to except the vehicle and just do a light polish and move on...i just had a customer buy a 350,000 Bentley and many surface defects on the paint when i looked at it but my client didn't see them until i pointed it out..guess what? ..the dealership can't bend for those like us with critical eyes that most of the buying public doesn't have:)..that's life

i always forget a lot of guys would have charged my client high dollar because it would have taken them 9 hours to do the truck...my client did call some other paint correction guys and they quoted him very high prices ....but thats because they lack experience and turn a 4 hour job into 9 hours...im always kind and understanding with my clients...plus he washed his truck before i got there and i was only focusing on the paint....this is ways i help my clients save money but i still honor myself and my experience:)

I checked the build date on my truck. Build week was Sept 4th. It was built on Sept 7th. Scott did paint correction on Sept 24th. So the truck was 17 days old. Built 17 days. Soft paint and clear. Here is the email from FoMoCo before it was built. Hi Michael - Good news! The scheduling team was able to pull it ahead and we now have a serialized order and estimated production week. VIN is 1FTFW1RG9JFA48349 and estimated production week is 9-4.

thanks for the info:)...its amazing they can build that truck so quickly when order is placed...and its cool you can follow the build online and that ford keeps you posted throughout the build...it truly is your truck and kind of special:)...i love the truck and the color is perfect...thanks for not getting a black one..lol..i would be seeing you once a year doing some kind of correction on a HUGE black truck plus with you going hunting in the woods:)

The owner should ask the dealership to pay (reimburse) for your work. When I've taken delivery of the last 3 Fords at my dealer they've had it all ready inside with enough light where something like that would show up. That's not to say Ford's paint is perfect (anything but) but anything like that would have been fairly obvious and I wouldn't have taken delivery unless it would be taken care of (in writing). Nice truck too BTW.

Scott Bley ...I'm short so probably twice as long but I'm a hobbyist and Scott is a pro. Washing a truck like that including scrubbing the tires and cleaning the wheels and cleaning out the wheel wells alone should take about an hour and a half two hours in my opinion but that's just me though.

I believe Scott has said in some other videos that he'll ask clients to have their car washed before he gets there, since his time is expensive and having him wash a car is kind of a waste of his time/efforts. He did also say that he was only requested to work on the paint, so he may not have had to wash or clean the ties/wheels, or maybe they were cleaned beforehand. if it didn't need serious decontamination, I could see 4 hours just working around the trucks paint, even with itty bitty 5" pads. Who knows, just trying to demystify his tricks for being a little speedster.
