You missed the mark on this one. If someone buys a Maverick because they just need a small bed for Lowe’s runs or taking junk to Goodwill that doesn’t make them stupid - they bought what they needed. I call them smart. You just disagree with them. Also, you suggest a Ram as an alternative for many trucks in your video. Rams are overpriced and have typical Stellantis quality problems. I owned a Ram 1500 for 7 years and it was nothing but trouble. Never again.

I agree. Unfortunately, like many reviewers, these two act like everyone that wants or needs a truck absolutely has to haul a 10,000 lb trailer with construction equipment on it, is picking up an entire Lowes full of lumber and when they’re done, they’re going to go rock climbing. I imagine very few pickup owners do any of that. There’s no reason to buy more truck than you need. The Maverick was soooo good in theory but because so many people wanted them because they were inexpensive unlike pretty much any other truck, dealers and Ford got greedy. Luckily those crazy dealer markups from the beginning have mostly gone away. Another truck that I like but most people don’t is the Silverado with the turbo 4. Like you, I just need something for Home Depot or Lowes runs or to bring home large boxes if I buy something in one. For me, the 4-cylinder Silverado is fine. Unfortunately, they can get up in price though. I also like the base W/T trucks, too. Those can still be had in the low 30s and still do what you need. $50, $60, $70k is ridiculous for a truck.

The Maverick FX4 is NOT designed to be a serious off-roader. If you want that, then spend 3-times as much and get 1/3 the mpg. ALL OTHER TRUCKS are 1-3 TIMES more than the Maverick, and ANY trim level. The Maverick, certainly not faultless, but what vehicle, let alone truck, is?).It was designed to to be the BEST BANG-FOR-THE-BUCK TRUCK you can buy, and it is - period. The XL, the least expensive IS DESIGNED for the money-conscious, that are NOT looking for, or need a 'monster' truck or any extra whistles and bells. In the Maverick, if you want more power, a few more options power, and decent offroad capabilities or snow abilities, then the XLT 2.0T, with FX4 option works well. Bottom line, the Maverick works great for those who don't want or need a gas-guzzling, full-size, $60-100k+ truck.

Why is lightning in this list. It isn’t for everyone but that doesn’t mean that it isn’t a superior truck for others. I have a buddy that’s a construction manager and here in Vancouver all he does is drive from site to site in rush hour traffic but needs a truck for work. He saved 14k in gas in just 6 months. He went from 25L/100km, 9.4 miles a gallon to $18 supercharge or $4 charge at home. He’s got 8 years of warranty on battery and motors. When he goes his boat he loses a lot of range but it’s technically free to drive. He loves his lightning and the reason he got it is because he saw how much I loved and saved my my Mach E

I agree. I'm not a tree hugger...I own a V8 Land Rover and gas cost about $400 a month that's a good about towards a new lighting payment, not to mention less repairs and maintenance. Just good old independent coils.

Every argument against an EV’s is the battery. Most of the information is outdated and wrong, the reliability is far greater and the cost is about half from even 2 years ago. An 8 year battery warranty is the industry standard, so that’s not a valid issue. So why do they constantly rant about EV’s… don’t know. After they spend time towing with their ICE truck they will be stressed and broke.

A big truck uses a lot of gas. Guessing you just plug it in every night and have 80% charge every day for cheap. Are truck buyers really towing like they say they are? Plenty of bed space and can haul full size sheets of plywood. No complaints!
@dafunkmonster
@dafunkmonster 3 ай бұрын
I don't understand the criticisms of the gladiator. Its longer wheelbase is a marginal disadvantage compared to the wrangler, but they have the exact same stock ride height as a wrangler. And way more storage space. You can seat the same number of people, plus haul stuff around. You don't want a full-width 8ft bed on an offroad truck, either. If you want a rock crawler brand new from the dealer, you have to go buy an AEV-outfitted wrangler or gladiator. They basically moved the goalposts on ground clearance. And also contradicted themselves on the bed length vs wheelbase. "The gladiator's wheelbase is too long" but also "it doesn't have a full size bed". Pick one. You can't have both. If you need a full size bed, then you don't need an offroad vehicle. You need a full size pickup.
@dafunkmonster

Also, they claim "they shrunk the grille". Lol no, they didn't. The grille is the same size. The headlights were made bigger - they went from 7" round to 9" round, hence the indentations on the outer grille openings. And the grille openings are bigger than on the JK.

And if you're going up a mountain? Good luck finding a recharging station once you get there!

How many people tow for long distances? I own one but don't tow. I use it for my business and serve my local area so range is not an issue. Also, I run tools at the work site so the on board power allows me to get rid of the noisy gas generator I hauled around. It costs me 1/6th of what a ICE vehicle cost to drive and the on board poer allows me to run tools for a fraction of the cost.The Lightning is not for someone that tows campers long distances or takes many long trips every year, but it works for the rest of us, Oh, and by the way, I no longer spend about 10 hours a year fueling up at a gas station. I purchased 2 2022 ford's, 2 2022 titans and 2 2022 ram 4x4s for my crew and am tired of all the work I've had to put in on my ford and rams compared to my titans. Constant transmission issues on both, burned out seals and rods in my ford and leaking rear differentials and suspension issues and constant electrical issues on the rams. I'm done with those and turning to the titan to move on. Other than regular maintenance and tires the Titan has held true. It's a shame that they don't sell as well as they should. I recommend them to everyone I know.

You lie about the Ford Maverick the hybrid ones are not reliable but the EcoBoost is there's been very few minor recall problems most of them are so small people fix it themself. And the reason you come to that 36,000 price today anyone with an eye sees the orange trim and the different Hood so we know that's a tremor package which are more of a top end package so that's one of their Mark more expensive options that you picked out there I have seen these in dealerships 4/22,000 to $25,000 depending on if you want the hybrid or the ego boost and what trim level

My everyday driver is 24 years old, it was $39,345.00 brand new in 2000. It's a fully loaded Suburban 1500 LS 5.3 LS/Vortec metallic indigo blue, Grey leather seats. Dual barn doors in the back. It has 364,980 miles on it and still running strong. I paid $800.00 for it from my neighbor. It's been on the road longer than any of this new junk will even last lol 😆

By my estimation, that Suburban has sucked up $75,000 in fuel since new. If a EV was availlable back then, electicity costs would have been about $12,000. THat would be a $63,000 savings.

I disagree with every point you made on the Gladiator. I own one, but I'm not biased. It was the best option when I ordered in 2021. I looked at and test drove them all. It had/has best in class towing and payload compared to the Ranger, Tacoma, Colorado/Canyon. I paid $49k for a Sport S soft top with max tow, tech and safety packages. Max Tow gives you the same wider axles, 4.10 gear ratio, HD suspension, oil/trans cooler and brakes that the Rubicon gets. 7650 lbs of towing with 1600 lbs of payload. Tows my 4000 lb bass boat like a dream. Not under powered. Gets good gas mileage. Very usable bed. I haul 2 full size dirt bikes in it, plus gear, no problem. Plus the tailgate sits lower than the others, makes loading much easier. And I'm not taking it seriously off road. There are people that do, heavily modified, but then it's not a truck anymore. That's what Wranglers and Bronco's are for. But it broke zero sweats getting through some pretty rough back roads, mud, small rocks, to get to riding spots in the NC mountains. Plus I can drop the top and take the doors off. Also not an option on the other offerings. It's been very reliable as well, almost 60k miles on it with zero problems.

To be fair the battery on most US BEVs is Duration: 8 years or 100,000 miles, whichever comes first. BEV pickups indeed suck if your towing large loads 100s of miles but there are many cases where these pickups are working. It did not help that dealers gouged customers when they were new. I can see used F150 lightings purchased for delivery work. $4 a day for 100 miles if charged overnight not peak No oil changing. No brake jobs.

So you think "people are stupid" for buying a Ridgeline? People don't buy a Ridgeline or a Maverick for there towing capabilities. You're way off base on the Honda with everything but the cost, they are expensive. However you're getting a beefed up Honda Pilot with all the same interior accoutrements, but in place of the 3rd row seating and hatch back you have the truck bed. The bed of the Ridgeline is actually one of its selling points with the two way tailgate and under the bed waterproof storage. And dare I say... It will absolutely outlast and be more trouble free any other "truck" you can buy. FYI; It has a 5K tow rating, not sure where you got 2K from.

Yes I think they were biased on that one. Even the one they showed was not really a base model as it had the $1500 hybrid option and spray in bedliner. If they ordered one without that, it'd be $23K barebones. You can buy spray in liner and DIY if needed or get it done cheaper outside the dealer. I've heard from Ford techs that they feel more expensive then they really are. The drivetrain in them has been out for years so most of the bugs are worked out. Seems like a decent vehicle.

Also nearly 300HP is hardly “underpowered”, especially with the 8 speed ZF transmission! As far as the turning radius goes, it has the best turning radius in a midsize truck, and can go down the same trails as a wrangler can with little to no difficulties. As far as the bed goes,,, you can fit two dirt bikes, or a quad In the bed of a Gladiator with the gate down. Look at the brochure if you don’t believe me. I’m keeping my Swiss Army knife Jeep.
