You missed the mark on this one. If someone buys a Maverick because they just need a small bed for Lowe’s runs or taking junk to Goodwill that doesn’t make them stupid - they bought what they needed. I call them smart. You just disagree with them. Also, you suggest a Ram as an alternative for many trucks in your video. Rams are overpriced and have typical Stellantis quality problems. I owned a Ram 1500 for 7 years and it was nothing but trouble. Never again.
@brian5o4 ай бұрын
I agree. Unfortunately, like many reviewers, these two act like everyone that wants or needs a truck absolutely has to haul a 10,000 lb trailer with construction equipment on it, is picking up an entire Lowes full of lumber and when they’re done, they’re going to go rock climbing. I imagine very few pickup owners do any of that. There’s no reason to buy more truck than you need. The Maverick was soooo good in theory but because so many people wanted them because they were inexpensive unlike pretty much any other truck, dealers and Ford got greedy. Luckily those crazy dealer markups from the beginning have mostly gone away. Another truck that I like but most people don’t is the Silverado with the turbo 4. Like you, I just need something for Home Depot or Lowes runs or to bring home large boxes if I buy something in one. For me, the 4-cylinder Silverado is fine. Unfortunately, they can get up in price though. I also like the base W/T trucks, too. Those can still be had in the low 30s and still do what you need. $50, $60, $70k is ridiculous for a truck.

So you think "people are stupid" for buying a Ridgeline? People don't buy a Ridgeline or a Maverick for there towing capabilities. You're way off base on the Honda with everything but the cost, they are expensive. However you're getting a beefed up Honda Pilot with all the same interior accoutrements, but in place of the 3rd row seating and hatch back you have the truck bed. The bed of the Ridgeline is actually one of its selling points with the two way tailgate and under the bed waterproof storage. And dare I say... It will absolutely outlast and be more trouble free any other "truck" you can buy. FYI; It has a 5K tow rating, not sure where you got 2K from.

Not going to lie I drive my wife ridgeline any chance I get lol. I drive a f150 and the ridgeline is the perfect go around town truck there is, and the ridgeline quality is amazing it makes my f150 look like a hobo built it.
@TedCutTheCheeseАй бұрын
I honestly think a maverick or Ridgeline suits most truck owners needs. It tows either 4k or 5k. That's enough for most boats, recreational vehicles, or flat deck trailers. Good on gas, enough ground clearance for when it snows which is really all the "off roading" most trucks see, especially new ones.
@sail4201Ай бұрын
Yeah, this video sucks alright. I have a 2017 Ridgeline and use it 5-6 days a week for my carpentry job. The secure storage in the bed is great. With a pair of ladders racks and a roof rack, I can easily carry 16 ft material. And I have two young kids who I bring to school 5 days a week so a comfortable ride and decent parking ability is more important to me than towing capacity. It’s the perfect vehicle for someone who wants a truck bed and decent towing capacity with an SUV experience

I have a Ford Maverick, and I've been completely satisfied with it. If you really want to tow more the 2k, don't get a Maverick. Get a midsized truck, like a Ridgeline, Frontier, Tacoma or Colorado, which can all tow far more than the Maverick. The Maverick is for anyone who wants a bed, and doesn't need to tow anything more than a small trailer 8' trailer. I'm always hauling 4'x8' sheets of plywood, lumber, appliances, etc in my Maverick, and it gets the job done just fine. I'd say most people who have big trucks, would get along just fine with a Maverick, and save ten of thousands of dollars in the process.

A big truck uses a lot of gas. Guessing you just plug it in every night and have 80% charge every day for cheap. Are truck buyers really towing like they say they are? Probably not, 95% of use is around town. With the Tesla supercharger network now available to fords it makes a lightning far more common sense choice.

The sticky brake issue only affects the Maverick hybrid models with regenerative brakes. The Ecoboost models get decent owner reviews. I disagree with any negative statements about the Maverick not being good for "truck stuff". The Maverick was specifically designed for an underserved section of the market. It's was never meant for "truck people" who want to do "truck stuff". The target market for the Maverick is as follows: Age 18-35. Urban dwellers. First-time truck buyers, women (not specifically mentioned by Ford, but it is implied by the design) and men of shorter heights, who can appreciate the accessibility of a smaller truck. Ford researched and found a hole in the market. They found a large demographic who wanted something that nobody was making, and Ford decided to make it for them. It was an absolute homerun and a lesson that will probably be taught in marketing classes and seminars someday. The Maverick is for people who basically want a daily driver economy car that will occasionally carry some larger stuff for gardening, DIY projects, and hauling smaller equipment, gear, and medium-sized payloads. I don't understand why people keep comparing the revival of the compact truck segment to full-size trucks. You can't even compare the new compact truck segment to the old compact trucks. Americans have let it be known in no uncertain terms that they simply despise single cab trucks, and they absolutely refuse to buy them. Americans would rather have a truck with a 2 foot long bed than give up even an inch of their precious cabin space. Americans want trucks while at the same time hating the essence of "real trucks" which means a small, useable cabin and a big bed. Like it or not, the Maverick checked off all the boxes that it's heavily researched target demographic wanted, and thats why they've been selling the sh*t out of them. Americans want them, period. The Toyota Stout and the Ram Rampage are coming next, so get used to it.

Most of the people I see driving around in full size trucks, rarely if ever take them off pavement, and frankly, off roading beats the shit out a vehicle. Unless you have money to throw away, you're probably better served getting a beater for that kind of thing. The Honda Ridgeline was the smoothest riding most comfortable driving truck I’ve ever owned, but the Ford Maverick is a better city truck than the Ridgeline with a better price. The Jeep Gladiator is a great off-road truck and the only convertible truck on the market. If you live somewhere with good weather it’s an amazing open air experience and a fun vehicle. The Gladiator is priced wrong and you will spend thousands on mods if you plan to really off-road, even if you do get the Rubicon. The comparison to the Ram 1500 doesn’t make sense unless you only buy a truck to tow and haul. Some Gladiator trim levels have lower tow and haul ratings than the Honda Ridgeline. The Ram 1500 and Jeep Gladiator are targeted at completely different use cases.

He went from 25L/100km, 9.4 miles a gallon to $18 supercharge or $4 charge at home. He’s got 8 years of warranty on battery and motors. Every argument against an EV’s is the battery. Most of the information is outdated and wrong, the reliability is far greater and the cost is about half from even 2 years ago. @dafunkmonster4 ай бұрын
I don't understand the criticisms of the gladiator. Its longer wheelbase is a marginal disadvantage compared to the wrangler, but they have the exact same stock ride height as a wrangler. And way more storage space. You can seat the same number of people, plus haul stuff around. You don't want a full-width 8ft bed on an offroad truck, either. If you want a rock crawler brand new from the dealer, you have to go buy an AEV-outfitted wrangler or gladiator. They basically moved the goalposts on ground clearance. And also contradicted themselves on the bed length vs wheelbase. "The gladiator's wheelbase is too long" but also "it doesn't have a full size bed". Pick one. You can't have both. If you need a full size bed, then you don't need an offroad vehicle. You need a full size pickup.
@dafunkmonster4 ай бұрын
Also, they claim "they shrunk the grille". Lol no, they didn't. The grille is the same size. The headlights were made bigger - they went from 7" round to 9" round, hence the indentations on the outer grille openings. And the grille openings are bigger than on the JK.

It looks homemade. I like the interior, the performance and the technology, except maybe for the steer by wire. I get that it's been used on planes forever, but those get inspected by trained technicians before every trip. Cars, not so much. People hit curbs and potholes and rodents chew wires. My 21 year old F150 with 240K miles has the odometer flicker on and off at time, and sometimes the AC takes a minute to kick on when you first drive it, and that's expected on an old vehicle. Can you imagine when a CT gets old and has a flicker on the BUS that controls the steering? No steering for a moment. Mercedes had some models with full brake by wire in the early 2000s and they were a disaster. I think Merc. didn't really have a fix so they just extended the warranty to 25 years or some ridiculous number and will put the same faulty part back in, assuming the car survived sudden loss of braking. I'd lease or buy one to play with for a few years, but it would be a toy and not a work truck. It's not really intended to be more than a status symbol. Of course, cars made now probably won't still be on the road in 20 years. They will be mechanically totaled by battery failure or gearbox failure that will exceed the value after depreciation. The only exception is if the aftermarket comes up with a solution, but so far they seem hesitant due to the liability of it all.

The Nissan Titan and the older Gen 1 & 2 Tundras are both solid.

I agree. I had a 2013 Titan that got totaled last year by a Cadillac that T-Boned me at 55 mph. It knocked me out and I was sore from the seat belts, but other than that I was not injured. The truck didn't have one single problem in 13 years. Not one.

I bought a new titan in 2004 LE king cab when they first came out mad loved it. However, in 2011, some clown coming toward me decided to make a left turn and it was totaled. . Luckily the clown had insurance . I bought a 2011 Titan and still have it. SL crew cab 4x4, They are great trucks.

I had a 19 GMC Sierra AT4 & it was pure garbage. I then got a 22 Frontier Pro4x & LOVED it; especially after my 3" Koni lift. Then I jumped up to a loaded 23 Titan Pro4x. The Titan is a horse. It may be seen as "dated," but it's fully functional & I didn't want the turbo nightmare that came with the newer Tundras. Plus, 10k off, 0% for 60 months & a 5 year 100k mile BUMPER to BUMPER warranty was a no brainer

I bought a 2019 4WD Titan SV after driving a 2001 Tundra for 18 years. The Tundra served me well, and after 5 years with the Titan, it is as good or better than the Tundra in every way. Pretty sure these Titan haters have never owned one.

@@jamesmyers9285 I have a 14' Grand Cherokee Summit with the Ecodiesel. Worst reliability of any car I've ever owned. It's a great driving vehicle, gets great mileage and gets tons of compliments, but that engine should never have been used with US fuel and emissions systems. Mine grenaded at 64k miles and my extended warranty has paid over $22k in repairs since warranty expired. I'm guessing FCA/Stellantis paid about that much during warranty too. It is too bad as I think they have been innovative with the high performance engines and cool tech in many of their vehicles, but the cost cutting, low bidder parts is ridiculous.

Just clicked over 300k miles on my 2008 Chevy Silverado. Has the 4.8 V8, which was rebuilt about 50k miles ago. Original cost about 22k in ‘08. It’s a little rough on the outside, but I look after it mechanically. Wish you could get something like this new now, versus the over-priced, unproven, and probably unreliable stuff available now. Thanks for the channel….one of my favs.

The Maverick FX4 is NOT designed to be a serious off-roader. If you want that, then spend 3-times as much and get 1/3 the mpg. ALL OTHER TRUCKS are 1-3 TIMES more than the Maverick, and ANY trim level. The Maverick, certainly not faultless, but what vehicle, let alone truck, is?).It was designed to to be the BEST BANG-FOR-THE-BUCK TRUCK you can buy, and it is - period. The XL, the least expensive IS DESIGNED for the money-conscious, that are NOT looking for, or need a 'monster' truck or any extra whistles and bells. In the Maverick, if you want more power, a few more options power, and decent offroad capabilities or snow abilities, then the XLT 2.0T, with FX4 option works well. Bottom line, the Maverick works great for those who don't want or need a gas-guzzling, full-size, $60-100k+ truck.

All I see are Vivian's where I live, no lightings. 3 EV Hummers. Lots of EV Cars on the road, we only have a population of 100,000 and surrounded by farms. I am looking at Motorcycles, they have come down in price. Charging is fast, 6 minutes and better range the gas powered bikes.

@@austingrrr5191 We're in a similar size city also with farms around. We got our first two chargers (that I'm aware of) this year. No one is ever there. What really bothers me the most about charging is that I've never seen nor heard of chargers at lodgings which pretty much eliminates overnight travel with an EV.
@austingrrr51914 ай бұрын
@joewoodchuck3824 I think more malls need to jump on charging stations too. We have superchargers at our mall, just 2, but the city has been putting them in at the big parks. For the past 5 years, all new homes have had to be built with charging already to go. The owner of my gym rides an EV Motorcycle and sells them too. I get to drool everyday when I go in. Infrastructure is behind in North America. Charly Boorman and Ewan McGregor did their last big ride from the tip of South American to Hollywood on Electric Harley Davidsons and Rivian Support trucks. The legacy of the trip was all the charging stations put on the Pan American Highway. It's coming, we are just behind Europe and other places.

So the most expensive PU that I've ever bought was a 2006 F250, fully loaded Lariat, which was over $70k. It was a really nice truck that was extremely powerful and would pass everything on the road except for filling stations and mechanics shops. To put it bluntly, it was hot trash. The two best PU trucks I've ever owned were my 1993 Toyota, which I bought brand new for less than $15k, and my 1993 Chevy C1500 that cost me about $2,500 cash money. They were both ridiculously reliable, got great mileage, and were reasonably powerful enough for anything that I needed to do with them. Having said all of that, I am convinced that NONE of the garbage these companies build now are worth anything near what they're asking for them. PERIOD. FULL STOP.
