I pull with a tundra also, I recommend a weight distribution hitch. Air bags will stop the squat but weight distribution hitch moves the load to the steer axle. If upgrading any of the solar/charge controller make sure it is lithium compatible, you may think lead acid will work but you will change your mind after dry camping a few times 😁.

Thanks for the tips Mike! I do use a weight distribution hitch and it does make a big difference. For the batteries - I went a different way. You should see what I did in an upcoming video 😉

It’s beautiful, MICHAEL. Congratulations. You’re gonna have some amazing adventures in it. I’m sure. How convenient to have that for the whole family. If I had the money, I would totally get myself a camper as well. Loving the tundra. Cheers, my friend.

Michael, take a look at the DiamondBack truck bed covers. They're fairly simple to mount (clamp into place as I recall) and are stout enough to park an ATV on top, leaving the interior of the bed for gear storage, secured, and weather protected. My cousin had one on his Silverado, and it was a very nice unit. Might want to have some 2x6x12" stashed in that basement storage to use as dunnage so your jacks have less need to travel, also a cordless drill with the correct socket is handy for working the jacks. Nice unit my friend.

I have been considering the Diamond back cover but I'm not sure if that will work for me. Check out the Razor top canopy - razortop.com - Let me know what you think 👍

I have an ORV TRX24 toy hauler. Awesome for a base camp to hunt from etc. Get a brass-head macerator. Then you can prolong your stay in camp past the limits of your grey and black tanks. Have spent a month in moose camp; central BC

Ohh nice unit!! With my old trailer, I took it hunting a few times and just camped dry - We setup an outhouse and used bottled water for washing etc - Seemed to work well - Thanks for the tip!! 👍

Michael, Love the truck and the trailer, yes I think you will enjoy both, although I think ultimately you will want more adventures than what the trailer will offer unless you do use it as a base and continue from there…looking forward to what you put out on your videos..

Ben - you got that right - its just a base camp but will open the door to lots more locations and I'll be able to stay for much longer 👍

That's a pretty sweet setup Michael. If you get air bags watch out for condensation. Here on the east coast the neighbours 100k ram decided to freeze up this winter and cost a bit too fix. Spring specialty add extra leafs.

Good to know!! I'll have to fill them on a dry day - I've seen air systems freeze lots in Canada and it can be a real pain in the A! 👍

I have the 2016 year model. I would suggest that you check all the nuts that hold the body to the chassis. I found that all of mine were either loose or missing. How I found was I went to exit the trailer and right side of the step collapsed, I found that the bolts that attached the steps were missing. That prompted me to check the rest of securing nuts and found them all loose with 2 more missing. This trailer only has around 13,000 towed miles. Just a heads up. Safe travels

I did the same thing as I saw something on an RV channel that recommend putting 2 nuts on the mount points. Half were loose also! 😬

My incident happened in Parker Az. I had stopped at the Walmart for the night. The next morning I purchased red thread locker, but I still check them every trip. Stay safe

Get a battery isolation switch right away. Or disconnect the batts or the parasitic loads will drain the batts and ruin them. Do not ask how I know this…😂
@TheEmporiumOutdoors
@TheEmporiumOutdoors 4 ай бұрын
Hahaha - I have the switch already and I'm planning on moving some of the wiring as it's a little janky the way they ran it under the trailer!! When I have the solar installed on top, having isolation will be very important for servicing etc 👍
