Michael, interesting that you bought the “submersible” lights package. Is this a foretelling of the places you might be subjecting the trailer to in the future? Good to see Esme supervising your work. Has she got the sufficient electrical trade qualification ticket to give her paw of approval?

Hey Michael--love your Jeep Overlanding set-up. I have the same set-up that I am installing on my 2003 Jeep TJ Rubicon. I already have the reinforced Highlander hardtop thru Bulldawg Mfg. This is a new overlanding hardtop that requires no metal reinforcement brackets or exoskeleton to hold all the weight. I also purchased the Rhino rack with quick release mounts, & batwing 270 awning. Just got the hardtop installed last week and will be assembling and mounting the rhino rack and awning in the coming weeks. iKamper 3.0 mini will follow by end of year when I get some money. My question (brought up by another member with the same set-up on his JL). Did you flip the awning mount brackets to hang the awning lower than the tent so as to avoid the awning from preventing the tent to open fully. The JL owner had to do that and move it outward a little more to be able to center the iKamper on his rhino rack. Let me know how you mounted your set-up and any other things you had to consider--thanks, David
@TheEmporiumOutdoors11 күн бұрын
Thanks David!! Sounds like you will have an awesome setup!! No the awning mounting brackets do not interfere with the iKamper when open. It's close but there is space. I think I show this in the install video 👍

This is amusing to me, no disrespect intended. But this is a case of being spoiled by too many options. I have been a blue collar working man for over 20 years. I've never owned a Leatherman until now. I've never needed one. If you are being "driven mad" by a multi-tool's philps driver not being centered, then you are missing the point of these tools. They are meant for being used in a pinch (ie. They do many jobs, but do them poorly). That's the nature of the beast. The Signal is an excellent tool for the outdoorsman that already has all these tools and knows how to use them. Especially the ferro rod, you need to he proficient at their use before thinking the little ferro rod on the tool itself is going to save your ass one day. The hammer is excellent for tenderizing a grouse breast or another cut of meat. The serrations (something I entirely avoid on all my knives) is actually useful on this tool for cutting off fish heads, cutting through cordage or rope, perhaps an emergency seat belt removal. I honestly can't think of a better set up for its intended use: A woodsmans backup with a set of pliers. Just knowing I'll always have a ferro rod attached to me is huge. Highky unlikely I'd be caught without a lighter and/or a proper ferro rod. However it is an added piece of mind. As a fellow British Columbian, my only gripe is it doesn't come with a Robertson bit. That would be the only change I'd make as i come across that screw head far more often than Philips. Anyway, in short, I think you just chose the wrong tool for you and that there isn't a dang thing wrong with the Signal.
@TheEmporiumOutdoors15 күн бұрын
I kinda agree with you, there is too much choice and I am spoiled for gear, but the point of the channel is to share what I find while using the gear I purchase. You can buy the bit kit with the Robertson bit with different sizes from Leatherman. I still think the Signal could be improved - Lets see if the Mk2 version has any of my gripes removed 😄 Kind wishes from Alberta! 🇨🇦
@TheSimplecanadian9 күн бұрын
I agree I wish all the Canadian Leatherman's came with a #2 Philips and #2 Robertson combo bit. Almost all if not all the leatherman have a dedicated flat screwdriver/pry tool already no need to waste the other end of the combo bit with another flat

I keep all my black tank hoses, etc in a tote on that rack, freeing up storage space under the bed,. I also moved my spare tires to sit behind the propane tanks. So much you can do with a toy hauler. Starlink...I attached a flagpole to that tray to mount the starlink to as well.
