I have the original 2002 Honda Hornet CB900F (with power commander on and upgraded suspension), this would be a lovely upgrade from that oldie :D

Where's episode 3? The scratches on the tank are a major concern and honestly enough to make me change my mind about purchasing this bike. Has Honda responded? I wonder if the 2019 model and/or red paint are any better.
@wevsky5 жыл бұрын
honda responded to a long ongoing complaint about my tank after i had it replaced under warranty,not just for the paint though,its due to waterbased paints which are more environmentally friendly they are now using

NICE Bike indeed! How tall are you and you can flat foot when you sit on it? Thanks

I think the SP exhaust shown will cheapen the look of the bike, i have seen lots of bikes for sale recently like the Ducati Diavel and the 2016 Speed triple R with Deklevic end cans on them, they look bloody awful. I was toying with both those bikes mentioned but now the CB1000r has swayed me somewhat, looks amazing and the sort of bike i want to be riding in 2019 and onwards.

cheers from germany, i also own the glossy black + version of this bike and i can cofirm the problem with the paint. The surface is very sensitive to scraches. I found every couple of days new once, even though i am handling the whole bike very protective, leaving my self asking every time how could that happen again...I'm curious how you will proceed.

After having seat and tank replaced in may i finally got an answer from Honda about the paint issue,well as much of an answer as i reckon i will get "I have also investigated your complaint regarding the finish of the paint quality with my paint specialist from the warranty team. I can advise that, whilst we always endeavour to maintain an adequate finish and quality, In the modern painting process we now use water-based paint adhesives. Water based adhesives are a softer finish then the older paints, and so do requires extra care and attention. This process was changed as the new process is much more environmentally friendly. As a responsible manufacturer we are proud of the changes we can make for the betterment of everyone. "

Three days after my bike came out of the showroom I shined a touch across the tank and it was full of scratches. I cut them all out with a soft cutting compound. After the first wash and wax it was full of scratches/swirls again

get onto your honda dealer,also check the welds on the tank for rust,under the shroud by the ignition and on the welds at the front of the tank under the seat,mine is being replaced by honda

Polish the tank to get the scratches out, then put a ceramic sealant on it.

Have the CB100R+ myself, like it a lot but that tank scratches if you sneeze on it - if anyone knows of a protective film for it would be excellent

It’s called PPF. Shouldn’t cost much to wrap a tank maybe 200-300 dollars.. ppf is a clear very protective film...

check the welds on the tank under where the tank meets the front seat and the welds on tank under the plastic areas by ignition,if you have rust get a warrent claim in,mine or being replaced

Love the Looks, the riding Position and now the Sound of my CB1000R+ changed the can to a Shark DSX-7 (without muffler) :) But there are a couple of Things that are anoying, at least for me... 1. The Suspension can´t really find a real good high/low Speed Setup for me 181cm and 78KG 2. Quickshifter does sometimes shift from 1. gear into neutral - I have no Idea why, cuz it happens when accelerating slow and fast... 3. and this is the worst, Motor mapping sux i want the power to be linear and not having no power at About 5000 RPM and then beeing kicked in the back at 6000 Hope you will be going to JHS for These (my) issues Love ya Blogs cheers M8
@fastbikes6 жыл бұрын
Thank you! Martin will be having a look at the suspension soon we thinks, nobody has had any gearbox/neutral issues yet, but then we have had a lot with the new Fireblade on track, maybe it's somehow related. You're also right about the kick in the pants at 6k, but then it does give it a little extra in the excitement dept at the same time, makes monos a little easier at any rate! ;-)
@amckeeuk6 жыл бұрын
Same with the quickshifter, really smooth but sometimes neutrals especially 1 to 2 although that is a problem for most bikes so I use the clutch for that one
@midlifebiker74246 жыл бұрын
@@amckeeuk Agreed, 1st to 2nd is clunky on both tuono and s1000r so tend to clutch those. The bazzaz qs was really good though on my zx10r as an aftermarket.

7:51 " i wanna get protective film on it". Dude,, if the tank paint is to fragile,, ,you dont put protective film on, you give more layers of clear coat. Also more nonsense about "honda can do it, but not allowed" just nonsense.
@martint27496 жыл бұрын
Good to know about the paint but due to some limitations on what we can do with these bikes adding layers of clear coat isn't allowed.

i agree, Honda is a Japanese company so I understand euro 4 for exhaust/engines etc, but paint?
@MsDenver23 жыл бұрын
Why do modern day riders always change the exhaust , I would hate making louder , there’s nothing wrong with the standard exhaust , it works with the motor the way Honda designed it.
@penc5use36 жыл бұрын
1. Love your reviews. Great one again. 2. You must have been talking about REACH Compliance (echa.europa.eu/substances-restricted-under-reach). There are few chems restricted. I don't think that means shipping a product with one layer less. There must be something else going on with your tank's paint. 3. Having the ball of the hand on the edge of handlebar might be user pref but might also indicate the excessive breadth of your shoulders mate. 4. Cheers!

It's still a Honda at the end of the day.... What is that supposed to mean?!

Because Honda will always be 'Honda', they don't tend to play the same tune as others, only their own, and there's nothing wrong with that per se.

99% of the people reviewing the CB1000R (including the guy ambling around the track with the "first-timers" in this video) don't possess the skills to even come close to pushing the motorcycle to its limits.

There are, you're right, but then it just being a Honda is enough for many, regardless of other being better or worse at one thing or another, thinking about it. But if you're a sports nut, there are far better, true.

@alwynmcmath5 жыл бұрын
Well, that's true but sometimes there's middle ground. I want a fast bike but it doesn't have to be S1000 fast. I want a bike to look a bit retro but it doesn't have to be a bonneville. I think it's a cool and interesting bike. It's also good fun to ride, although most reviews from faster guys immediately point out the soft rear shock as lacking in the setup. An easy fix anyway.
@victoriawilliams65945 жыл бұрын
It's a wonderful looking machine and it's fast .it always surprise me how many professional riders there are on here that need so much break horse power when in reality there is only a handful of people that can actually use it.
