Good video! When I do these, I remove the coil pack bolt first and pull the coil up about 2" and THEN unplug the coil pack. Makes it easier to get a good pinch 'n wiggle on the plug and then a 6-in extension with a wobble tip works well for the plugs. When reinstalling you do it the same way for visibility like you stated.

You're right; there are not many videos of replacing spark plugs on this engine. I'm going to change my 2019 Honda Pilot's spark plugs tomorrow. I guess I need to buy another small extension. Appreciate the video

For those with this generation Odyssey and other models, Honda released a recall on the engine with notifications going out in January.

Thank You for making this video! You’re right, there are no other videos on the 2018 odyssey. What was the mileage when you changed them?
@Hopethisworkssteve Жыл бұрын
I don’t recall, my wife and I bought it used. It has roughly 60-80k on the clock and it was more or less a feel good measure to get them replaced. I’m sure it’s in the maintenance manual.

Thanks for the tips brother, why didn’t you just use the ratchet for the back spark plugs??
@Hopethisworkssteve Жыл бұрын
You’re welcome. Yah know, I’m not a 100% sure why I didn’t lol. I can’t seem to remember, possibly to control or limit myself to not over torque the plugs. I certainly could’ve gone back over the plugs with a torque wrench to Honda’s desired spec but in my years of changing plugs, I’ve never had an issue with the T handle (knock on wood)

Could you link me to the extensions and such you need for the back spark plugs?
@Hopethisworkssteve Жыл бұрын
Sorry for the delayed response, I’ll measure my extensions and update a detailed list of tools used in a day or so. All tools used can be easily found and purchased from a local auto parts store or home improvement store.
