It really hurts watching an i9 at 1Ghz.
@motoryzen
@motoryzen 5 жыл бұрын
Yeah..Crapple CLEARLY didn't think this through. Even a damn i7 would experience thermal throttling issues when doing ANYTHING video/content creation/editing work that is cpu intensive in their crap books. Only with any of the core i5 lineup would a crapbook user would be able to take enough or full advantage of those cpus' overall power. But the only real reason to get a crapbook is content creation/editing...which means you don't want a weak cpu. You want the most ghz and the most core that the program in use ( Final Cut Pro X 99% of the time) can actually max out/make full use of. But no professional content creator uses an i3 or i5 for that. They're using i7's and beyond. But remember, there are always plenty of idiots, like justine, who will just blindly " goofy mentality style" support crapple no matter what. There is no awakening of common sense within these sheeple. It's pathetic.

@ 10:50 you kept the Macbook pro 2018 and the 2016 in the refrigerator and kept the door open. In modern refrigerators there are sensors that shut down fridge cooling when you keep the doors open (you kept the doors open) while testing so the fridge stopped cooling and that's why the CPU temperature in Macbook were same as the room temperature and that's was also the reason the exporting time was same. And DAVE2D kept the macbook in the freezer not in normal compartment .u should keep the macbook in freezer not in cooling compartment.

Clearly she had not shown intent to actually test the performance, she is just showing off her new 7k USD device to her fans. Heat problems with the 2018 MacBook Pro have been confirmed, there is no way she would admit she basically wasted all that money, specially being the apple fan girl she is. And nobody comes to her channel to watch actual technical opinion or comparisons, just look at the other comments in this video or others of her.

The iMac Pro doesn't have quicksync, it's a Xeon, which is why the Macbook Pros could export faster. Not a comparison of the CPU or storage or anything, the macbooks are faster because they have dedicated encode.

@kruppin 5 жыл бұрын
Yeah, exactly. Both mbp used quicksync, but because the 2018 uses 8th gen it's faster than 6th gen 2016. In that test there wouldn't probably be any difference between i7 and i9 from same year.

The comparison of SSD speeds did miss some very important information. Apart, from larger SSDs just being faster (cause thats how NAND flash works), comparing M.2 NVME SSD to an USB is like comparing SSD and HDD. Not that I wanna hate on this, Justine was going for different conclusion, but people might miss this crucial bit when comparing the performance Edit: as ELZamo92 correctly pointed out, SSDs in iMac (maybe macbook 2018 too) are actually two physical SSDs in RAID0, further impacting the measured performance
@ElZamo92
@ElZamo92 5 жыл бұрын
Filip Antončík you also forgot to mention that the “4TB” ssds in the iMac Pro and new MacBook Pro are actually two 2TB SSD in RAID0.

I don't really care for apple products, so I honestly have no idea about macbook, since a quick google search did not yield any results, but you are definitely right about imac, which I have seen in Linus's video on it. Good catch :) +1

WEVA111, I agree with the fact that she does not know tech... but how does that make her a bimbo? she acts like most consumers, which as a software developer is expect because it is my job to know the tech so that people do not have to... and she is far richer than me even if she does not understand any tech what-so-ever.

Jaleel siddiqui, fair, guess I have seen so much manipulation around such things that I have become numb to it. like best buy or any other store. I do feel like she is manipulating herself in the process too, like +bobhumplick (that name tho, sweet) pointed out fridge door was left open for way too long ( will also like to point out that, based on my understanding, given the kind of fridge she is using, those compartments will just trap hot air trying to escape the system, surprised results weren't worse). Also lack of knowledge on quicksync etc. She has no idea about tech but she knows how to make videos that entertain mass audiences. As far as Dave2D goes, I did watch his video. I have seen a few other videos of his (side-note this is my 3rd or 4th iJustine video), but he does not make the kind of content I would enjoy, I mostly watch YT vids for entertainment and overviews, I always look for proper detailed articles (ars, anandtech etc) when making decisions, videos lack info. As far as gs65 goes, it is a good machine. My intense hatred for windows (only use it for gaming) stops me from going for any of those machines, preferable non-apple machines will be dell XPS or razer Blade because of better driver support for Linux, but it is a while off... recently got as couple of new machines. I now have 7 computers at this point lol (collected over time, starting 2012, 3 apple, 2 linux, one chromeOS, one windows for gaming). I gotta tolerate apple hardware and prices for that gradually degrading but still on an average better than other OS of theirs. I know this is a very long (and full of unnecessary info) response to your question but whatever. PS: if you want to see even more manipulation look at macrumors, they know tech but are solid fanboys. They do have a well organized collection of summary form info whenever I want to know about an apple product.. so there is that, just carry a bucket of salt around the internet you are gonna have to take a few pinches every couple of mins.

WEVA111; Throttling due to heat has been going on with computing for over a decade. 2. Putting a computer in a freezer does not = tech knowledge. 3. What Justine did do was a render file comparison between 3 Macs & the i9 MacBook Pro came in first. That’s useful information for people who are considering a purchase. Of course for people who just hate Apple, useful knowledge is not going to matter.

2:20 2016 rMBP 15 SSD speeds seem low? The 2018 is faster but mainly on writes, the 2016 should have been capable of over 2GB/s reads and writes. Maybe it was too full?
@smbu
@smbu 5 жыл бұрын
That probably is the case. The 512GB drive on my late 2016 15" MBP is about 60% full and I am getting just under 1800 R/W speeds. Checking one of my old screenshots from when the drive had less data on it, I was getting 2000 Write and 2400 Read. I was surprised to see the slower speeds from the larger 2TB version as that one should be equal or faster than the drive in mine.

Im not all that familiar with Mac utilities to measure frequencies and such, but under the frequency section it had two numbers: IA - 2.00 and GT: 1.17ghz. The fridge test failed because you kept the fridge door open most of the time and all the cold air went out so the fridge wasn't cold enough to cool down the internal components of both Macbooks. I recommend trying this with an empty freezer which has been running for almost 24 hours or until the compressor stops I guess.

I am a web developer and my MacBook is connected to the external monitor Dell U3818DW which makes this mac overheating even in a simple task. I know there are more powerfull options on the market but I like this design and the silence and I don't need more gfx power. Does't this 'BMagic' do the job - makes mac cold by turning off internal Radeon 5500 every time I connect Dell to BM and then plug it in to the mac?

Fahrenheit is actually the superior measurement of heat. It is far more precise, and it has more useful applications because Celsius is only really good for measuring water temperature. Though kelvin is clearly the best, Fahrenheit is better than Celsius.

To be fair, using Fahrenheit instead of Celsius isn’t any better or worse, in contrast to not using the metric system for the other types of measurements.

This video looks so much better than the previous videos I've watched on your channel. If I didn't know any better, I'd think you were shooting this on a new camera. Also, it's so cool to see you branching out and doing speed tests as it's not usually the typical way you shoot your content. The gaming rage was quite hilarious in this video. Thanks for the great content and comedy you provide. I always get a laugh from your videos.

Lord Chanka the Matebook, haha nice piece of Chinese crap copied straight from Apple. Would love to see your HD benchmarks and Final Cut Pro times. Oh wait, it doesn't run FCP.
@ncramz1662
@ncramz1662 5 жыл бұрын
Bullshit Hunter final cut is shit anyways I use premiere like most editors. At least I have a 3k display and can actually touch my damn screen. Also my keyboard isn't regarded as the worst of any modern keyboard like a Mac's is. Have fun replacing your entire laptop when you spill a drop of water on the w key because the power button and keyboard are on the same circuit. Have fun paying 4k for a laptop worth 1.5k at most. Have fun purchasing a dongle to plug in a USB a port. Have fun upgrading it with everything soldered onto the board. And fyi your fancy apple product is made in China too dipshit. Apple is just located in the U.S. but almost all laptops are made in China. As for benchmarks, it kicks the 13 inch's (same size as matebook's body) ass. I7, 16 gigs, 512 gig ssd, mx150 GPU, etc for half the price of a mac with an i5
