Worth mentioning that according to Apple, when Siri asks to reach out to ChatGTP, it is doing so privately, without sharing information beyond the request and ChatGTP does not retain a history of the request and is not using the information to train models. Feels like an important detail to skip over.

Just like chatGPT bosses respected the alignment&safety team who tried to fire a certain guy at the top who was violating AI safety to the point that they ended up having to resign one by one, but that guy at the top still remains, and still misbehaves? Apple Intelligence is designed to be able to orchestrate (orchestrate being a keyword) hundreds of actions for you, so you can accomplish more while saving time. Two Examples: 1. A friend texts you his new address. Right from the Messages thread, you can say, “Add this address to his contact card,” and Siri will take care of it. You do not need to open Contacts app, search your friend name, click edit, copy paste the new address from Message app. All done automatically in the background in second. 2. “Show me my photos of Stacey in New York wearing her pink coat,” and Siri will bring those right up. Then you might say, “Make this photo pop,” and Siri will enhance it, just like that. You do not need to open Photo app to do search yourself from thousands of Stacey photos, you do not need to edit it in the apps to make the color stands out. They are processed in the background using multiple apps and give you a result in second.

This is exactly right. But so many people just don’t want to take the time to understand this. They just gloss over these details and make generalized comments about how the new photo features or Apple Intelligence “suck” without any context. And this repeats itself for anything new from Apple. It’s a “react first/think later” approach that seems to be a trend. I think Apple’s version of AI is going to be a great asset.

@@Ben21756 most AI features are there in Samsung’s 2022/2023 phones as well as their newer phones. Similarly even pixel A series has AI features. apple is the only exception. Think I should move out of Apple ecosystem for good.
@Ben217566 ай бұрын
@@AdhiNarayananYR Well, there are differences. Apple tries to do everything on-device, leaving only complex AI tasks to the cloud and ChatGPT. Others like Google and Samsung typically lean more on Cloud based solutions, which is why atleast for Samsung, you will eventually have to pay for their AI. Apple taking this approach obviously was the reason why they drastically upgraded the neural engine on the A17 Pro, and previous generation chips may not be fast enough to handle the load. If you’re fine with having to pay for AI in the future and is ok with the additional latency of cloud AI, go ahead and switch.

Apple should learn from Nokia's past missteps, where overconfidence led to significant market share losses. By prioritizing exclusivity over user loyalty, Apple risks repeating history and driving away its dedicated customer base. Apple seems aware of that they are behind the AI integration across its products, to be a rushed introduction of generative AI looks like a panic move?. Naming its AI function "Apple Intelligence" and adopting the slogan "AI for the rest of us" may seem clever, but restricting AI features exclusively to the iPhone 15 series contradicts this inclusive message. This selective approach is seen as unfair and disloyal to the majority of iPhone users who are left without access to these advancements. Moreover, Apple's new "personal intelligence" tool looks like not groundbreaking compared to competitors where more sophisticated AI offerings. The decision to limit AI features raises serious questions about Apple's strategy and the rationale behind this exclusivity. It risks alienating loyal Apple users who may feel neglected and prompt them to consider competing brands that offer more inclusive and advanced AI solutions.

This has always been the case. In the past the iPhone line-up has largely had continuity over the entire line-up but pro models have always had stronger hardware and features that weren’t available to the base and plus models. The only other option for them would be to nerf the feature for everyone, wait and do the exact same thing except a year later after they release the iPhone 16, or someone add better hardware to existing phones. When I was a kid I didn’t realize that hardware really existed. I thought that since my iPod touch could play a KZbin video of GTA IV that my iPod should be able to play the game as well, or I thought that Rockstar was going to have GTA IV on the PS2… stupid stuff like that. And that’s how people are acting. “Why can’t we have AI on device for the base iPhone 15!?” Well, because it literally can’t. It doesn’t have the available hardware. If you want all the features, buy the higher end or new device. If you don’t then don’t…

The advancements in Apple's AI demonstrate a significant step forward in user experience and device integration, but the exclusivity to high-end devices may alienate a portion of their user base.

Apple's latest silicon isn't that much faster than 3-year-old silicon. Maybe 30-50% faster. It shouldn't preclude older iPhone models from running Apple Intelligence. I find Apple's hardware requirements rather specious.

It's not a matter of "they couldn't allow it" it's a matter of "how well it would perform". apple likes having a smooth nearly seamless experience, if that gets bogged down to levels they deem unacceptable then they aren't giving it to the lesser hardware. It would hurt their image.
