Update: Today is April 27th so it's been over three months. I've been monitoring oil consumption and it seems that this update DID cure the issue! The engine now shows oil level in the "safe" range throughout an entire oil change cycle! Awesome!

Im a Jeep Compass Owner sucker too...My wife has a 2017 Jeep Compass and has experienced the vehicle shutting down during operation in traffic. To prevent that I check oil level every 500 miles and pour about a half quart in.
@ericj8103 жыл бұрын
Just got mine done with reflash. Did it during oil change time. It swings about 1 quart every 1000 miles. Was 2800 every quart. 55k miles on the 2018 renegade. I hope the flash helps. Seems to have changes the engine a lil. Feel more power at lower rpms. (Update: after 7 days of the recall work at 320 miles the oil level didn't change, not a drop lower. Still to early to tell. This week will be my second oil check. Prolly about 650 Miles by then. Normally at 650 miles it would have dropped. I will update then if its changed. So far so good. But the next oil check will be the truth teller if this recall really changed anything.) (2nd update: checked oil again at just under 1000 miles since recall update, normally would be 1 quart low by now but to my surprise it's still full. If its dropped any it's not by much. So the update did something to the engine to fix high rate oil consumption so far. I will know full effect over the next 6000 miles or so. But ya it works.)

Very nice video. I received the same notice (W84?) although my used 2015 jeep 2.4L had no problems with oil. I did not know it had to do with deceleration. Took some time to get used to the ZF 9 speed transmission and the vehicle is heavy for the engine size. Overall it is a decent vehicle.

My 2018 Pro Master City has done the same thing since new. I took it in a few months ago and they ran a test to where I brought it back after 1500-1800 miles. They said it passed and I was good, which is total BS because it goes through oil like crazy. Fast forward to today I got a class action lawsuit postcard in the mail about it. All I want is an engine that will last and not burn through oil like crazy. Looking into the details of this settlement crap now.

@@555_Lady_JB took it to the dealer and they ran an oil consumption test. It passed apparently. Couldn't verify this since you aren't allowed to check the dipstick since it will void the procedure. Did your Jeep drive noticeably different in engine performance and feel after the work was done? I have a 2015 Promaster City (the baby van, not the big papa bear size one) with the same 2.4 tiger shark 4 and 9 speed automatic. I received the same recall notice you did. And my dealer called me to schedule an appointment. I have not done it yet. I spent some time finding out what they do. I have 17,500 miles on my van and I have not yet had to add any oil between oil changes. By far, most of my driving is city/suburban driving with speeds only between 20 and 45 mph. I don’t get on the freeway much, and mi gas mileage shows it. But I noticed at around 14,000 to 15,000 miles, my highway fuel economy improved some. And from 16,800 miles to now it has improved some more. When I do my next oil change, I am going to have my engine oil, power steering fluid, brake fluid and engine coolant tested to find out it’s condition prior to the engine service.

Out of curiosity what other issues have you had with your Cherokee? Have you had to replace the battery yet? I've had two Cherokees now and like clockwork the battery seems to always fail right after the 36,000 mile warranty period. Then you need to replace the batter with a battery with AGM technology at $200.
@4-LOW3 жыл бұрын
Yes the battery was garbage. Lasted a couple years. It's also had several recalls done. But other than the oil consumption issue I can't say that it's ever broken down or anything, so it hasn't been a terrible vehicle really.
