I really like this reviewer. He doesn't have annoying traits like saying THEE for the word "the" and AYE for the word "a" (uh). Oh, and you don't sing-song your sentences like some other video reviewers. You just spoke conversationally, which I greatly appreciate.

All these JL people keep saying how great they are, these are fluff seeking luxury people. But for Jeepers who still appreciate the rugged, utilitarian, true Jeep, we go towards our tried and true and leave the bells and whistle fluff jeeps to the softer generation who actually think upscale features from a grand Cherokee belong in a Wrangler. Enjoy your JL while I get rid of my '08 JK X 3.8l mini van pos for a TJ, the greatest Jeep generation of them all. Never should have bought this junk but we live and learn. 4.0L I6 from now on. The best Jeeps have 2 doors, round headlights, soft top and 4.0L Jeep On 🇺🇸

Incorrect 90 percent of torque is available at 1500 RPM with a peak at 3000 RPM to 5200. So ten percent isn't exactly coming on like a switch. 3.6s 90 percent starts at 2200 peaking at 4800. The 2.0 makes more power than the 3.6 from 1500 to 5200.

I feel like Chrysler actually put some of the money you spend back in to the vehicle. While I love my JKU rubicon I know they R&D is well paid for on the 10-20 year old parts out of their bin. It’s not the point that wranglers need the newest electronics and drive train but if you’re paying top dollar you might as well get the gear with it. I think they did their homework on this model.

How about some clarification on the transfer case, jeeps used to only have-a part time full locking transfer cases, now they have a full time case, does it lock at all? Or only on the rubicon? This is the million dollar question.

I have owned a JK with a hardtop, and Trek Top NX, and 2 TJs which I replaced the soft tops on and all 3 Jeeps leaked a little, very little, but leaked none the less, of course the leaks were during a Indiana torrential down poor. I still wouldn't own any other vehicle but a Jeep for my daily driver.

Looks like Jeep is going down the same path as Land Rover; making their cars unaffordable to the masses. They both used to be reasonably priced, utilitarian vehicles that regular folks could buy.

Rick Williams the rubicon starting price is only 10% higher than the average vehicle in the US sold. Pretty good value there. If you want all the nick nacks you'll have to pay then.

@JeepCherokeeful
@JeepCherokeeful 6 жыл бұрын
Firestarter some of us just want the off road hardware, nothing else, no screens, aluminum rims, etc, the most expensive is the Rubicon, not the best to beat up off road!
@KTMcaptain
@KTMcaptain 6 жыл бұрын
JeepCherokeeful no offense, but you don't know what you're talking about. The Rubicon comes with a slightly upgraded screen, power door locks, and power windows. It's under $40k base. If you want 4 doors, auto, cool screen, hard top etc, then it'll be over 50k. A sport with the basic Rubicon nice-i-ties is 30k, so you'll be spending about 8k on the Dana 44 upgrades, lockers, sway discon, transfer case and axle gearing, and better fenders going with the Rubi. Just get a base sport and throw a Detroit locker in the rear and a true trac in the front on a 2 inch lift with 33s and you'll be around 35k wishing you got the Rubi. Or get an xj and build it up. But the Rubicon can be had for under $40k new if you want it that basic, so stop with the nearly maxed out unlimited crap.
@5stardave
@5stardave 6 жыл бұрын
Regular folks can buy them, if you have a good credit rating. Back in the 80's I could get a coffee at Denny's for 50 cents. Today it's $3.50 that's 7 times more. Forgetting all the gadget crap and merely talking capability, if you take a YJ, adjust for inflation and add the extra capability and on road performance, the JL price isn't that unreasonable.

sorry to burst ur bubble but the 90/110/Defender is way ahead. besides the transfer everything is tucked up nice for way more ground clearance, coil spring suspension soft and smooth! mine has the engine back against the firewall i think the last ones did too but when they introduced the TDI they slapped in the long bell housing with the R380 gear box from Discovery and pushed the engine almost 12 inches forward!! to add insult to injury i saw a normal aspirated 2.5 diesel with an R380 gearbox with a short bell housing!!!

There is nothing wrong with the JK rock crawling. Heck just search KZbin and see for yourself. The JL is basically a JK with a bunch of added feature comforts for the ladies. Good luck hosing down the leather seats after they are contaminated with mud. I don't think people who buy the JL with brand embossed leather seats will do serious off-roading.
@crazyhass84
@crazyhass84 6 жыл бұрын
2Phast4Rocket jk had leather option. So u just like to complain? Buy a base sport if u want base.
@daytonsweet4645
@daytonsweet4645 6 жыл бұрын
The JL also has a better crawl ratio, wider track (more stability), similar wheelbase, and better engine options (apart from the 3.6 staying the same). There was a lot more added to this vehicle than just creature comforts.
@2Phast4Rocket
@2Phast4Rocket 6 жыл бұрын
Really, if you can't rock crawl with the current 2017 Rubi, you can't crawl, period. While the onroad manners have improved, I wouldn't try to slalom or taking curves like normal road cars with a Wrangler, because it is not built for that purpose. Okay if people don't have a Wrangler today, then wait and get a 2018. But if you want to wheel with a smaller budget, the JK is an excellent platform to build from, so much better than the TJ it replaces. The JL is only a minor improvement if that is the case. This is an opinion from a person who drove the JK and the YJ for a long time.
@2Phast4Rocket
@2Phast4Rocket 6 жыл бұрын
@Andy Hass: okay you have a point. The people who wheel the JL probably won't buy the leather seat option.
@daytonsweet4645
@daytonsweet4645 6 жыл бұрын
2Phast4Rocket I agree with everything you've said. I currently drive an 05 LJ. However I do feel it's unfair to say only creature comforts were added when it still was improved everywhere. We will have to wait for real world comparisons of the two, after all you can't mess with a Wrangler too much otherwise you'll start upsetting people.

As a journalist you should not be talking about the Jeep like the on road ride is so important, it’s a Jeep, with enough people talking like this Jeep will come out with a fully independent suspension with 5” of wheel travel off of the minivan, just saying, the only thing I don’t like about this is the additional gadgets on the dashboard, you just know that they are not waterproof, I’d be happy if they were totally waterproof, you used to be able to take a hose to the interior, not anymore.
