2018 Kia Sedona LX+ Review and Complete walkaround

Great review. Drove this for a couple of days on long road trip. Very comfortable, well thought configuration, button placement, design, practical and spacious van. Eight adult were comfortable on day long one way 800km trip. I liked how this van looks and feels like SUV on front and side of driver seat, suv like gear knob and placement unlike the other vans. Easy and clean layout dash. Recommend this van against all the competitors. I hated how other vans felt until I drove this van.

I used a Sedona as a vacation rental a few years back, and came away loving it. This video did a great job of selling me on the LX+. The only thing I wish it had was a DVD player entertainment setup. Overall I love it though.

It's often cheaper to buy an iPad than to have a DVD put in aftermarket. We did have a customer that installed an aftermarket DVD player in the ceiling, but most of our customers are using other devices like iPads to watch movies.

I bought one last year this time. I have 27,000 miles on it and I can say it looks better than my old 2007 Sienna and a lot more comfortable on long trips. Let's get the not so good spec out of the way. Gas mileage is not the best for in-town driving. I do a little it of Uber as a pastime and I get about 19-20 miles average per gallon. It is what it is, a 4500 pound vehicle, so it is not designed for stop-and-go traffic. However, when it is on a long trip out on the highway to Las Vegas, I get as much as 25 miles / gallon. The seats are very comfortable, even my Uber passengers are impressed. I have the essential convenience package upgrade whic included parking assist warning, leather seat, powered sliding doors, folding side mirrors, and the up-scale instrument display. I studied this car for 6 months, reading experts and owners's reviews before I decided on the Sedona. I can say this, for what I paid for my LX with upgrade, I could't even buy an entry level of Honda Oddessy or the Toyota Sienna. $32,000 out-the-door, which is incuding a 6 yr maintenance service package and tax/ licence. I have looked at the Pacifica which is about the same price as the other 2 competitors. Even thougth the interior looks pretty and the fold down seats give you a lot of cargo room in case you needed it, the Chrysler brand scares me as I have friends who own a 2500 RAM and a Town and Country van, both have electrical problems which had caused sudden stall on the freeway more than once. It is dangerous. They brought them back a couple of times and the dealer replace a few major electronic parts. They eventually settled it out of court. Oh yeah, I almost forgot to mention the 100,000 mile warranty. What so you get from the other brands?

The buttons on the side of front-seat are for the second-row passenger. Most Korean celebrities like singers and actors use this car and travel a lot. Not like Canada, most cities in Korea are within a day trip. When they move, a manager drive and the celebrity usually sleeps on the second-row seat. It works fine as a moving bed. :)

10:08 The telescopic motion of the steering wheel looks rather limited. Since I am 6'3", not being able to pull the steering wheel out far enough means I can't get a comfortable driving position for my knees and ankles. Is there some strong technical reason why car manufacturers cannot make telescopic wheels with longer movement?

We find that different cars fit people in different ways. In addition to the steering column being adjustable, the seat has a good amount of height adjustment,. We have several customers who are 6'3" and above and are quite happy with the amount of space in this vehicle. Try it out! Maybe it will work for you.

Hmm, I just went to the Kia website, and there is no listing for an LX+. Was that a temporary offering? It seems to go from an LX to an EX .... at least on the website.

We are from Canada, and the Canadian website currently lists an L, LX, LX+ and so on. So perhaps you're looking at a different website, not Kia Canada's website. Trim levels can be slightly different in different countries.

Apparently it's a Canada thing. I live in Florida in the United States, and when I go to Kia.com, no LX+ or LX Plus to be found. I really do like the trim level, and you did a great job with the video.

kings17court If you go on Kias website and build an LX, you'll find the add on option packages that would make it an "LX+".

Completely fair criticism. I should have mentioned it. However, I rarely spend a lot of time on that. Most people who watch our videos have seen the specs, and I dig into the things that aren't listed in the specs.

The centre seat in the middle row is easily removable. The outboard seating positions are not.

Front axle issues with this 'minivan'. Mine has gone through 4 pairs in less than 60,000 km. Dealer says insufficient grease in boots from factor but kia has not recalled the part yet.

Kia is great on bells and whistles, but goes cheap on what's underneath. I've had a Sedona and an Optima, had control arms rust out AFTER their first solution to coat them, axle issues as well. Kia only replaced the Sedona's control arms after they rusted completely through and the vehicle dropped and had to be towed. Axle was damaged due to the control arm failure, Kia wouldn't own it. Optima engine seized, they tried to blame me but I had all my service records. Turned out to be a defect with nationwide recall. Dealer and corporate both promised me a "new" engine, installed a "remanufactured". Then THAT engine was recalled. Kia cars look great, but it's lipstick on a pig. And they FIGHT every step of the way on that vaunted warranty. Too bad but, as the saying goes, if it seems to good to be true it probably is. I know I'll never buy another one.

Other then the front axle shaft issue, this has been a flawless van. We have the SX with power back gate, power side doors, auto climate, etc. Feels and drives like an suv u til you look in the mirror and see all the space.

In Canada we call this the Sedona, and in our market, yes, it does have Apple CarPlay on the LX+ and above.

The 2018 Sedona is not available in AWD. The Kia Sorento is a 7 passenger SUV that is available in AWD if you're looking for a Kia.

The CD Player is going the way of the 8 track player and the cassette player. Most people have their music on their phones or other iPod like devices. The Sedona is fully capable to play music off of those devices, and with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, you are also now able to stream music to your van.

CD's are still played in 2008 cars, Cassettes are still played in 1998 cars, 8 Tracks could still be played in some 1988 cars... the trend is consistent. The hope is that people will continue to play their music through their mobile phones for more than the next 10 years, but predicting the future in this kind of thing can be difficult. We have customers who have burned their CD music onto a USB memory stick, and that works well in these vans to play the same music that you already own. As far as your radio only picking up one station, the Sedona does have Sirius Satellite Radio which will pick up hundreds of stations, however this is a subscription service.

Satellite radio costs money and I don't feel i should have to pay to have my local stations come in. Also I only have a phone and have no way to download music to it so cds are my only options. Looks like we will not be investing in a new Kia in the future. Hopefully other vans still have the CD player option.

just stick in a usb with all your music on it, it should play automatically and you can control the playlist from the infotainment center.

In Canada right now, the starting price for the Chysler Pacifica is over $8000 more than the starting price for the Sedona, and we have features that the Pacifica doesn't have. There are good vehicles throughout the segment, but right now the Sedona is the value leader by a wide margin.
