I got my tpi 250exc Six Days early October (international version) and have fallen in love with it!!! It runs perfectly since day one, and the performance is really top notch. I have not had any glitches with the tpi tecnology, after 20+ hours on it so far. Really worth the long wait.

I can read the fault codes with an analog multimeter like on my K Jetronic? The only faults I had on my fi bike were mechanical and electrical which could happen on a non fi bike - worn butterfly shaft and a frayed ignition wire.

if the oil pump fail during a ride, is there a device that will shut off the engine before it run fuel with no oil?

Not sure, but the engine light will most likely come on.

I haven't fouled a plug on a carbed two stroke in years... I can't even remember the last time I changed one... this guy implies carb bikes are junk

It takes less then 10min to rejet I'll stick with my 17 carbed. Less bs to break all the time. I do like the way they are going but they need to improve it and simplify it.

moo man i think thats what they done for the last 10 years before putting this bike on the market, how to improve it more? Yamaha, Honda or Suzuki are still not there yet, everything in those efi are needed, electronics, fuel injectors, oil tank, oil pump, hard to get rid of them except if you go with carb, or new electric motor.

I have a 2017 ktm 250xcw with stock jetting KTM recommends that you run it at 60 to 1 when I purchased it it had a full tank of gas from the shop that I purchased it at with that ratio I ran it that way the first tank now using Amsoil and running it at 80 to 1 and I did my research I even called amsoil and spoke to the R&D guys about running my bike at 80 to 1 I first saw the video on the dirt bike Channel with Kyle and that's what he runs in his 2017 ktm xc 250 and he loves amsoil this is a far superior oil then a lot of oils out there AMA Supercross and Motocross a lot of the teams are running Amsoil the product speaks for itself when you put it in your tank if you run your bike Rich it's going to run rich and it will spew out the pipe that is your bike telling you you are running too rich I don't think TPI is bad but I'm not a firm believer on buying anything the first year it comes out even though KTM has done their homework i payed 7200 out the door because I waited till the end of the year to get this bike because as you know that is the best time to buy a new 2018 TPI out the door is 10200 which is crazy so you need to ask yourself is it really worth IT?

That's just without the battery it does not work))) A carburetor does not need it. But I'm only interested in motocross, not enduro.

Cool to see the technology finally come around however, I think I'll stick with mixing gas and running my Lectron carb on my 16 Beta race edition. Runs well at any altitude and never fouled a plug, doesn't have the added parts and weight, and keeps things simple and easy to work on with less to go wrong when your miles away from help

How about temperature changes with the Lectron carb? when it is hot or humid out in summer. Or cool for that matter.
@utdesertghost199

sonoma314 No problems that I can see, I put it on during the summer and am actually riding tomorrow, haven't touched it since I put it on and fine tuned it. It uses a metering rod system that self compensates based on air density. Altitude,temp and humidity all affect air density. I have great throttle response, better midrange and it actually feels stronger on top as well with no loss down low. I'm really happy with it as are a few of my friends that run them.

and here i am hoping for the honda rumors to be true
@iD4v1d
@iD4v1d 6 жыл бұрын
I doubt they are, that's probably some kind of boat engine. Honda has been a 4 stroke company since the 60s, why would they innovate in that area when almost every other manufacturer has dropped 2 strokes?
@guigui78340

because of the demand, 2 strokes are not dead

This sounds like the crossfire injection used in 1980s Camaros, etc. But hey, I'd rather have a carbureted bike that does not need a computer and a bunch of sensors to maintain and fail. Jetting? Just get a spare carb for high altitude and swap it out... just takes a few minutes. IMHO, the carb bikes are much better and I will not be interested in these ever.

Carbs are reliable and work well, but I think you will see a lot more efi on two-strokes in the future. they have gotten amazingly good on the 4-strokes. I think they will continue to get better on the two-stroke too....Justin
