I would give a thousand likes to Canadian car reviews for using the metrical system and liters per hundred kilometers.

Great video. I like the original family centric emphasis and format. It's now three years later, climate change has become one of the most pressing issues of our time, and the price of the 2018 NX 300h, in the used market, is far more affordable. I'd certainly like to do my bit for the environment, and coupled with Lexus' legendary reliability, the NX 300h is an excellent proposition. If I can find one with reasonable millage, then it's probably going to be my next vehicle.

Great review. My daily driver is a 2017 RX350 base which comes very well equipped and still returns an average of 11.8L/100 in the summer and about 12.5 in the winter with winter tires. That's with a 50/50 city and highway. My in-laws drive a 2016 NX200t which averages about 10.5 mostly city driving, but drinks premium. So for a smaller increase in fuel consumption you can get a much larger vehicle with better standard equipment for not much more money. Just depends on individual needs I guess. Thanks for the review.

I've heard this point of view before, Karim. Yep, it all comes down to what you value. Or there's always the RX hybrid, too!
@DigitalBoomBox6 жыл бұрын
Family Wheels that's true. The price creeps up quickly when you go after the RX hybrid... Guess we can't have it all

You fail to mention the fact that it uses regular gas instead of premium which may be less on fuel overall in the long run.

Appreciate the review. Do you know how the NX's winter handling compares to other SUVs? (Especially vs top rated makes for winter driving like Mazda and Subaru)

Thanks for the shout out, Paul. Another great review! At $55 - $62 K, I really can't see the value of this car over the RAV4 Hybrid. Other than appearance and some additional features (and a Lexus badge), how can anyone justify the $14,000 premium over a similarly equipped RAV4 Hybrid? No buyer's remorse here

I was wondering the same thing, Dave. Thanks again for the intel!

Awesome review Paul! We have a 2017 rav4 hybrid and was thinking of the nx hybrid for my own use. We have 2 toddlers and I love your standardised trunk test. Will probably get anothrr rav4 hybrid later. Hoping you will get a chance to review the Prius Prime next

Premium gas for 300 is a non-starter. Hybrids and winter do not make good friends - good one. Makes me rethink buying a hybrid. However, spend most of winter in Florida, so still OK, but price differential sucks. Didn't realize trunk space was so limited. Every square inch of our Camry is packed for the trip down south. Still work with cu.ft for capacity, but litres/100kms for 'mileage' -lol.

Here in Australia, base model of NX300h is only $2500 more expensive than NX300...

Another very informative and thorough review, Paul! What also really bugs me about this one (and most new Lexus vehicles in general) is that there is no front bumper! That fancy vulnerable grill up front is all well and dandy, but yikes - get into even a fender bender up front with it, and I'd hate to imagine the bill for just that alone! Also, if Lexus, and other auto manufacturers are so gung ho on getting hybrids to the market in the next few years, they dang well better start convincing and proving that hybrids make sense in winter...and they better NOT try to do it via the whole VW diesel scandal way either! I was a fan of Lexus vehicles years ago, but not anymore and your latest review here leaves me just as cold towards them.

I'll tell you one thing that really impresses me about Lexus, Michael. The paint! Gorgeous, deep tones... and far more durable than others out there. I don't often comment on paint but Lexus deserves a shout out!

To me hybrid/plugin/ev/hydrogen are for people who have better technology knowledge (some of my friends still don't know how hybrid works) and enjoy the tech. Yet Toyota/Lexus doesn't offer a better infotainment system on their 'technologically advance' vehicle.

I'd prefer Miles per gallon. Litres mean nothing to me. This is also another in a long line of reviewers who don't like CVT transmissions. I've now had three cars with CVT, and have had no problem at all with them. He would no doubt be happier with a German car, and spend a lot of time driving the dealer's courtesy car.

Hey Paul, is this Rav 4 size? Did you film this before or after the big snow?
@FamilyWheels6 жыл бұрын
I didn't compare sizes directly but based just on feel, I think the RAV4 is roomier. We tested after the big snowfall.
@King_Kenny666 жыл бұрын
So this must be more based off of the NX200 then. Don't know my Lexus's too well. Hope you made out okay after the snow. Haven't had much in Winnipeg yet this year. Thanks for the reply.
@King_Kenny666 жыл бұрын
okay, thanks. It must be smaller than an RX350 then. What's coming next for you?

They just need a larger battery pack and the option to plug it in. They need to quit half assing the hybrids they will only bring hate for them
@FamilyWheels6 жыл бұрын
I agree. It would be GREAT to see a PHEV in this car. But it needs far better electric range than, say, the BMW X5 PHEV we were in a few months ago to be really relevant.

Wow is that nose pointy on the non Sport. Really not a fan of this slow vehicle. I'd get a QX50mover this all day and get better fuel economy and performance. Paul watching you take your eyes off the road formthe infotainment really is telling. Not a great system
@Fleshybitz6 жыл бұрын
In defence of the infotainment system, once you understand it is not that bad and you should learn how to use it before you drive. I am in the 2019 NX 300h Premium and I can go right to energy screen.

I don't like the front of that car at all you think they would put some Chrome on it what happened to the good old cars with chrome it looks so ugly without Chrome
