I watched 'The Keepers' twice. I'm not Catholic, but it disturbed me beyond words. I live in a small town with a handful of different churches. There's one Catholic church and school. The priest got busted taking naked pics of little boys. He went to prison for a couple of years. When he got out, he got busted AGAIN for doing the same thing. They moved him around. I don't have anything against Catholics, but the institution itself is twisted sick in their cover-ups of sickos.

I just want to say how much I admire these women. After all they have endured, all of the pain they have gone through, they still managed to become such strong, inspiring and wonderful women. Being a victim of physical childhood abuse myself, they give me hope and strength for my own future. Thank you for your strength, for coming forward, and for helping other survivors by not giving up to tell your story.

I love all of these women. I am so happy that terms like sex trafficking and conspiracy were used and that the scientific knowledge regarding memory in survivors was clearly explained as well. The work of these women is groundbreaking and I believe will change the world.

I’m not a religious person….I’d prefer to say that I’m spiritual. Nevertheless this story captured my attention. Sister Cathy undeniably must’ve been a truly amazing human being to inspire and keep inspiring so many people to this very day. Even after such a long time she’s motivating people to do a right thing….to search for the truth. Just truly amazing!

My friend a victim of abuse from our parish priest was invited to our Bishop's office recently, his comment? "we all were hurt from this" Are you kidding me????? I mean seriously, you can sit across a desk and say that to a victim? Disgusting. They have invited her to speak at our local seminary. God I don't know how she does it.

A church i no longer will ever be a part of. Thank you all for your strength and courage. The only thing I disagree is that you said he is one of dozens and dozens unfortunately it is more like hundreds and hundreds. I do understand there are good priests but what i don't understand is why they would want to be associated with a horrible institution. I don't get it. If I worked for a hospital that I knew was hurting people I'd leave.

It’s easier said than done. Plus one never know what will be the consequences. Also, the point is not just to leave but to actually do something about the situation. Perhaps those ‘good’ priests that stayed are trying to do something from the inside which can’t be easy either as one never knows who and what they are dealing with. Those that simply turn their heads to a problem are the part of the problem.

Agreed, Colleen. An institution this criminally corrupt for so long probably shouldn’t be allowed to exist. Why we (society at large) allow it to continue is what boggles my mind. Any other business that operated this way would have been shut down long ago. I don’t believe attempting to ‘clean it up from the inside’ is a worthy or feasible goal.

It's perverse, but the laughter when discussing that monster being dead, just seems extremely appropriate.

I just watched this... it makes me sick in my stomach. I can’t fathom the pain and suffering of families...generation after generation.... the trauma each may hold as we see archer week after week at church... some questions I had as I watched this: 1. I know the church has policies protecting their priests...these priests know history, they know about the debauchery happening in the Vatican...that’s why they act the way they do... how much longer can people take this abuse? 2. Has the predator always been there or is celibacy creating the predator? 3. Is it that the devil is working extra hard to turn these God loving men and women to sin and cause people to turn away from the Catholic Church or are these people bad by themselves... 4. Did the just lose their way along their journey...or did they purposely pick the Catholic Church bc they knew the catholic church would protect them ... on one hand you want to commend them for their work and calling to do Gods work but... raping girls and boys is hardly Gods work... not my God at least. 5. Is the Catholic Church so in desperate need of priests that they must protect and retain every priest ? I understand they don’t want scandal but... like a weed, if you see it... you kill it and keep the weeds out 6. I know about the corruption of police forces...but how corrupted really is the police...in this case Baltimore? 2 old ladies do better work the trained professionals? 7. The Attorney General said she rode in her red coupe with the top down... that she had just bought it... her first few words were...how she doesn’t feel bullied by the Catholic Church... wow..2 of many red flags in her interview

I believe these predators were and are hiding in the church because their instincts tell them that they can get away with this behavior because of the power dynamics and the basic structure of the Catholic Church. Also pedophiles go where the children are. In addition they are in a position to gain the confidence of parents which gives them even greater access. These are the major dynamics which enable these predatory pedophile priests to harm children and get away with it.

I’m not religious but my younger brother is an Orthodox priest. You see, they have to get married and my brother has 4 kids and a beautiful wife. Still in the Orthodox Church there’s also abuse going on….I relay believe that those people choose church or schools because there they can act on their urges. It’s surreal that church is protecting them and for me that’s the worst…..don’t know just can’t understand and I’m a psychologist…pretty screwed up myself.

As a former researcher on this Keepers documentary, which is speculation on Abbie and Gemma's account. Ryan White told it from their perspective. As we looked into it, uncovered much more. Jane Roe used this documentary to get clients for the law firm she began in work for in May 2017. The Horn guy would tip her off of who was coming forward-clients$$$. The Horn guy also friends with a woman on the research team different that Roe allowed for this woman to interview survivors coming forward for a book she decided to write about abuse and police corruption. The niece of Edgar was also writing a book and using survivors for her benefit. $$$. Unfortunately, some took this horrific story and decided to cash in. You now have a Podcaster who at one time said he was a licensed investigator (no one could find a record of it) and the red head charactor from the Keepers cashing in with the selling of mugs, tee-shirts. One tee-shirt has the face of Cathy Cesnik. I don't understand how you can do that and say you care. You must look at this documentary as 2 crimes. One is the abuse not sure to what degree. 2nd the murder which there is no proof that Maskell ordered the killing or killed Cathy Cesnik. Jane Doe claims he took her to the body but why only take her if he was raping so many others and a few of them went to Cathy? Or did they? This can be a memory of Jane Doe who was severely damaged by so much abuse from her Uncle at the age of 3 to Maskell. No one knows if this could have been a dream of hers or something she made up in her head and believes it. We were sent on a wild goose chase to get info which has never been put out there for all to see and for some of these people to profit off. The student secretary has stated that she wore red to go see Maskell in the hospital. I guess she thought she wouldn't stand out by the white or very light green paint on the walls and took notice of the numbers punched into the monitor to get into the ward. Well we come to find out that Maskell had 24/7 security at all times and family with him also at all times. Too much embellishment to make the story more intriguing. Most of the players in the documentary are also connected to each other. Well, I hope that someday, we do find the murderer of Cathy but you must think outside of the box. I also hope these women get the help they need.

The niece of Ed never wrote or published book. She abandoned the idea after he died in December. Her Uncle Ed stalked her for years. He was the key suspect in the death of Gay Montayne who was another Baltimorean young woman who went missing. You have zero empathy for survivors of sexual abuse. You obviously did not watch the entire series. Jane Doe accurately stated that there were maggots in Sister Cathy's mouth when she saw her body, which was verified later by experts. You are so misinformed.

@@conneeconehead635 You have no idea who you are posting to, I went into this hoping to get information with other researchers to nail Maskell or anyone else. Get your facts straight or stop BS'ing like Deb, you are somewhat related and you know better. Ed's niece was writing a book and using information from people coming forward that Alan found-that is a fact. I never said she published the book. I am more informed than you know. The maggots sweetie was found inside her throat. Not a big surprise when bodies are dead, November was not that cold. Jane Doe would have known that Cathy was missing because it was all over the papers by Monday of that week, but it was all over the TV news by Sunday plus it was the talk of Monday morning Keough talk amongst the girls in class, so why would she say in the Documentary when she alleges Maskell took her to see Cathy's body that "What do you mean Cathy is missing?" Seriously Connee?. Jane Doe in her court records stated things that happened as truth and then took it back and said she was wrong. We have the court records to prove it. For you to say I have no empathy for sexual survivors is total BS. Why the hell do you think I went into this, you fool? I am giving you facts but since it doesn't fit into the narrative of what the Keepers say you try to insult those that speak out with the research that has been done. The detectives have NOT been able to pin it on Maskell or Ed. Or anyone. So you can believe what you want but don't go up against the facts we found. The detectives said to one of us that they believe they know who did it but can't prove it. Was it Ed? Maybe and one can only hope that they find out. I went into this hoping to find out who did this to her along with some other researchers. Maybe if you took a step back and looked at the whole picture and not take everything that was fed to you by the people in the Keepers you would maybe open your mind a bit. Because you are an alumni doesn't mean that you know it all, unless you are who we think you are. Maybe it was none of them and there is a murderer who is either dead or still alive out there. We all want to know what happened to this beautiful woman. So please shut up. PS. Glad you were there for the mini Keough get together last year. My best to Deb 😉Have a great day.

@@EA-fu2in Sorry, I have to respond to this one point, late as the response is. EA incorrectly writes above in order to discount Jean's testimony: Jane Doe would have known that Cathy was missing because it was all over the papers by Monday of that week, but it was all over the TV news by Sunday plus it was the talk of Monday morning Keough talk amongst the girls in class, so why would she say in the Documentary when she alleges Maskell took her to see Cathy's body that "What do you mean Cathy is missing?" EA MISQUOTEs this scene, for what reason I don't know. Jean didn't say --------"What do you mean Cathy is missing?" When Maskell tells her Cathy is missing (which of course she knew) he also says he knows where she is, at which point THEN she says : WHAT DO YOU MEAN? (she DOES NOT SAY What do you mean, Cathy is missing?). EA simply can't use this point as proof for anything, and being the expert EA claims to be, EA could have rechecked this fact as easily as I did by refering back to the documentary.
