This is a 3-day/2-night trip along the Mullica River in southern New Jersey. The run is from Goshen Pond to the Mullica River Wilderness Campground, then to Sweetwater Marina and River Deck.
Watch, as I endure a section of the river rarely touched and my torment becomes your pleasure.
Enjoy!
A big thank you to all who helped make it possible to share this adventure:
-The Davinci Resolve Team, for making an excellent free version to make my edits.
-The artists who create music samples to be used with Magix Samplitude (Thank you magix for giving me the ability to make my own music mixes)
-And of course other music provided by Bensound: www.bensound.c...

Hi Dennis! I'm glad you liked the video. I'm hoping to get back out there and film at some point, life got a bit busy for me after my son was born. I appreciate the comment!

Dude this was a fantastic movie! I don’t see the need to mock or make fun of things that happen along an adventure not all of us have been doing National Geographic kayak journey films- you did great. I’m hoping to find some more adventures on your channel- this was just what I needed to get up the balls to attempt something like this- a Selfie-Narrative/POV first hand look at a great, doable adventure! I skipped through a few paddling scenes, honestly, but I was so into it when you faded away “time to head home”, I thought that was it, but I loved how I got a whole ‘nother 11 n 1/2

Hey, that's awesome that you really liked it! I'm not that interesting but really wanted to try filming and editing. I would probably have skipped some myself. Sorry for the delayed response, comments on this channel just don't get forwarded to email even though they're set to. If you do go out and film, please share a link with me. I'd really like to check it out. When I started doing these I was hoping others would feel the way you do and make them, I really enjoy watching them from others. Filming has been delayed a bit for me since my son was born, then Covid lock downs last year and this year was swamped with work. The last one I filmed didn't work out. I started a trip high up on a river that was a complete nightmare with down trees, it took me about 8 hours to go 1 mile and I had to call my wife for an extraction... Ended up with poison ivy all over pretty bad too. Anyway, thanks for your comment. I hope I'll be able to get more filming done soon, have to work on monologues though I think. Or figure something else out.

Thanks! At some point I'll run it again in higher water. Make some "easy days" if I can, and maybe clear more obstruction. Thanks for the feedback River Kings (I actually subscribe to you under my my 'viewing' account).

Great video!!! I'm local to the Mullica and Atsion and I paddle it often,. But never heard anyone do it from Goshen Pond. It's really rough before the bridge. I give you lots of credit for clearing a path to the bridge!! Now I will go to Goshen Pond and see how far I can make it on my kayak. Thanks for the video!! It shows the Mullica well.. I don't think anyone else has a video of the Upper Mullica. I love the Pine Barrens!!!

Hi Cat Chick! Thanks for the comment, I really appreciate it! Glad you liked the video. From my searching I couldn't find anything for the upper Mullica which is one of the reasons I decided to do it and film it. I hope you were able to give it a go, it really was quite nice in hind sight. Once in a while I'll watch the video myself and really appreciate that I went.

An adventure for sure. Nothing like tackling the obstacles a river throws at you. Good video.

Hi Tony! Thanks for the comment, and sorry for the delayed response. My messages from this channel don't get sent via email even though it's set to do so. I'm glad you enjoyed the video! Also, I am a quitter, just not on this trip. I attempted the upper Great Egg Harbor River from Brooklyn lake and had to have an extraction after a grueling water hike through a forest of downed trees. It was most unpleasant!

I was rooting for you. It was more like taking your kayak for a drag than a paddle but cool that you powered forward and didn't turn back. Fun video, thanks

Hey, I just saw your comment now. Thanks for the compliment! I recently attempted another challenging one and ending up having to bail on the trip. It took 8 hours to get 2 miles and it was supposed to be almost a 15 mile trip. I'm down for a challenge, but there is a such thing as too much adventure, at least for me. Thanks for watching, and sorry for the almost year delayed response.

Cool video. Wondering how much further you could have paddled beyond your takeout point, and what that area would've been like. Do you know? I'd like to do a 3-day, 2-night trip in that area, but have no desire to go through the section you did for the first two days...

Sorry for the delayed response drchip. I pulled out at Sweetwater Marina and Riverdeck in Hammonton, NJ. If you pull it up on google maps (or even better, google earth), then you will see that the river will continually expand and lead you into marshy areas and eventually to Great Bay, which is the inlet at the most southern point of Long Beach Island. From my take out to the bay entry is about 18.5 miles (google earth has measuring tools for these things). There are probably 2 more areas beyond where I pulled out, that you can take out at. The only sanctioned campground on the river is the Mullica Wilderness camp, and Goshen pond if you were so inclined. An additional night would need to be on private property. You can easily acquire written permission from the owner by looking up the property records and mailing the owner directly. Land owned by the state, such as Wharton State Forest, we are not permitted to camp outside designated campsites. Hope this helps, sorry again for the late reply.

In New Jersey we're in short supply of multi day rivers. The Delaware is one option, there are several camps along the way. You might also look into our neighbor, PA. They have some awesome water trails already set up, you can check them out here: pfbc.pa.gov/WaterTrail.htm You can also camp legally on private land if you get the owners permission. Plan your trip using a tool like "Google earth" and/or an app called "onx hunt". Onx has a subscription service but give you a nice trial. Their software however provides property tax map info so you can lookup and contact the property owners and ask if you can spend the night there. As far as logistics, it depends on the waterway. Most popular rivers will typically have a livery service available that can shuttle you and your vessel. Otherwise you need to stage a vehicle at your endpoint and get dropped off up stream by someone you know. Or drop off your vessel at launch, park at takeout, taxi/Uber back to launch and hope your boat is still there. Hope this helps at least a little bit, thanks for watching!
