The last generation did. It has now been upgraded to the same platform as the LS and LC (TNGA FR). Either way, I think the technology, styling, and powertrain of the Crown is much more interesting than the GS. Now, should Lexus make a GS500h AWD, I might be convinced.

Akshay Mahesh the power transmission are the exact same. 2 litre turbo, hybrid, and V6 are the same as the GS. And the GS F is even wilder than any crown

Aside from the 2.0-Liter Turbo, all the powertrains are different. The 2.5L Hybrid is now a TNGA Dynamic Force Engine and the 3.5L Hybrid is Multi-Stage like the LC and LS. There is no NA V6. The Lexus GS is dead - too much overlap with the ES sedan which outsells it. Still I buy this over the ES on the account it is AWD.

This could be Toyota's top line sedan in North America, but instead we get the "stretched Camry" which is the Avalon. I rather Toyota import the Crown.

The Avalon isn't a stretched Camry at all. That's like saying the Sequoia is a stretched 4Runner. Think of how the Land Cruiser slots above the Sequoia. The Crown would be a great fit above the Avalon.

The Camry & Avalon both ride on the long TNGA platform - to be specific the Avalon & Lexus ES are closer in size but both are distant cousins of the Camry. Still with the sedan market in North America dropping like an anvil thrown into the ocean, I don't think Toyota can financially support 3 large sedans at the same time.

But the Avalon does serve a purpose as more than just the Camry's big brother, unlike the ES which is basically a fancier Camry that tries to demolish the Avalon's reputation and sales by copying its persona with the addition of the Lexus badge. That's pretty much the equivalent of calling the Audi A6 as a stretched A4 when it's not actually and more than that. But even then, think about it for a sec. The Avalon to me has always been a baby Crown. Platform aside, they both feel like Lexus vehicles with the Toyota badge, and the Crown would be a great fit above it. Even by observing the size and dimensions closely.

This Crown line up should be sold in even Europe and USA markets because this is truly a beautiful luxury sedan at an affordable price, especially their 3.5G executive version! I do not see any overlap with Lexus series, Toyota! plus Lexus front grills are ugly af.
