I love how whenever Michelle is approaching a gut-punch word, she draws out the word before it, like she's rubatoing in order to delay the hurt. it's not "Then, a moment of dread." It's "Theeeen, a moooomeeeent ooof dread."

I gotta say, the subtle transformation when she first opens the music box is brilliant

This video made me realise that when Dan sings "The day that I lost you" he can also mean Diana and in this version, I'm sure he does 😭

Dan's pride leaves him feeling helpless. Rather than allow himself to experience grief, he just resigns to "I lost my son, I lost my wife, I'm losing my daughter, but I still have to pretend I'm ok." That's why the moment where he accepts Madden's offer to recommend a therapist so meaningful. Dan's the type to feel "Yeah, some people need therapy, but if I did it I'd be ashamed" and then he realizes "Oh. I'm just like anyone else. I'm allowed to feel pain."
