Im a big fan of the molded-in handles, especially when they arent also the front and rear bumpers. This boat makes a lot of sense for rivers, giving us a place to stow our rods while we portage with solid handles to attach a tow strap to. And if you piton, you wont be wrecking the handles.

Would the 6 inch hatches fit behind the seat on the outboard sides of the molded in rod holders?

The new ones are wider than their old model which I got recently. Wish they would have kept a few of the hatches from the previous model. That was the main reason I went with the older style. Sure the newer ones are much more stable though. I'm mainly in rivers & lakes here in East Texas, so hoping to not need the extra stability, but you never know. Good review though, would really like to see it in action around Galveston along with your older models.

I still enjoy using the older models and they are a great choice for slow rivers,lakes and bays depending on your confidence level. A comparison and action videos are in the works. I am very pleased both versions and the overall thought that Perception puts into their designs... Thanks for the comment and view!

I don't know much about kayaks and I know people generally say go smaller for just lake/canal/river outings, but - would you say you could use this on canals? Or would you recommend a smaller kayak? This is one of the few that actually instantly stood out for me

I bought the 10.0 version, which is actually 10.5' in length. The seat pad is really my only dislike. It's just not enough padding for my 58 year old behind so I augment it with a stadium pad.

I agree, after being in the saddle for a month or so the new seat could have definitely been made a bit thicker... easy fix though, I'm looking for some eva foam and swap out the seat.
