I just helped my friend and the only option at the local auto parts store was 2” drop. The guy at the counter told us to grease the bolts to prevent squeaking and not to tighten everything until it was back on the ground. His wife is short and wanted it to be lower. He hates running boards so this was his choice. Your truck looks good!

Greasing the bolts is a good idea, so far we haven't heard any squeaking hopefully it stays that way!

Hey I am loving this W/T builds! Also, I am not sure if it is plug and play, but have you all thought about putting rear LED taillights off of a High Country truck on the back of the 2018?
@TyBrink
@TyBrink 6 жыл бұрын
Jaden Sanderson thanks man, we thought of that and looked into it a little bit a while back. The lights are expensive, I can't remember somewhere between 1,000 and 2,000! I think it also requires a different wiring harness for the back to work with the led's, it wouldn't be hard but that's a little too expensive.

Ty Brink Yeah, no way I would pay $1K for some OEM LED lights when some aftermarket LED ones are about $250.

I would like to see an update on your Dads truck and if you have done anything to the interior and/or interior shots. I also wonder what you and your family do for a living. I assume farming and I only ask because everything in your shop looks so neat and clean and organized. Could we get a tour of the shop? I live in the south but think the barns and farms of the midwest and north are pretty grand and pretty neat. Great Video as always. I really like the look of the single cab 2018 and am considering buying one. I have a 1995 Z-71 extended cab with no rust now and don't know if I could part with it though. If you buy older trucks it worth coming down to buy them rust free. I live in Georgia.

Why not just cut stock bolts and use shorter bolts that goin the opposite direction, basically the nuts on the inside instead if outside that way you don't have to disassemble anything. What do you think?
@TyBrink
@TyBrink 4 жыл бұрын
I'm not sure if that would work or not, it's possible but we just wanted to use the stock bolts since we had them. It's not hard to loosen the bed and lift it a few inches.

I had put in 2 inch rear drop shackles on my gen 5 crew cab. I bought “ belltech “ rear drop shackles on amazon my any possible way that they were counterfeit due to the fact since I slapped them on gm told me there was tension on my trans and drive shaft was uneven with my trans so once I hit high speeds I started leaking trans fluid. I asked around different shops and even my tuner and all of them told me they never heard of anything like that happening by putting on the shackles. I ended up taking them off to prevent it from happening again, but I hate the factory stance. And just trying to get some facts or opinions. Hope y’all can help..
@TyBrink
@TyBrink 4 жыл бұрын
Some people say you need to shim the rear end to correct the pinion angle, but from my limited knowledge you should only have to do that if you lower it quite a bit. The only other problem I can think of is tightening the bolts while the truck is off the ground. It could be causing some binding maybe, the bolts need to be torqued with the truck sitting on the ground.

That soft set down and immediate measure is not gonna be right. After drop parts always drive it around the block a few times to cycle the suspension and get the springs squatted from the trucks weight. Then measure the new ride height. Stuff settled down. Even the next day sitting on the springs overnight will be lower than the second after they have weight added to them.
@TyBrink
@TyBrink 6 жыл бұрын
Bill Antalek jr we jumped on the back hitch a bunch of times before measuring, but I agree it might drop a little more yet. I'll measure it again in a few days and see. I just wanted to get a quick before and after measurement so I could finish the video.

If you're doing it on a 2014 to 2018 the worst part is that the top shackle bolts hit the bed. Some people say to cut the piece of metal on the bed to get the bolts out but I would definitely loosen all the bed bolts and lift it just enough to get the bolts out and back in the new ones. Make sure you have Jack stands under the frame and the axle hangs loose with no load on it. Then just lightly support the diff with floor Jack. Other than that it should be easy unlike my 04 Silverado where I couldn't get the bolts out because they are rusted stuck in the bushings.

Ty, could you measure the outer diameter of the front sway bar in MM on this truck via a digital caliper? I believe the 4 wheel drives and police PPV Silverados come with a bigger diameter sway bar than the 2wd. If so I’d like to upgrade mine to an OEM 4wd sway bar. The steering on my 2018 2wd with Electric Power steering feels numb/mushy almost as if I driving on a muddy soft road, it just feels unstable, even with New stiffer Bilstein struts and alignment checked multiple times. It driven this way since new, I now have 79,000+ miles
@TyBrink
@TyBrink 4 жыл бұрын
I come up with about 34 millimeters does that sound about right?
@Mr.Beastforpresident
@Mr.Beastforpresident 4 жыл бұрын
Ty Brink Yes, Thanks! The 2020 a Silverados are the same diameter with pivot ball joint type end links. According to GM website the PPV Police Pursuit Silverados they are 36mm front sway bar with 35 MM shock bodies. Your truck has 46 MM shock bodies being it’s a 4x4.

Thanks sir. They say don't reuse the ubolts because the threads get stretched putting the nut on and taking off. But since we removing the blocks. The same thread area isn't going to b being used. I have an 18 silv. And I have like almost an inch and a half extra of threads on top of the nut area with the blocks on. So I think I'd b fine reusing them since a new location. Of threading will b being used. What's ur take on That? And thanks for the reply

@@lonestar3737 on my 04 I got new u-bolts for a 2wd truck since they did not come with blocks. The 2wd ones are 2 inches shorter on that generation of trucks but I'm not sure about on the '18s. Check my newest video to see what I'm talking about if you're interested.

I'm no expert but this small of a change is probably not going to affect it enough to matter. Towing a trailer with the stock height could make the back end sit a lot lower than this.
