This is one of the best videos I've seen on lowering the back of the truck. Thank you very much for taking the time to make this video. I'm going to add some sulastic shackles and remove the stock blocks soon and this video helped me decide to tackle it myself.

This video was a big help for me as I just lowered the rear of my 2017 Silverado. This video was the very best I found for this project. The instructions that came with the kit were not much more than 'remove old parts, install new parts'.

I unbolted the rear 4 frame-to-bed bolts and was able to push the bed up just enough to get that stupid bolt out. Would be nice of GM to relieve that little area to make servicing the shackles easier.

As good of a demo to do this as I've ever seen. Great job. Just got my 2'' lower shackles in the mail today. Maybe do the 3'' drop later. Thanks for sharing the great video to help us out.
@shanelumpkin97273 жыл бұрын
I used this video for my 2” drop so appreciate that. I did find that my shackles weren’t so easily replaced so to a lack Jack lol. The leaf actually slapped the bottom of the bed and had to pry down on it to line bolts etc. I also went on to follow bending that seam but not much luck. So what I noticed and it made it a lot easier to get that bolt clearance at the top. If you remove the two bolts fastening the bed to the frame at the rear. You will be able too get that clearance as well. I’ll be doing the 3” kit shortly after noticing I’m still 7/8” higher in the rear. Thanks again!

I'm pretty sure you should flip the new shackle 180°. The original shackle has the closed-end facing the wheel and my new shackles have a grease cert that would be impossible to reach if it was facing that way so I had to turn them around consistent with what factory looked like.

Question... Does this change the angle or length of the driveshaft? I am currently having a 2 piece made and already gave the shop the current measurements so don't wanna have to end up having them modify either one of the shafts afterwards. And you say that you jack up the leaf spring so are you jacking up the rear differential on the side you are working on or keeping the jack under the center of the rear differential?

The most common thing that happens when you drop a truck and gives you rattle or hit is the exhaust. Have you checked that? Have someone get under the truck slightly and jump up and down on the bed, sounds guetto but usually you'll find the problem right away. Good Luck!
@abrahamherrera15177 жыл бұрын

I have a 2015 and I recently did 3” drop shackles but it still has a rake of 7/8” to an 1” but I’m debating if I should take out the rear block to finally get it leveled. Did it mess with ride quality? Also did it mess with your pinion angle or your drive shaft?
@brisebridges34754 жыл бұрын
I have the same question, over on pmoore4321 channel he talks about the ride quality changing and how he had to add shock extensions and the belltech shims. His is a single cab tho.
@Doperey19984 жыл бұрын
Brise Bridges it’s actually 1” 5/8ths and if I were to take out that block it would be just about leveled out but I also noticed the bump stop would lay on the frame so I might have to cut it or go with a smaller bump stop. But also don’t wanna mess up anything on my shocks or coils
@brisebridges34754 жыл бұрын
Pinchemexicancx so I got the shackle kit from bell tech and did it myself, truck looks great and ride is same if not better. Bump stops are close but not a problem, pinion angle and drive shaft weren’t effected at all. Shocks feel like that ride a little more smooth.
@Doperey19984 жыл бұрын
Brise Bridges you took out the block?
@brisebridges34754 жыл бұрын
Pinchemexicancx yes I took the block out , my dad got a lift put on his truck the day before I lowered mine and he ask them about it for me. They said they do it all the time and never had problems. So I went for it, glad I did.

Where do you jack it up to let the top one out
@christorres20634 жыл бұрын
On mine I put jack stands toward the rear of the frame and the leaf springs went up on their own. Then to lower the leaf spring to to put the bottom bolt I jacked the truck from the hitch. I didn’t remove my hitch I just notched off a little more of where it’s notched already and I removed the bottom bolt that way

@streetryderz2096 жыл бұрын
1216hello you jacked it up from the wrong spot. If it's jacked from the frame and lifted up high the leaf springs/ rear end has no other way to go then down. I would remove the wheels for easier access and less weight to manage.

@sofakingtactical57105 жыл бұрын
Only if you're removing the blocks. So long as your nuts are engaging un-used threads you're ok, it's the interface between the nut's cut threads and the bolt's rolled threads that can't be re-done.
