Hi Bobby..I bought this Forester back in May 2017..I'm in the Client Management Division..requires me to travel at least 100 to 120 km a day sometimes shoot up to 200 km most of the time to my clients place. Already clocked 60, 000 km on the mileage driven up until August 2018. Been to rugged terrain, hilly roads, coastal roads and the highway of course; up North , South, East and West of Peninsular u tell me been there..this beast so far served me at its best..sometimes being funny I"play" around in "Beast mode" a little bit with other SUV ..to conclude...this Beast, you ask ..this thing will deliver..period!I would recommend those who wanna play in the SUV league..please test this Beast out ..you won't regret it!

Drove this subaru forester 2.0iP to Bangkok last month (from Johor Bahru), it was very comfortable and relaxing one. handling was not as good as CX-5 but like Bobby said it got everything for a car (on paper) for the price you pay. Boot a bit on the small side. A very good car for a long trip and family outing very stable and relax at speed around 130km

kean shing choong also stable at 180...

I'd be interested to see if the CX5 rotates around a corner as well as the Forester!
@keanshingchoong73526 жыл бұрын
No, CX-5 don't . It just feel a little big more involved, I do love this Subaru, it just got a little more leg room at the back that why I choose Subaru over cx-5 when I make my trip to Bangkok. Again for a proper 4 wheel drive SUV no others come close on this price range. That's the good reason to buy this Subaru.

tested this beast for off road terrain..ha..ha..beat the hell out most of other SUV..come close to this Forester is CX 5..oh BTW..got this beast last 2017 in May..loving it until now!

I do agree that Subaru's needs to upgrade their aesthetics, however i really feel the platform, engine and drive train is way ahead to many transversely mounted competitions. Taking it into B roads and during heavy storms is where Subaru really shines, stability in undulations and rough roads. Pricing between the xv and forester is very close even in the us markets as both are based on the impreza's platform but confusing i must say, and subaru's tend to be a little more expensive among their Japanese counterparts. i simply love the solid utilitarian feel but i hope we get better interior soon and the all new (all new platform bobby) xv seems to head in the right direction.

+trustgtr33 i totally agree Subaru's outright capabilities. I even call them "Mechanically Premium" too. But consumers now wanted a car that appeals not just how they drive. But how it looked too. If they were houses, Subaru is a 1200 condo with earthquake proof construction whereas Honda just build a 1700 sqft condo with huge rooms and many rooms .... which is what people wanted.
@trustgtr336 жыл бұрын
up to 2013, subaru was just making 850k units globally today it is one of the fastest growing brand in the us with over 20 percent increase sales annually. Being viable in such small numbers and long wait list in their biggest market, i guess subaru feels it caters to a small niche. Its easy for subaru to go full premium though, it already has premium engine and drivetrain, proper layout, all it needs is some nice clothes and refinement..but they wont sell at the price i can afford.

Subbies design are always boxy bcos but performance in steep uphill and descent roads, handling in off road and wet conditions are always the winner...depends what the driver's preferred. Design wise, CRV & CX5 purely a winner...but in KL roads, subbies have advantages bcos too many potholes, flooded clogged drain after the rain and construction almost everywhere....CRV and CX5 owner have to be careful when passing thru all the above bcos the camber shaft & 19 in rim is not meant for bumpy roads....lol

Came very close to getting the XT version (CBU from Japan with the powerful 2.0 turbo) of the pre-facelift Fozzy. In the end, the CVT, efficient as it might be, swayed me to other cars with a conventional gearbox (plus it was missing the hood scoop - not acceptable for the turbo model). Just couldn't take the whiney sound as it surged up the speedo. But i recall that XT i had a look at had way bigger boot space, as it didn't have that step.

In Thailand, the spare parts cost (of the xv) is more than double that of cx-5 and cr-v. Not sure about Malaysia though. Resale is also a bit poorer than those others. The cx-5 was by far the most popular for bookings at the Bangkok Motor Expo.

Hey Bobby, just wondering, what are your thoughts on the 118i M Sport ? I’m looking for a spare car and I’m interested in it, I’m particularly interested in the driving dynamics of the car and it’s compactness. Do you think it’s a good buy and if you do/don’t, why ?
@BobbyAngmalaysia6 жыл бұрын
+Lezlie Diggy it's a fanfuckingtastic buy bro! Not very fast, but the suspension and handling, and the fact that it's a 3 cylinder, turbocharged, rear wheel drive hatch in 2018 with a manual handbrake. This combination is the last of its kind. This is a future classic
@Leszlig6 жыл бұрын
Ah, I see. Have you driven the 120i? If you have, what are your thoughts about it? I'm looking at Auto Bavaria's premium selection section and they have a 120i that goes for 8,000 rm cheaper as compared to the 118i but is registered in 2015 vs the 118i's 2017 date. The milage for the 120i is 5xxxx KM versus the 118i's 12000 KM. I test drove the 118i and pretty much have decided on the 1 series, question is, 118i or 120i.

You went to the foot of Mt.Forester Subaru and you give a review .You should also go to the "Xtreme Top" of Mt.Forester Subaru and give another review. I strongly believed that it is a totally different view all together. I am actually considering between the FXT version and the Audi Q5, both engine specs maybe pretty close but the FXT will save me approx SGD 100K. Bob if possible maybe you could review and test drive the Forester XT, as your comment is pretty important to my decision making. Thanks

Bobby Ang But if you were to compare specs the harrier is more worth it, better interior quality and engine performance, im from SG so if forester and harrier have rlly big diff im sorry, but in SG the harrier is selling like hotcakes cuz of its value for money. Anyhow, possible to do a review on the harrier turbo once its on sale in malaysia?
@leejeremy16306 жыл бұрын
over in sg the diff is about 15-20k diff and cx5 here is same or more exp than harrier. Was deciding on Forester XT but I decided on Harrier Turbo (HT) after watching your previous review on the non-turbo. Why don't drop by SG to test HT & CHR? I believe some arrangements can be made.

Seriously in Singapore? High income professionals? I take it that you are joking, right? Other than "Forestman", XV and a handful Imprezza, you are lucky enough if you see any WRX, Levorg, Legacy or BRZ otr in Singapore (these are models which I consider as premium). Forester, XV & Imprezza are just a bunch of b&b cars in Singapore.

there was a write up recently on subaru owners in the us not sg, however despite singapore being a small nation plus the cost to own a motor vehicle there i am suprised that singaporeans are willing to purchase a subaru instead of competitors . its a fully urban nation with modern highways etc. www.nbcnews.com/id/37274797/ns/business-us_business/t/subaru-barrels-through-recession/#.WlN469-WaUk
