Two corrections: Wheels are the standard wheels with aero caps removed and lug/center caps installed. Even without the "glass roof" from the premium interior package, the back-seat passengers will still have glass above their head as it's just part of the rear window.

Just a little correction: The wheels on your test car there are actually the standard wheel that is free and comes with Model 3. They've just got the aero wheel covers off therefore look different. :-) Great review! Oh, also, I don't know if I would recommend everyone skip the 220mi Standard Battery as everyone's driving habits are different. I *never* drive over 100 miles in a day (really it's about 20 miles), so a $9k price increase for nothing isn't really smart. PS - it's cute hearing people in mild climates talk about how they want the A/C in a car to be quiet and just work. In places like Texas we want it to basically be full blast all the time or we'll melt. lol

Reviews say that the vents can put out some massive air on high, so I wouldn't worry.

Totally agree: Get as much battery as you actually need. If you don't need 310 miles of range often enough, then the larger battery pack is basically a wasted resource and less energy efficient overall. Most Americans and Europeans drive fewer than 40 miles a day. The smaller pack will work fine for long road trips, charged slightly more often. Yes the total area of the very wide vents is large. They should put out a lot of air with relatively lower noise than fewer, smaller vents.

Chad: I drove a 2013 model S60 for 3 years+. Real world range about 200 miles/charge. This was way before the prevalence of superchargers available today: I went everywhere with no problems. Unless you do a lot of long distance driving, the 220 mile range pack is fine.

Excellent clip, you've revealed a few extra things lacking in others. We hold a reservation and expect about a 18 to 24 month wait in New Zealand. We plan for the smaller battery as it will suit our driving habits. So looking forward!

phil, do you think it would be useful to be able to voice activate the category of adjustment...ex: "tesla mirrors" and the mirror adjustment pops up on the screen then you can use the wheel scroll or screen to adjust. seems like searching visually and manually for categories on the screen is a pain while driving. also , i assume the screen doesn't swivel. would this have been a useful thing to have had? thanks.

Austin Allen they are not reviews, a review is an unbiased formal assessment of something... these people are making tesla commercials not car reviews. This isn't about positives and negatives, these tesla commercials are about why these idiots who paid 60k for a golf cart are supposedly justified in that purchase, and they are clearly too blinded by their excitement to see the short comings staring them in the face.

Hi! Quick Model 3 question I'm hoping you can answer for me. I get mine in a month! :). I'm considering adding a small tablet to the left off the steering wheel to get Sirius XM and alternative navigation etc. Could you measure the distance from the very left edge of the steering wheel to the end of the left of the dashboard? I'm wondering if it has at least 7" in width...

@BaconatorJames
@BaconatorJames 5 жыл бұрын
Whatever happened to the battery switching stations? I really thought that was going to be the future. Swap your battery out, 3 mins, don't even have to get out of the car. Gas stations could adapt to this emerging technology & still attract customers. Was it the way batteries are installed in the cars, or the cost of the switching stations? It seems so much easier to keep various fully charged Tesla batteries on hand than to keep an array of charging stations where customers are held hostage for possibly hours.
@oliverzahn6398
@oliverzahn6398 6 жыл бұрын
Correction: the rear roof window, which you say is the most important part of the upgrade, is not actually part of the upgrade but included in the base version as well. So your argument that the upgrade is a must have for rear passengers not to feel cramped is wrong.

I read someplace that Tesla would soon be coming out with external customizing instrumentation packs for the model 3 which would connect up to the center screen using wireless Bluetooth . These packs would allow you to control your car in a more familiar or preferred way. Included in the packs would be analog or digital speedometers, fuel gauges, temperature meters. Also included are button or slide switch windshield wipers, lights, etc.. Could anyone confirm this announcement?

Great review! Only negatives....that auto pilot is not such if you have to keep your hand on the wheel. They need to knock Cadillac's solution off and quick. Second there is another solution for electric and cheaper the Bolt or the Nissan. Primarily the Bolt because it has the range. It is not as nice inside but it gets the job done. Still great car I wish Tesla the best.

My biggest concern with the 3 is auto-body repair in the unfortunate event of an accident. I’ve read HORROR stories of repair jobs taking 9 months to a year. I really hope Tesla is addressing this. Also I hope Tesla expands their dealer/store network. The closest Tesla dealer to me is 90 miles away. Open a Tesla dealer in my town and I’ll be a lot more likely to buy a Tesla.

I agree, everyone should skip the 200+ mi battery, upgrade to the 300+. 200+ mi may occasionally give you range anxiety when you are trying to use it like an ICE car on a weekend, especially when you live in a place like Texas. If you live in a city with 2 super chargers available, you will definitely have to plan your weekend drive around town, like in Houston, TX, if you were to exclusively use an electric car with 200+ mi range or even 300 mi range. Living with a P90DL for almost 3 years gives me a new perspective on Tesla. Because Tesla tells you not to charge to full all the time, because of accelerated degradation, you end up having less range when charge daily (80% charge =230+ mi in my car. most Tesla reviewers only review the car but not user experience as a long range electric car owner. The user experience , on the aspect of range, is a function of how many super chargers are available in your city. This is probably the important aspect (most frequently asked) and even a deal breaker for people to decide to go all electric. ICE car users need to know when cross over. They will need to plan, there will be occasional be range concerns. Home charging is good for a weekday driving to work. A weekend driving, especially around town, can be quite different. City you live in matters.
