Aloha from Hawai'i Erick, Mahalo nui for this video. I just received my new Tohatsu 6 hp motor yesterday, and I'm looking up break-in videos, and found yours. I'm putting my motor into a bucket for at least the initial 10 minute break in right after this. I also own a 2.5 hp Suzuki for 10 years now which was very reliable but it was a tad slow. This 6 hp should get me into the fishing grounds much faster. Best wishes to you and your family. Aloha a hui hou.

Great video review it helped me make my decision and I also went with this motor. Just to point out that spare rope it comes with is an emergency starter rope and in the manual it shows how to remove recoil starter and use but is the same rope so to each there own. But mine says the 10 min break in must be in water in gear under load at idle 10 min. Doing it your way did you have any issues later on ? Don't seem to be much different other than gently wearing in motor and gear at same time maybe 🤔

I would say let it rest. The carb may be overflown. It is likely to start up again soon. Let me know how it goes
@vsukh20114 жыл бұрын
I just started mine up maybe 5 days ago, initially I had the same problem with starting the first time. Took a good 20 minutes of pulling, adjusting the choke, letting it rest and starting again. After that it’s starts up fairly quickly with 1 or 2 pulls. If you got it to start a few minutes on idle, make sure the choke is pushed in. Things I also tried that seemed to work is fill the tank at least 3/4 of the way or more, make sure the vent is open on the gas cap, and choke is pushed in. Also when it did start, after a good while, I let it run with the choke pushed in for the 10 minute initial break in period. I thought there was something wrong with it initially but being a new user to outboard motors I figured it was me needed to figure it out what I was doing wrong which was flooding the carb most likely. But eventually I got it to run and took it out to the lake a few days later which I was able to start fairly quickly this time.

When you handle the outboard to place it on the car or stand, keep it close to you while keeping your core muscles tight. The weight is gonna make your body lean forward and keeping your core muscles tight will prevent this from happening. Plan accordingly so your time lifting the outboard is at a minimum e.i placing outboard on stand, car and boat.

@@ErickMartinSucre I've watched it before, it's a very useful. It made me think about getting a dolly but I thought you'd bring it with you to the launch to help you roll the engine down too... I'll have to figure out lifting 90 lbs now into the van and out. Is there a particular reason why you have to lay the engine on that one side you mention on the vid? Oil? Also, any risk of leaking fluids? Thanks brother

What do people think of onlineoutboards? I have read some absolutely horrible reviews. Makes me think more than twice about ordering from them.

I had a good experience with it and tye shipping is quick. If you'll like to save some extra cash you can always check used ones like in Craigslist or offer up too

I got the 2019 Mercury 4hp ordered from the same place. I had in the shop 4x. Last time with low oil pressure light coming on. I called Mercury and online outboards. Finally got a full refund. I most of gotten a lemon. Back to 2 stroke with external tank.

Gosh that sucks bro! So far my Tohatsu has not failed me in any way and it is a 4-stroke. You may be right, it must've been a lemon dud.
