I own a 2018 XSE with red cabin (which I enjoy) and all the options offered on this Camry which I also am pleased with. (That's the good) . Let me add at this point the following. Between me and my Son (he lives next door) we own six (6) Toyotas, driven by each child and adults. We have been Toyota owners because of the quality and lack of problems over the years of ownership. Now the Bad: My 2018 XSE has had Cruise control, Electronic brake issues for over a year of ownership. Cruise malfunction and electronic brake and brake hold repeatedly go OUT. Toyota has replaced the mother board and tweaked the system on 7 different occasions over a 12 month period. Next week they are going to rewire a new harness. I have been able to reboot the mother board by turning the engine off and reengaging the cruise control. This solution may take repeated rebooting, (6 to 7 times) before it takes. I had hoped that this problem was just an anomaly with my particular vehicle, only. Not the case, You Tube stories has shown me that other Toyota vehicles are having issues along the same troubling line. THIS MAY REQUIRE A "RECALL" by Toyota manufacturing because this unit is supplied by a third party supplier. As a LOYAL Toyota owner I'm expecting help to solve this dilemma which is a SAFTEY ISSUE. Loyal owner and I will wait for a solution forth coming - - -

I love my 2018 Toyota Camry XSE V6! And something I’d never understand is that if you have a certain car that you like and drive as your everyday commute, or it is your fun car, your review will be bias from the very beginning because you will only see and find the downside of the car you are reviewing, you will start complaining about almos everything because does not sound or doesn’t drive like the car you own!! All I can say it’s that I’ve been owning Toyota cars for quite some time and have not been disappointed in all this time, and the main reason people buy Camrys because they last forever! If I wanted a fast race looking car I would get a Camaro V8 or a Mustang and still wouldn’t what I get off of a Camry; its reliability. It is only my humble opinion and I have driven from 2 wheels to 18 wheels.

I traded up from my 2011 Camry LE to the 2019 XSE white/black combo w/red interior. I love it for my long commute. It's fun to drive, handles nicely and I get a lot of compliments. I love the flat display, and some of the features of Entune are cool, like the voice recognition recognizes everything that I say without a problem. On the flip side they should subscribe to Google Maps to provide their map service. It detects your location rather well, but some of the directions that it gives are more out f the way even though it downloads the map to set up the route. I'm an android user, so I was disappointed with the lack of Android Auto. Then I had the opportunity to drive an Infiniti with Android Auto. It got to be annoying after a while with the way it functions or maybe it was just that car. The JBL speakers sound great. I appreciate the look of the quad tips and the black plastic, but I too wish they had added fog lights instead of the fake panels in the front.

The quad exhaust tips are ONLY for when you select (sport) mode on your driving experience selector. It then opens up the other two exhaust tips for a deeper and more aggressive exhaust sound. Other than that they are useless. If you drive it you will see the dark carbon build up only on the inner two pipes if you run in (economy) mode most of the time.

Just subbed, bought a SE three days ago, installed Entune gives purpose to the screen, and the GPS is pretty cool. It will surge and buck, if not treated like it wants, but when you find how to feed in throttle, it's impressive..when using Entune make sure your cable is not just a charging cable. There's also a red screen that says disconnect, ignore it, then open maps (don't get stuck on stupid like I did!) It's actually very easy...just different! It seems a lot of people were led down the wrong path, not by the software, but by the simplicity of Samsung....you just get used to...easy!

I enjoyed your video, thanks! Your points make sense, especially about wearing polarized sunglasses in the car which I always do in sunny weather. However I didn't when I bought my 2019 Camry but since I got the lower SE trim line I don't have the major issue - HUD. It's been quite overcast so I still haven't used polarized lenses - I'll have to try that right away to see how it affects the display and backup camera! I love the front end of the 2018-19 SE/XSE, including the fake lower scoops however the LE/XLE 'catfish' grille almost makes me gag. The SE/XSE fake rear vent doesn't bother me much but I have to say the LE/XLE looks cleaner without it. I love the look of the XSE dual exhaust with quad tips and 'aerodynamic' diffuser. I also love the XSE all LED tail lights, much nicer than the partially lit SE tail lights I have. I think the SE front actually looks better than the XSE, the lights, the matte black instead of gloss black grille and the black instead of silver lower crossbar. It also doesn't have the 'blemish' camera below the Toyota logo. And for a daily driver I prefer the SE's less aggressive 18" wheels over the XSE's great looking 19" wheels. If I had a do-over I'd probably buy the same car I got, Camry SE in Super White with the black interior. (Cockpit Red is amazing but I'd still get the black interior). I will admit the XSE with no options is tempting since it gives you a lot for the extra $4000 over the base SE. All in all, a wonderful mid-size sedan that should be on anyone's short list.
@ZBo-tw2ri5 жыл бұрын
How much did you get your SE for? I'm looking to get one myself
@QuentinQuatermass5 жыл бұрын
@@ZBo-tw2ri I think the base 2019 Camry SE lists for $25500. Plus dealer transportation of maybe $900 and your taxes. There are incentives that knock the list price down, I've seen $500 and I got $1000 but I've heard of others getting more - it just depends how lucky you are and when&where you buy. Of course options and accessories will take the price up, most cars on the lot will have some extra cost additions. I found a few 2019 SEs in town in the color I wanted, Super White with the black interior. Some had a moon roof, etc. that I didn't want. I bought the only Super White/black interior SE in town that had just all-weather mats/trunk liner and mudflaps which I planned to get anyway. I would have got the $625 blind spot monitoring/rear cross traffic alert but in the NW USA it's hard to get without $1500 more for the convenience package and moon roof. It's hard to know where to stop. The SE goes up $2100 with BSM/RCTA, convenience package and moon roof while the base XSE is $4000 more (but it's gonna have options, too - it never ends). Good luck in your search!

Honda debated about even keeping the manual because it doesn't sell at all. It's not a fake vent... Its called styling. They never said it's intended to be performance increasing or anything.... I have a Fully Loaded 2023 Camry XSE V6 supersonic red/midnight black and all-black interior. The Red seat interior is a gaudy fit with black plastic, it is not sequenced or laid out well. As you mentioned the fake exterior vents look weird. Also, too much black plastic on the front bumper makes it seem like an animal snout. 18-inch alloy wheels would have suited this car well because the ride would be smoother and quieter with 18-inch rather than 19-inch wheels. The Bridgestone Turanza EL440s are expensive garbage worthless tires that only perform well in dry warm/hot climates and handle very poorly on wet surfaces. Get the Ottocast U2-X Pro for Wireless Carplay and Android Auto for $99 on sale. In 2021, Toyota made a small refresh giving the Camry a nice Infotainment Head Unit and improved LED lighting. Nothing was done to the Panoramic Roof, it can still fail. Toyota decided not to upgrade Safety Sense 2.5 plus to 3.0 which really was a mistake for the refreshed 2021 to 2023 model years. Because of COVID-19, parts shortage Toyota installed the Hood Stick Prop instead of using another Lift Support provider. Installing the proper Hood Lift Support which is easy, and will cost about $99 if bought on eBay. The 40/60 Split rear seats are not great, the sidings in the trunk prevent from inserting large long objects in the trunk. Most Toyota Apps are worthless unless you pay for the subscription. Because everyone wants ECO-Friendly stuff, Toyota uses water-based paint on the exterior body. It is super thin and has a weak clear coat. This causes many chips, possibly flakes, and easy to scratch the car's paint. Good news, you can pay a lot of money/ a fortune for a paint protection film or spend $1,500 for complete real Ceramic Coating to last 3 years or $3k for 6 years. You will find that Toyota just like Honda has gone cheap using lesser-quality parts while increasing the MSRP of their cars. More Airbags and semi-dysfunctional computer safety features do not make for a better vehicle. So much plastic, aluminum, and glass make cars unsafe. It makes them consumable or toss away if you get into an accident. Toyota is Profiting from your misfortunes. Reliable if you baby your car and maintain it / kept parked in the garage for the next 100 years driving it 1 mile per week.

I personally do not see anything wrong with having fake vents on front of it or in the back of the car especially if it helps to keep the cost down plus real vents were probably not needed on these type of vehicles. Like seriously who would buy the car if it had a huge white gap there if they were to removed those fake vents? Nobody! Because the vehicle would be horrible looking without them. lol!

Can I ask what would you prefer than fake vents?

Agreed sometimes manufacturers to make changes they exaggerate. Sometimes simplicity is more elegant and as you said (not cheap). Please explain to me the reason for increasing the size of wheels (16. 17 18") is it riding comfort or mere appearance.
@ShiftingLanes4 жыл бұрын
Bigger wheels have lower profile tires. The lower the profile (thinner the area between the wheel and the outside of the tire) the ride is generally becomes stiffer. Bigger wheels do look more attractive and aggressive.

How comfortable is the drivers seat on these, I'm thinking about trading my '17 ST for one, I had a back injury last year and the Recaros in the ST kill my back but I love these new XSEs

I agree that fake vent in the rear is hideous. I would try to paint that black plastic the same color of the car to make it blend in. The Audis are now putting in fake exhaust..also lame on a 55k SUV

I really like this car but the center console is where it lost meit Looks old & ugly. Toyota need to bring the GRMN variants of their cars to the states. Screw the trd editions coming up.

It's the worst I've ever felt, especially when you have to accelerate and dodge at the same time. I'm used to it now but it's really noticable. And the front vents seem to be able be functional with little modification...at least looking at it! (There is a cut out behind the front fake vents, don't know what will happen sonically, or the effect on aero numbers...you might create a Camry whistle!) And rolling down the rear windows, while the fronts are up, produces an alien abduction effect, that has to be felt!!! A weird Sonic pulsation, I'm going to try spoiling the air at the front of the window and then behind..... it's a giant ugly...

I'm glad I seen your video I was thinking about getting a Camry but I don't like the infotainment system I think it looks ugly and cheap Toyota could have did something better the car is gorgeous outside I'm glad you mentioned about the sunglasses that would definitely be a no from me even though I tint my windows I still wear sunglasses the memory seats is what got to me how can a car over 36,000 not have memory seats. I'm sure Toyota we'll figure out a lot of things that they did wrong on the 2018 and fix him within the next three to four years.

toyota tried too hard to appeal to teenagers with this Camry IMO. Fake vents, red leather, fake quad tip exhausts, that front beak on the car.. Fast and Furious kids will love this car though
