why does the malay version always makes less power than indonesian version? the indonesia version 1.8 makes 149hp, and the 2.0 before this gen makes 156hp

Where did those numbers came from? At least for the Malaysian market, they are of official figures as stated by UMW Toyota, the official distributor, and assembler of these cars in Malaysia. I can't find any claimant to those stated power figures other than those of that you can find on trusted source such as Wikipedia and Toyota themselves.
