I had a stage one tune on my golf alltrack for a year and absolutely no problems with the clutch. Makes the car a million times better! You’ll love it!

Thanks for the comment! I'm still sorely tempted to go ahead and get the update. I've only got 11 months left on my warranty so maybe next summer...

Hey! Awesome video. Loved hearing your views and opinions. I have the same exact car but in S trim so no glass roof or leather seats. We also did a road trip down to Florida back in February last year in ours! We are in Boston, so not quite as far as you, but loved every mile. My only complaint is the wind noise when a crosswind is present. Unusually loud, but I cant complain too much. The 4-motion has come in handy in the winters and even was enough for my wife to learn stick so she could use it in the bad weather. We leased ours and have to decide to buy it our or turn it in come September. I have been thinking that due to its uniqueness and value for money, it might be worth keeping it. I cant imagine what I would replace it with. Cheers!

May I ask how the headliner is cleaned - will a shampoo clean it up, or must it be replaced? Thanks!

Great review. I still love my '15 GSW TSI 6sp SE fwd auto also. 46k miles and no major issues except for some recall repairs. On the fob battery, Batteries Plus had free lifetime replacement for just 13 bucks. I have since it 4 times since June '15. My lumbar is too much if I crank it all the way. Maybe I should have paid 2 grand more for sel but I didn't want to spend more money and it was more weight and repairs with all the SEL gadgets. I did have a 9v the was replaced under warr and locking gas flap, that's it! I think my sunroof wasn't part of the recall but they made the drains bigger anyway. There was also metal and plastic expansion cracks on later years, hopefully, yours was just clogged drains. I have less weight than you so I'm a bit faster and no desire to tune. I think these engines are overbuilt and many tune them so you may want to after your warranty is up. Push the hatch handle with you thumb. I like your headlights and front turns, mine are a bit outdated. I took out the red plastic strip like on you tube and use amber bulbs along with the flashing red breaklights, safer and looks sweet. Also I got yellow DRLs which are the brights as well, looks cool and safer also. Cheers and enjoyed you video. P.S., my wife is from Gatineau. She's a hot Scot. Lol

I’ve heard that the APR plus wouldn’t void the warranty. ?
@mattst-pierre77583 жыл бұрын
I doubt that. I'm still seriously considering a Unitronic Stage 1 reflash but am concerned about the potential consequences, and subsequent warranty issues.

So what is known is that there is a counter hard coded into your ECU that counts up every time the software is flashed. The dealer keeps a record of what the number is supposed to be and if something breaks and they suspect it's something broken by a tune, they will possibly look at that number and if yours reads 2 and their records say it should say 1, then they might deny your turbocharger warranty replacement. But theoretically, they cannot deny unrelated repairs. So if your sunroof leaks, and you have a tune on your engine, they cannot reasonably deny you a sunroof repair because you changed your engine software. At least, that's the law here in the States. According to Google: "According to the Magnuson-Moss Warranty Act: a vehicle manufacturer cannot void the warranty of your vehicle due to an aftermarket part unless they can prove that the aftermarket part was the cause of or contributed to the failure of the vehicle."

I have 19’ S 4motion manual with optional safety features bought it new for 19K right after covid. $6K off since nobody wants to drive manual and wagon combo. Absolutely love it especially the manual, better shifting feel than my E46 and e90 m3 I had before. Only minor complaints would be lack of steering feedback and weak brakes. I heel toe and rev match everytime so car doesn’t feel slow at all during my daily driving. Very satisfied when pushed hard with the manual no need for tuning imo. It also has been very reliable thus far but I only have 14k mi.

Yikes, that car had a lot of problems. This is awful awful quality. Why do consumers continue to support manufacturers with such poor quality control?
@mattst-pierre77583 жыл бұрын
All things considered, and when compared to most other automakers, the issues with the Golf give it average reliability.

This is really nothing to do with reliability of the mechanics of the car. Own a 2017 Alltrack with literally zero Issues. Fully loaded but simple to maintain or do work yourself in your driveway for most everything. The golf’s specifically last forever. And have something a Toyota doesn’t have. A 12 year warranty on the body from corrosion. I’ve seen more Corolla’s not even 10 years old with rotted fenders and rockers. Also, in the automatic form, Toyota and Hondas drive boring, as they use CVT vs Vw at least still uses dsg(aka a somewhat real automatic) with gears.
